  1. That right there will be the biggest problem going forward.

They must do whatever they must to separate the two ips so that they do not even remotely feel the same at the same time having that Bohemia Interactive signature of being Mod friendly and built on realism.

they should improve jumping and stick it on spacebar, as well as just sticking action key on F rather than on the mousewheel by default.

then dayz would feel like a wider variety of games that aren't ARMA

  2. everything in dayz is pretty much pristine and covered in green. while that's fine for the more rural areas like stary yar, an area like novodmitrovsk should be collapsing and full of rubble and mess. the most we really see is individual stacks of rubble or burnt out cars. the world is nicely put together but a lot of it lacks any sort of real persistence with the idea of it being a post apocalyptic environment.

for one thing, why is there not a solid layer of moss and trees growing at random in the middle of streets and between cracks in pavement?

/=/ tldr the game feels finished and not rustic, and ARMA and not it's own entity. i'm aware i'm playing ARMA when i'm playing dayz.

  3. As the title says,

Loot in towns should be mostly junk; say ropes, scraps, clothes and small tools (knives, shovels, axes) with most being damaged or very damaged.

With that in mind, canned meals, ammo, weapons and attachments should be VERY rare.

This would allow players to start from the very beginning getting the required tools to promote farming, hunting, fishing and cooking over weapon farming as well as giving a means to defend oneself from zombies, even though that wouldn't be very helpful against hordes or geared players.

    What do you think?

the problem is that if you fill the map with junk loot you can't use for anything there's no room for anything else. the same reason why apartment buildings spawn very little loot. just the ones near balota full of loot would take up 90% of the server's loot

on books, even if nobody collects books in russia there is a school building anyway.

  4. Found 3 AK74, AKS-74U, 2 MP5, 1 Blaze 95, 1 M4, 3 MP-133 with pistol grip, 1 MP-133, lots of Repeaters/Magnums/Sporters/Trumperts/RAK/SKS and lots of different pistols, except FNX. But not a single Mosin rifle or Izh shotty. Also didn't see FNX for a long time, since 0.48 I believe or something.

Did anyone found any of these since 0.55? If yes, can you please tell me where? Especially about Mosin - I'm more than satisfied with my silenced polymer AK-74 but my friend is really in love with Mosin.

i found a couple and sawed them off before laughing to myself and putting them back where i found them

  5. I did yesterday, although it only took me about 15 minutes to get from "orange starving and orange thirsty" to "no starving and dark green hydrated", so your "30 minute" timeframe is shit.

Oh, and when diseases actually get implemented, enjoy your Kuru, Hepatitis A, and various intestinal diseases and parasites.

Eating people should be an absolutely last resort, and you should get infected for doing so.

I cannot wait for the game to get harder still.

i want a character with aids so i can go around filling all the waterbottles with bodily fluids and infect an entire server with aids

  6. Like I said, tasty.

Seriously though I'll never play your boring way, you wanna sit at an apple tree for 30 minutes and pick apples? Be my guest, I'll just be lazy and eat your tasty hard work. I always try to interact in this game, I like stealing all peoples bandages, rags, food and anmo and make them have to survive after that, but every once and awhile I get a guy who won't stop whining after I capture him, or tries to run and when I break his legs he won't shut up. They ruin the expirience ;) for me anyways.

i don't have 400 spaces for apples either

we need baskets we can carry around in our hands

  7. Is it still necessary to adjust the dayz.cfg file in your documents/dayz folder in order to get anything like decent response/framerate from the game?

Did the new renderer fix anything?

try it without then try it with, if it works it works.

you can reduce the distance at which trees/loot/players/zombies spawn or increase it as you like.

  8. So, I joined a group yesterday because I'm trying to find some decent players to run with. I entered the ts and joined a group of active players. Apparently I joined at the right time. I caught them in the middle of duping mp5s, mags and ammo. This pissed me off. I've had my current char for over a week. Hours upon hours of running around trying my damndest to survive and find the gear I much needed. It was only 2 days ago that I came across a pristine mp5 [with a loaded mag right beside it, believe it or not!] That accomplishment feels like nothing knowing that their are large groups of players running around finding these rare items once and then just duping them 10 times to fully arm their group. What is the point of playing the game right if it means wasting 20+ hours gathering, only to run into a gang of dupers who want to take my hard work and exploit it for their own good? It's giving an unfair advantage to these groups and ruining the integrity of the game.

pretty funny because of how common mp5s are now. clearly a bunch of baddies.

noobclans are always going to be part of the game. these are the same guys you see streamers killing in droves.

you should buddy up to them and hope you find a landmine or grenade to throw into them when they're duping in their camp.

    or just headshot them all.

or get them banned if you have evidence. you can have so much fun with these idiots. they have 4/5hk spray weapons. just find an AKM and spray them back with 1/2hk.

