    Any Roadblocks?

    I remember too. However, would they fit in an apocalypse zombie world? back in the mod roadblocks we're pretty annoying (not that this is a bad thing), but what bugged me the most was they made no sense. Who the hell blocks the roads of an entire country because zombies? If those are made fitting in the context, would be fun to me. Like crashed cars, maybe a 787 boeing busted all around in the middle of a road. Things like that. But also, all the roads (like in the mod) blocked because of cars or plane crashed? Not believable xD

    New 1:1 Mouse Controls are not good for the game

    As devs already stated. Size of the weapon will affect the speed THE WEAPON turns over, not you. So you would be able to control your character properly and instinctively, but still would not be possible to quick scope someone behind you in a quarter second with a 360 backflip of your character. Same for going prone I guess (I can't see why crouching souldn't be 1:1, I can turn 180 almost instantly while crouching. I do that a lot during warm ups before training). But point is only thing turning around 1:1 is going to be your head.

    The team working on shirts are just designers creating 3D models and textures. Adding vehicles to the game includes a whole code work a designer doesn't know shit about. And those who do are busy with problems much more important than vehicles, and in fact, probably also required before vehicles are added, since vehicles code would be supported on the engine tweakings and fixings they're doing now. Too much people knowing to little about videogame development. Before content, comes the engine, you can't ask for content if the engine isn't finished. When the engine for vehicles is finished, then you would be able to ask those shirt makers to create 3D models and textures for vehicles.
  5. Buildings doesnt need any tweak because raiding them to kill players isn't a game purpose. There's no scoreboard and therebefore there's no need to balace anything in this regard. This game is unforgiving because of this, IRL you would have the same problem on same building, so same here. Entering that position is suicidal (experience talking here), so as you said, you better dont. Here is where the waiting game comes into place xD

    Yep, I bouth on sale, pretty much as everyone else I know. Again, you are talking about content. Voice? quest? skills? that is the EASIEST part of a game. Problem is the code, the programmers, the engineers behind all that making the code w/o bugs and flaws, the network, the actual engine of the game. Skyrim HAD ot this solved, play Elder Scrolls Oblivion, pretty much the same shit. You just tweak models, improve graphic engine and change the DB of the skills and added effects. In terms of code is just a copy-paste changing the old model/textures files with the new ones, or the old voice actors with the new ones, and so on. I know Im simplifying a lot, but you will see the comparison. Because DayZ has NOTHING of that. Have you reloaded a weapon ingame? sounds goes from one side, animation from the other, hands doesn't even touch weapon. Do you think changing that depends on just copy-paste code->add a new animation->add a new texture/model->done?? NO. This takes a complete rework of the animations engine + sound synchronization, then you CAN copy-paste code and add as much weapons as you want with textures/models, because reloading will work fine. But it is engine dependent. You think Skyrim reworked the engine for melee system? copy-paste from Oblvion + change models/textures/animation. Here you have, now pay me 60 bucks. Do you think melee was done after DayZ? not, and it still doesnt. After all the work melee just keeps feeling as a short range gun, because in terms of code/engine, thats what it is, and unless they take the money, effort and moths of work to create a proper melee system, it is still gonna be like this. Same goes for opening doors, managing inventory, climbing ladders, the fucking WALL GLITCHING problem. Biggest problem is even the way the fucking map is made, with just a 'base' of grass (the floor, nothing else), and the adding the buildings just over it. What happens then? well, for a game like ArmA with maybe 40 NPC enemy soldiers tops, the CPU calculations for the AI taking in count buldings isn't that much. But for a thousand zombies? theres no CPU that can handle this so they have to ignore the buildings and just go with the base floor. On every other game on this planet, buldings are INTEGRATED in the base. This means, where theres a wall, theres NO floor (opposite to what happens to this game), so even w/o taking in count building and just having in mind the floor, AI still avoid walls (or the lack of floor on them). Having this in DayZ would require a complete rework of the engine. Skyrim had it since the first fucking game they made (much like every other game company studio). So, while you are saying that it doesnt take that much to make a game. Im saying that the 1 year from now release date is complete bullshit unless we end up with an unfinished product still working with the ArmA engine, not suitable at all for this form of game. My hypothesis is that finish this game the way it should be, by the means they have and the work they have to do, would take about 4 years minimum.

