yeah anything north of toploniki west of tisy is totally unfinished. i expect to see it change soon. -

1) leave the coast immediately. take what you find as you run. 2) zombies and doors = no zombies 3) zombies and fence hop = no zombies 4) http://www.primagames.com/media/files/dayz_gun_house.jpg/PRIMAP/quality/80- spawns a gun 9/10 times as a note, http://25.media.tumblr.com/a243b579330f78216f6662a5ce31ba05/tumblr_mi4aukMEhH1rasnq9o1_500.jpg if you stay in the red you die. this map is old but it shows average player distribution for most of the map. there are now a lot more players up north past NEAF because of novodmitrovsk. it takes 1 player to take every interesting loot from a city. 1km from spawn you're running into pre-looted buildings. dayz's map is 225km2. if you don't plan on crossing this distance because you're what, too lazy? you might as well stop now, because there's probably only 1 AK to loot on each server at most. this isn't minecraft and it's certainly not COD. if you want a truck l2 map or you'll never get a single one.

if there's another say ~5x25km area added to the north with a few villages to spawn in and mountainous areas, maybe a ski-lift and chalet, perhaps some mansions in the hills. they could add another large city up there in the west to stop the bottlenecking, this also adds reasons to include mountain clothing to go with the mountain backpack, it will beat gorka in this environment - not to mention skis and snowboards. as a note, there is a planned addition to the north in the west which looks like it will be barracks. right now it's just empty. this idea is well thought through after my "add in namalsk as an island to the east" idea was pooh-poohed, as it includes snowed areas into the game without the concern of splitting playerbases. snow areas would add a new level to tracking, as i envision running through deep snow and following another players tracks, or a bears. - maybe covering my own. -
i noticed that some people were complaining the new compass didn't always point north. i forget which thread, so i thought i'd make one here to clarify that this is by design and not a bug. next time you pick up a pack of cereal read the back of the package. there's actually a disclaimer from the damn cheap cereal prize company saying that it doesn't always point north. so; the old compass is still the best compass.

it means that cherno/elektro will be unlooted most of the time, as well as removing the NEW highest source of loot (military base with 4 barracks close-ish to balota) and most of the highest concentration chopper locations from spawns. if spawns were moved to a far-north setting then you would see people spread evenly across the map. the towns across the north from svet and novo to severo and petrovka offer a more random dispersal of players at their spawn, whereas people are currently bottlenecked into a couple of places in most of the spawns. -

well anyway. i think they should extend the map to the north with mountainous areas you can go skiing in. everyone should spawn at the mountains and getting to cherno and elektro should be like an achievement, rather than spawning there. -

you can tell if somebody is friendly without talking, and talking usually gets you killed. the only reason i survived my last player encounter was because i closed the door behind me; in fact, talking to the guy nearly got me axed. also saying you're friendly 50 times will get you shot because you're saying "i can't really pvp" -

i ran into another player in a v3s and cruised along beside him for a good time today. would have been nice to parp a horn at him on my way

not seeing this myself. a guy came at me in the police station at novodmitrovsk and i shot him square through the body after a couple of seconds trying to ask him why he was committing suicide into me with an axe 1 hit kill, sunk one into him afterwards and a third panic round because spraying with a bolt is how i roll

find a convenient cliff if you want to take advantage of pristine unlooted novo turovo berezhki dobroe and the barracks north of severograd, then the trucks north of severograd, then starry yar for a V3S, then devils castle and NWAF then all the choppers. my record so far is 5 pistol suppressors within 15 minutes of spawn as well as full gear and weapons including an AKS and every mag except AK74 (AKM and ak101 mags but no useful mag hooray) my fastest AK was an ak74 within 30 seconds of spawn in polana. always check police cars guys. -

there is a list of about 15 places you can spawn, the furthest west i've spawned is cherno recently. you can also spawn at cap colova, soektro, otmel, kamy, krutoy, solnichiy, solnichiy factory, berezino south, rify, NEAF hill (NEAF is trash now), svetlojarsk, polana, guba/svet/berezhki, near turovo right next to military loot, near novo right next to military loot. i'd rather be plonked into a RNG generated location that can be anywhere on the map over 1km from a military base -
