  1. I tried the improvised suppressor on a mosin and it sounded loud as ever

     

    Might have been a damaged bottle now that I think about it - would that make a difference?

     

    Imo - suppressors should be for pistols and smgs only

     

    damaged bottle = useless.

     

     

    only use pristine bottles for suppressor bottles since they degrade in effectiveness with condition rather than how newly they were made.

     

     

    a damaged bottle suppressor is a 2/5 bottle suppressor. the bottle suppressor takes 6 shots from pristine. damaged/badly damaged is only worth dropping. 

     

     

     

     

     

    a pristine suppressor bottle will give you one or two good mosin shots before becoming ruined in my experience.

     

    the bottle suppressor is also perfect for PU scope since the reticle is just above the bottle

    i awoke in cherno and almost immediately came across another player. we were both fresh spawns. i say "Hullo" and run off.

     

    we meet up several more times in cherno, each time i say "hullo" and close the door on him. 

     

    i decide to take a run up to balota and then military base. imagine my surprise when i see him in the piano house between cherno and balota - "Hullo - we have to stop meeting like this!" i say.

     

    imagine my surprise when i run into him again in the balota military base and then the 4 barracks base minutes later. 

     

    the base was looted when we got there. all the barracks were open, and the only loot was a single hi-cap vest. i took it and the player i had been running into for over an hour killed some zombies for me. 

     

    i mention to him over chat that only a fully geared player would leave behind a hi-cap, at which point i decide to go to the last barracks. i'm keeping my eye on this guy though, still; when i see an arm in a bush. i immediately run into cover and try to tell my impromptue friend that danger is near "there's a fucking guy right there" - he didn't seem to get my warning in time because he was then quickly shot. i dash for cover, running around the hospitals looking for something i can use to kill this guy, i couldn't get to my buddy's body to take some 7.62 ammunition. 

     

    the fellow who shot my companion got rid of the body and left only a blaze on the floor. he clearly didn't want me to loot the body. at this point i devise a plan to win the day - and follow through. i'm pretty pinned down at this point, so i pull back to the hospitals, wondering if he'll follow me or camp the body, the dice have been rolled as i sneak right to the opposite side of the wall he's against. 

     

    "so what's your deal?" 

     

    i say, loudly.

     

    he's clearly freaking out because it's so close and dashes for cover

     

    "i'm totally watching you right now"

     

    he's forgotten about the blaze on the floor. 

     

    "you're really not safe there"

     

    he makes a fatal mistake, and leaves the body to flank around and up the rocky hill. i know exactly where he'll end up, and to my amazement, on the floor is a badly damaged blaze with two shots.

     

    "feeling lucky-?" 

     

    i say, shooting the fellow in the face, just as he got into his super-obvious flanking spot. 

     

    he kind of deserved it.

  3. Love the whole area. But i meet very little people. Only when i find the lucky truck and roll back through all the northern towns thorwards berezino i get shot at from god knows where.

     

    yesterday i decided to be a crazy bandit and camped out on the tallest factory in novo with a trumpet. (by the way that's a great way to waste an hour, just sitting up high trying to ping .22 off people)

     

     

    you'd be surprised how many people are in novo without ever seeing eachother. this birdseye view showed me three or four players who would never have met if it wasn't for my .22 coralling them

  4. Let them suicide... and spawn them nearby (mentioned details in another topic). Also increase respawn timers if this happens multiple times in a short duration (getting killed by other players does not count).

    In general I would like it if freshspawns had as little free power as possible:

    • relatively low energy and hydration levels
    • slightly reduced blood (and maybe health) levels
    • minimum starting gear (~lowest tier shoes, shirt, pants and lightsource)
    • starting gear in bad condition
    • starting gear slightly randomized
    • no magic slots for big melee weapons and longarms (you cannot even carry two boxes of cereal - but both a rifle and a sledgehammer - what?)
    • spawn away from other players and stashes/bases (avoids spawnkilling and easy gear up)
    • move Novo/Cernaya Polana spawns to the far northeast (Berezhki etc.)

     

     

    totally disagree. 

     

    fresh spawns should start with no hunger/thirst and a totally random assortment of civ gear based on RTD, not necessarily bad. 

     

    spawning away from other players shouldn't be guaranteed either, that's just a given.

     

    remove novo/polana spawns and REPLACE them with berezhki. 