    40 bucks? more like 23.99€ (which is still less than 30 bucks) and 30% of that goes to steam. And idk about you, but I bought Arma II + Arma II OA for 15€ both. As far as I know, they made around 30 million from the mod (nothing official tho), and this is assuming they doesn't have more expenses besides steam percentage. Skyrim is just the last game of a pretty big series of RPG games, they ALREADY had the enginde, they ALREADY had the code (previous game we're pretty much the same), they in fact, already had everything, just needed some improves and tweaks and content (easiest part) and STILL took 3.5 years to finish the game? Oh My GoD. Didn't know they we're so lazy.... Day Z is trying to do something that is completely new for BiS, so is gonna take A LOT if they want to do it properly (which I doubt, I will still end up with an Arma version of the game this deserves to be).

    Or not being able to reload at all. It isnt like I will go with watching at my compass all the time. Back in the mod, or also in Arma games, you could press 'O' and watch appeared on your screen or a compass if 'K' was pressed. In DayZ they intend to make it realistic without any HUD at all, but it could be done same way: pressing 'K' shows the compass with left arm, and you can't reload while holding it (plus lose of accuracy).

    Too little too late sums up Dayz...

    Another content-freak. I do care about network, is the thing that most work needs because it SUCKS, it did back in the mod, epoch included, and it does now. Im tired of having to stare at a ladder for 5 seconds before the 'climb up' option appears, that should be client-side. Same for vault, opening doors, selection options in your inventory, equipping/unequipping and almost everything in this fucking game where I can't properly control my character because of the NETWORK. So go with your content whine anywhere else. I want my game to work fine as any other game, then we can talk about content. Right now what I dont care is content.

    Dual pistols omg, this is not CoD. But I agree with you. I would like to carry a pistol with my right arm and be able to take out and use my compass/watch/canteen/handcuffs/keys/walkie-talkie and so on with my left hand. And, above everything else, my flashlight.

    I also change my bindings to what Im used and havent had any problem so far. Is like in any other game I have played.
  12. Today episode goes just for weapons performance and maneuver. 1- Adding a way to know which shooting mode do I have. I can change it of my M4 to 3 different, but doesn't show anywhere which one I have at the moment. IRL I would look at the weapon but ingame I can't (or can I?), so... is there a way for it to show on HUD/Inventory? 2- Taking in count chamber and magazines as different parts of the weapon, so I can put a bullet in the chamber together with a full magazine? Even BF3 has this, and since Day Z is supposed to be realistic... 3- Fixing the fast loader going inside the weapon (Fast loader != Magazine). It is funny how the fast loader of the magnum goes inside the magnum when you reload ! xD 4- Letting us be able to reload a weapon without having to empty it before (Having only 1 bullet in my magnum, still can't reload it even having a speed loader in my inventory) 5- Being able to always reload by pressing 'R', using a magazine if available or bullets one by one if possible, or just adding 1 bullet into the chamber if not. Have the devs said something about this? Im just asking because I haven't found a single thread about this particular topic.
  13. Purpose of speed loaders is ... *wait for it*... speed! This could be the 1st game in history where reloading a revolver w/o speedloader actually takes a realistic ammount of time instead of an überfasthyperskilled fingers fitting 6 bullets in a weapon in like 1.5 second xD
  14. Agree, imho everything in backpack should only be accesible through inventory management, no action keys, no hotbar.
  15. Only problem I see with 24h day cycle is that if Im used to play at 22:00pm RL everyday and its nighttime ingame, it always will be. If its daytime, always will be. So I would not be able to enjoy both of them unless I change my play time (which depends on my busy time & work time, so not an option). Accelerated time is a solution for this, but as someone stated, you dont get to enjoy night (nor day) as much if its only going to last for an hour. So, my proposed solution is to have a 19h day cycle, which would mean daytime and nighttime will last enough, and also I would get to play on different time sets even if I play always at same hours RL. To avoid the detriment of players at night, solution is even easier. Server time synchronization to main hive for the entire world. I would also synchronize weather. On public hive we should all abide by the same rules, 24/7 daytime can have his place on private servers.

    Someone finds your stash (with you around it) a discussion begins, weapons do the talking, you lose, winner is going to get the reward and :O stash teleported! I can't see this becoming true mate xD

    Drop items on the floor. Done. Have it friends do it for you. Done. Let yourself kill from zombies (how is the game gonna know if it has been intentional or no?). Only way I see is having some type of penalization from dying. Like 10 min delay before you can play again (a bit intrusive I think). Also, people should value their character's life more than their gear or anything else. This is done by giving long time characters some value new ones doesnt have. Also, as I said, healthy should be a privilege, not the norm. So why suicide to get a new char if Im gonna be injured some way or another in no time? In fact, new char should spawn already with some physical condition (non lethal and not permanent), more like dizzines, extremely tired, low in blood, muscular pain with additional trouble: limping, poor vision... Bonus: this would also discourage deatmatch I think, imagine if everytime you respawn you have to spend time healing your character before heading back to battle. Give players reasons to stick with their actual char no matter what.