  9. have you ever thought how ridiculous you'd look if you went about real survival in a Dayz fashion

i was running around with a cowboy hat on and a fire extinguisher on my back and i saw a bag of rice and i just jump on it and i stuff the whole bag into my mouth raw because everyone knows a bag of rice is like a godsend... i mean its a joke lol....sprinting from house to house just to find a can of beans so you don't pass out...its just funny if you think about it

irl when i walk through crowds i push people around like i'm playing assassin's creed

  10. yes. as soon as the patch was released i instantly found an AK-74 on the floor in the lobby of a school.

i also found mags on military trucks, jeeps and etc.

orel gear, police gear, RAK, MP5 and all sorts of junk spawn on the downed tanks (meaning NEAF is actually #1 military base behind severograd's trucks in this patch)

rak mags,mp5 mags and etc spawn on police cars

barracks = not where to look for guns really at the moment

yellow gunhouse also doesnt spawn guns regularly anymore.

  11. No

Considering how literally every single town on the map has at least one apple tree, and probably 20+ "edible" berry bushes, you have no rationale, except for roleplaying, to eat another player.

Hunting should be extremely difficult, as it is in real life. Remember how animals would run away from you once you got within 200m standing up? As it should be. Work for your kill

There is ALWAYS food available, both in-game and in a real-life survival situation. Do you have to work for it? Of course. As it should be.

"Extinction is the rule, Survival is the exception" Carl Sagan

"Extinction is coming..... fight it" Eclipse Phase

"Do not go gentle into that good night...rage, rage against the dying of the light" Dylan Thomas

The overwhelming majority of players in this game are lazy. The devs cut back food spawns (FINALLY), and they scream and whine, and kill other players for food, all the while the means of their own survival, and the most realistic means of survival, have been implemented for over 3 months at the least. "But that isn't fun!", they say, as they cut up another player to eat them raw...

like i said, i've not had cause to play like this until today, and not even had problems finding food, though i do believe i was in an apple-sparse area - and to be fair, the guy wasn't exactly friendly. we were far from unlooted civilisation along the north of the map

  12. PvP people are in it to shoot each other, not to punch each other.

hive mind commands for npc zombies

the player zombies would obviously be like special infected in l4d, not just standard zoms.

i liked the special infected in the taviana mod

  13. Some things I would like to suggest about the apartment buildings.

They are very inconvenient places to loot, because:

    - They are in fps intensive areas

    - They require a lot of staircases to climb

    - Many rooms to check

    - Bad loot density per room

The first will hopefully be fixed as the game develops. The next two are trade-offs for looting a large buildings

However the last one is a real problem. From my observation, there is almost never more than one item per room. Which means to check 20 loot spots in the building, one has to check 20 rooms. In comparison to that, most regular smaller buildings in the game have 10+ loot spots in the same room, which allows one to check more loot spots in a shorter time.

This leaves the apartments with all the negative trade-offs of a large building but with none of the rewards for taking the time to check them.

The suggestion would be that each room in an apartment building should have the same loot spot density like a room of a small building. After all, if one tall apartment block with 12 stories covers living space for 12 small houses, then it should offer the same loot density. Because now they are just majestic looking scenery pieces.

if they had the same loot density as the other buildings they'd have 1500 items per building and just filling the current apartment blocks near cherno would make the rest of the map empty (the same amount of loot items) so it's not possible to make them any better.

the same goes for the furniture.

this is paraphrased from what a dev said, and also why we don't have 50 room buildings all over the map and also why novodmitrovsk spire is only 3 floors with 9 rooms.

they should just make all the loot in apartments spawn on the top floor for now as a placeholder, so people can actually loot them.