  5. does anyone know if (barring the new breech-loaded 7.62 weapon) we'll get any more sawnoffs? i'd like to be able to get more cool sawn and sprayed weapons, like a sawn-off repeater or magnum with no barrel.

     

     

     

    i really want a pistol spraycannon with no barrel too

     

     

     

    as a note, why can you not attach mosin attachments to the sawnoff? there's no change to the sight mount, and a LRS sawnoff isn't exactly practical right? 

     

    also, why is it that the mosin sawnoff can't have the sawn parts painted? surely if i paint it after sawing it it should be fully covered?

  6. It's been stated outright several times that expanding the map isn't something that is going to happen. It's a huge technical hurdle from what I understand, and they don't see any benefit to going through the trouble when the map is already huge.

     

    Extending to Novigrad, if you include a proportionate amount of coast, would be a map roughly ten times the size of the current one. That's insanity. It's not a performance issue, as rendering distance has a set limit regardless of map size.

     

    If they expand at all, the only way to go would be West or South in my opinion. If they go South, more islands could be included like Utes... if they go West a little, Miroslavl is basically just off the existing western edge of the map. I don't see any expansion happening at all though, not in the vanilla Standalone.

  7. I was expecting someone to say this, no magnum is not low-end.

     

     

    how stupid are people? magnum has .357 

     

    that's one of the largest rounds in the game, it's pretty much a rifle round even compared to AKM bullets. 

     

    because what you have to reload it it's low end? i don't understand people. because it's got 6 shots rather than 15 (6 kills for revolver vs 1 or 2 for 9mm)? i don't know. 


  8. Would be cool if the end edges of chernarus were replaced with huge skyrim sized mountains that are un passable, just so people don't wander off to far and get the end of the world map. I believe that in the actual chernarus map there is supposed to be black mountains that separate the country from the rest of the continent

     

     

    i'd MUCH PREFER a passable "Zagorta" mountain range to the north that resembles namalsk.

     

     

    the black mountains are in this area as we can see the svergo (boo devs, its actually the pobeda estuary but you had to ruin it) estuary

     

     

     

     

     

     

    i supppose the real question is - will the final game extend to novigrad????


  9. Hi, I didn't see any results in the related topics when I was about to post this so I'm just going to ask. This morning I had a pristine UK vest and 3 zombies saw me. I took my 22 and sprayed 23 rounds at them then took my axe out and killed them. I got hit twice in process and it ruined my vest and the stuff inside. Is this a bug? I've had the same vest and been hit upwards of 5 times before it's even worn. I'm kind of annoyed considering I had just found it and I was in electro.

     

    3 zombies hitting twice is like 6 times dude

  11. Would that be the area northwest of Toploniki and directly north of Sinistock?  I went up there a couple weeks ago to fish and live off the land, but no animals are up there, and the big pond by the field up in the NW corner was dry; someone forgot to add the water.

     

    yeah anything north of toploniki west of tisy is totally unfinished. i expect to see it change soon.

  13. basically my idea is a system where you can only see "active" images of an area when your character is in direct LOS of an area. (IE a sniper on a hill could see everything in front of him just fine but not what's behind the closest tree in 3pp.

     

    or a guy behind a wall can see his side of the wall, but only sees a slightly darkened version of the environment with no characters or loot displayed on the other side of the wall, that his 1pp character cannot see.

     

     

    a guy in 3pp looking around will only see a little wider area than what his head-look sees (IE turning head to look behind you). the new RE-5 style side-camera will mean you have way less sight right behind you, meaning that headlook is entirely necessary in 3pp to maintain awareness. 

     

    example: you walk into berezino train station, peek out with Q. once you peek out you see a full 360 degree radius around the train station like current 3pp, but you do not see round the fence behind the train station. 

     

    this does not particularly effect how nice the game looks, or how nice 3pp will be to use - it will just align the 3pp experience to the 1pp experience.  


  14. everyone who's watched streams is quite used to having a little box on dayz's screen. i was thinking that actually it would be a nice feature to be able to see your weapon's sights are on target in 3pp with a windowed 1pp cam. 

     

     

    i am aware 3pp is being worked on, and i personally think that dayz should remain primarily a third person game, but aiming in this mode is decidedly less surefire than in 1pp. 

     

    perhaps once the camera is switched to a RE5 style "side-on" we can have the option to open a window showing our character's view filling a small amount of this side.