    The 1:1 ratio mouse is perfect, devs say weapon wont move as fast as your head tho. But as it was now it was awful movement (for me, at least). I couldn't control my char properly. About the healthy thing, totally agree. I was thinking the same, where's the survival when all the time you are most going healthy-healthy-healthy --> you're dead. Theres no survival, all is going fine until you suddenly die. Boring. This game needs 2 things, to be a little less lethal, and a llitle more complicated to be healthy. Having a healthy status should be a privilege, most of the time we should be enduring physical conditions not lethal but causing a lot of troubles like fatigue, dizziness. Some of them would be fine if they were permanent, like an infection from a zombie bite at your face that not treated in time caused you to lose hearing from one ear. Or a chopped hand, or blind from one eye, or a smashed knee leaving you limping for the rest of your character's life. Falling from 2m high shouldn't break you a leg, but leave you limping from an ankle sprain for around 20 minuts, more if not treated. And a lot more stuff we could think of. This would be survival. Right now you are doing just fine until something kills you.

    Agree. Also, combined animations like holding a gun and a flashlight at the same time, or having the ability to attach a normal flashlight to your rifle with duct tape (im sure this one is going to be added with crafting system). Also, flashlight no only iluminates in front of you, but also sides. Two days ago light went off on my street and I had to move around my house with a flashlight xD Sure I see a lot clearly where Im pointing my flashlight, but I was also able to see better anything surrounding me (like furniture) just for turning on flashlight, regardless of where I aim with it.

    One thing that worked fine for my group was that with ingame communications I hear my friends from the direction they are and also volume depends on distance, thus adding additional information when Im trying to locate them (really, at pitch black darkness we can lose each other track even at less than 10 meters away xD). However, we still use TS. This is solely for special situations. How can't you avoid people metagaming using information their character shouldn't know (like where's a body full of stuff - aka your old char-)? you can't.

    What you do consider legitimate doesn't matter. It's legitimate because its legal to have a cheat in your computer, same as having skype. No difference between one or another from a legal perspective. So, if then its legal to make programs refusing to start when you have another program running on background, it is also legal whether it is aimbot3000 v2.0 or skype, ts or fucking Mario Kart. Legally, it is all the same. Remember, this discussion begun when someone said BiS would get sued on courts if they did that. Well, what Im defending, is they would not (or at least they wouldn't lose). 2+2=4 Rest are just opinions without any legal value.

    Read the entire post. Blocking apps is never going to do. Legitimate apps is EVERYTHING in your computer, except viruses (and if you are not using against anyone, a virus is also legal, and masochistic). But hacks aint viruses, therebore, are LEGIT. If not, you could sue those who kill you with aimbot when playing, and send them to jail. Which would be a pleasure, but its not possible XD So, lets make it clear: - Every app is a legitimate program - Never a program can block ANOTHER program of your computer - Reasons and necessity are just a matter of opinion, not a legal issue.

    You didn't understood. Doesn't block those applications, that would be illegal (I guess). Same that doesn't block hacks, hacks are also legit programs you are free to install and use, actually. But according to the ToS your game can refuse to open IF those programs are running on the background. Never its going to be invasive and shutdown those programs for you, since this would be illegal. Think of when you install a program that demands you to "please, installation needs you to close Firefox to continue" and you have a YES/NO button. Legally, those are grey areas, same with casinos. Did you know people that is actually legal to count cards in a casino when playing blackjack? they cant report you for that. But also casinos have a legal "right of admission" (translated directly from my native language). So if they want, they can put you in a black list and not let you enter the casino ever again. So, we may be not agree with BiS doing this (and they wont, this is just a fantasy from a mad player). But it is doable. For sure.

    I bet that file was more for admin testing. In case they put in some ultimate weapons (which is likely) I really doubt it's going to be the AS-50 from the mod. More like some russian high caliber rifle or so..

    A lot of games search for hacks on the background, so turns out it is not illegal. "Terms and conditions" they say. Not that they shutdown those programs, but more like they will refuse to open. Not that I agree with that, just sayin' that its not illegal at all.
