  1. I think that's a great idea. Naturally since you can log in and out there are some issues with things like this. But being able to fortify a house would be very interesting, if for nothing else than sandbox 101. With the way DayZ works now the idea is slightly ludicrous naturally, but we all know(or at least some of us) that it's not the way Bohemia Interactive wants the world to be in the future. You have my vote on the suggestion ballot.

Couple of moronic logic's that should be fixed.

I love how suggestion on logical fallacies in the game and it's engine became a discussion on whether or not you can skin a deer with an axe or not. So i'll weigh in, no supermarket in the world would ever take deer meat skinned and butchered with an axe, everyone probably agrees with that. There's our starting point. Now whether or not you get edible meat out of a dead deer with an axe or not remains irrelevant. I'm sure in the zombie apocalypse if you got hungry and managed to kill a deer, you wouldn't just stand there angry with your axe in hand thinking "damit, I have all this meat but i can't get it out of this deer without a proper knife." So it's a valid argument on game restrictions being illogical and that shouldn't be up for discussion. Just point it out and the devs will get to fixing it when other more important things are done.
  3. I'm reading this more as not having consequences of sniping people rather than the actual act of killing. There's a steady progression to a "character" in dayz: get food, get gear, survive, get better gear and if you survive long enough you get the best gear ie. weapons. But there's no consequences to running around with a 15kg high powered sniper rifle and 10kg of bullets for that rifle just so you can shoot noobs in Elektro.

    Clips, Magazines, CLIPAZINES

New to DayZ and was searching the forums if this suggestion had already been addressed. Fairly well put my good sir, this was roughly the same concern I first found when I first tried this awesome mod, that and the erratic zombie pathing. I'd like to start by adding something that not everyone realizes: There are 8 different types of ammunition in use in DayZ, only 8. That's the variety of different barrel sizes in the game. 2 of which are specialty ammunition for Shotguns and for the sniper rifles. So that leaves 6 different bullets used for the 34 different weapons available in the game, not counting the m107 and AS50 which both use the same bullet and Shotguns which all use the same shot. Some of them use a slightly different variant for example Lee Enfield uses a older version of the 7.61x51mm NATO bullet, but they're practically interchangeable. Yet the magazines are the thing you need for your weapon, not the bullets. Best of these is the 9mm bullet which all of the submachine guns use and most of the handguns. This is something that's not just a good idea, it's imperative that the game has this function. Without it, it just doesn't merit the designation: realistic zombie survival. And hopefully it will be in by the time the game goes retail.(I'm counting american and russian guns separately because soviet guns don't use the NATO rounds, they're slightly shorter cartridges even though the bullet caliber is the same. With just caliber the number would be 6) The clip needs to be an entity of its own, like what they're doing for the weapons in the upcoming standalone alpha, something as important as the gun. Bullets shouldn't be abundant either, finding bullets should be uncommon at best, and finding extra clips should be very rare. All guns could have one clip that is bound to them to prevent offsetting finding clips vs. finding just guns(which could also be balanced by just adding a lot of different handguns to the game( Luger \o/ )) Scopes and other attachables could also be entities of their own. Finding a night vision scope for a sniper rifle would be super awesome and super rare. Or even better an IR scope. And you could strip those off the weapon you find and attach it to your own weapon, with some restrictions of course. A combat knife could also be implemented so any rifle could also be a melee weapon. Sniper rifles usually have specialized ammunition though, the caliber might be the same with the other rifles, but the casing might not. They could and should be very specific and also very rare. There should be some decision in your head before you shoot someone with the M107 or AS50 whether or not it's worth to spend that bullet right now on that random target. It is a survival game after all, not Unreal Tournament zombie edition. That's the few aspects I can think of right now to improve the game. After reading some of the dev blog for DayZ I'm confident they will eventually build an epic zombie survival MMO. Emphasis on survival. People who play the game should give out their ideas, as long as they articulate them as well as Happymrsnowman did. The developers do nothing with suggestions like "i want more gunz in dayz"

    DayZ needs more guns

I would agree with bringing in more civilian weapons and reduce the amount of military weapons available. Military generally has one type of assault rifle, one type of hand gun, one or 2 types of sniper rifle in use. There shouldn't be such diversity in a survival game, but civilian weapons can be pretty much anything. It's certainly not a priority, rather get the basics right first, then press on about gun diversity. Hopefully in the future we'll be able to mod the guns with sights, laser pointers and such by stripping other guns. Right now it feels more like diablo 3 with the current "loot system". I also think magazines should be containers for bullets rather than charges for weapons, something the devs will hopefully eventually implement. There are only a handful of ammo calibers used, some weapons have specific types like the m107, but generally rifles use one of 2 standards, the 7.62×51mm NATO and 5.56×45mm NATO so having a different "charge" for certain weapons makes no sense when the bullets are the same. Submachineguns like mp5 and Bizon use the exact same bullet as the m9 or g17, but their magazines aren't interchangeable. But again not alpha build concerns, just some future ideas. Well you're right for not wasting development hours on stuff like melee weapons, but it's still a valid idea and not having that option would be a great detriment to a zombie survival game. I would also like to bring to question your narrow viewpoint on the use of melee weapons and general knowledge of zombie survival. You don't use melee weapons to fight a murderous psychopath armed with a M16 (that's you), you use it to fight brainless man eating zombies in close quarters or when you can't use loud weapons like guns that attract attention. Any item is a melee weapon too, so of all the possible melee weapons lying around we have an axe and a knife, there should be more.
