  1. Lower fps is not due to the amount of building but the amount of items, which would be completely eliminated (along with most desync causes, bandwitch consumption, performance issues and even some ESP hacks) by just getting rid of this loot system and adding one based on containers. You dont just enter a building and find apples behind the door and a pen on the floor, a motorbike helmet on the kitchen under the table and so on. But mostly you go in and interact with the fridge, then the server sends the info of whats into the fridge, same for the trunk of a car, wardrobes, crates, lockers, etc. So your pc (and also the bandwith of the server) only has to handle at most the 20-30 items dropped (mostly by people) on the actual floor, instead of the bazillion that must be now in a big city loading into your computer consuming bandwith, memory and fps. Imho, this would be another "extra bit" the devs should take care of.
  2. I would love to see the awful usage and control of the caracther fixed and changed for something smooth and intuitive. Seems like obvious but since this is not in the roadmap I guess its then that "extra bit".

Really Good Idea For Gas Masks (Please Look Dev's)

Metro 2033 was a hell of a good game. Make something like that with the gas masks and some parts of the map please.
  4. As long as they have slings for all of them and can carry the weight (or assume they aint moving at all with that) then I cant see the problem with it. I dont understand the obsession of the devs in limiting inventory in terms of space instead of weight. I can carry 10 airsoft rifles (5kg each) on my back if I want, maybe its just (more than probably) to carry them from the garage to the trunk of my car, but I can. I could also bring them to a camp, or a friend, or I took a hostage in DayZ and I want to take his weapon and drop it away but I have to drop mine 1st to do this O.o Same goes for everything else. Turns out I can only put 35 pens in my backpack, thats sooooo realistic....

    Helo crash question

Why are they off in persistent servers?
  6. Day Zombie with no zombies. Im here for the zombies so I hope they increase to number of them so we have to fight against hordes of dozens of them once in a while.
  7. if you aren't used to do exercise sure you can shatter your leg, but die? Sure you can get hit by someone (zombie in this case) and bleed, specially if they bite you, but die from bleeding by being bite by a someone with human traits and human teeth? not likely. Getting infected, feeling worse, those are acceptable. Dying? come on. I maintain what I said. There's no survive here. You just go fine and dandy until something happens and then you die. Saying this is a survival is ironic at its best. I want to play and find people missing some fingers of a hand, or an eye, or with a smashed and permament injured knee, making them unable to run not for a period of time but forever until they die (though I understand having these before vehicles would be gamebreaking), Or find people deaf from one ear because he got bite by a zombie and the wound got infected. But for this to happen, first we need some mechanics when if things go wrong (not to much tho), you can manage to survive...or at least whats left of you. Thats survival, apocalyptical & fun. Now its just like any shooter, you just go killing/griefing without any consequences until you die. Binary. No mid term.
  8. Thats a bit harsh, but with a proper networking of lets say 100 servers for the mod, you could make impossible for someone to play on the same server after dying. Shit would get serious. However im not agree with the unforgiving part, its something I find creates the opposite of whats intended. I want a survival game, which in short means having to deal with a lot of shit and actually...survive. Right now is more like im doing fine-fine-fine-fine-fine-fine-ohshit!-dead. Thats not even fun. What I want is something like fine-regular-screwed-wtf-heavilyinjured-recovering-better-almostfine-ohshit-infected-dying-sureImAboutToDie-startingToGetBetter-recovering-better-almostfine-fine-PUM-dead. Thats fun for me. But the unforgiving part just makes the game binary, either you are all in perfect conditions or you die. No mid term, no surviving all kind of shit. //Context example: if I fall from 3m high, I would like to twist an ankle and have to limp (not drag) for half and hour until I get better or smth. But, from my experience, if you fall from 3m in this game, you die xD. If you fall from 0.5m, you break a leg. (both of those happened yesterday). Too Much unforgiving...
  9. aah So the high loot is a bug, after months without playing I thought was strange but quite... realistic. Spawned next to a factory and found lots of working gloves, tools, working helmets, working boots and so on. More or less what I would expect if I enter a factory anywhere IRL, made sense to me. But you mean to tell me all the places are like that (even military ones)? Not so funny anymore...

    Weird weapon shaking in 0.45

Does this mean they have fixed now the random dispersion of the weapons and added sway in replace? or now we have both?

It is possible future of DayZ?

Yes, desync and lag warps exists on every other game not just ArmA series. What makes ArmA infinitely worst when playing it is his poorly optimization especially when it comes to client side (your computer). Lets put this example: Imagine theres a building with a ladder on one side of it, a ladder you want (and must) climb to set yourself free from the chase of a zombie horde. Now imagine this very same scenario in 2 different engines. - 1st Engine: ArmA engine You run straight to the ladder, when you get close to it, you CANT climb, because your PC is ASKING to the server what are the options available (lulz), so you just stare to that ladder until the server responds, minimum time estimated: your ping(asking) + server process time based on tickrate + your ping again(recieving) plus your human response time, then you select option "climb ladder" and here we go again, client asking, server reacting, client recieving. Congratulations, you have been staring at that ladder like an idiot for over 1.5 seonds MINIMUM with BEST OPTIMAL CONDITIONS, more than enough for the zombie horde to run 12m and hit you. But worst, what happens if the server is having a lag spike, desync problem at the moment? you're screwed, dude. 1.5 seconds can turn to 4, 5, 10... - 2nd Engine: Almost every online game non ArmA You run straight to the ladder, when you get close to it, your client ALREADY KNOWS he can climb that ladder, he just starts climbing it (not even have to wait human reaction time since you were anticipating pushing 'E' at the precise moment). Client TELLS (dont ask) the server he is climbing that ladder, server confirms action is legal, and takes measures if not (like teleporting you back). Server may suffer of desync or lag spikes anyway, but from client side, you dont even notice. You just went, climb the ladder with 0 delay, and the server can aknowledge whenever the fuck he wants, you dont care, you are already climbing as long as you're concerned. The result is a much more smooth and natural feeling when playing. This is what ArmA doesn't have, almost for everything. (Have you ever noticed when opening the option menu over an item in the inventory? it says receiving for a while before showing up the options, this idiot client doesnt even know what to do with a can of soda without asking the server first. Just nonsense).

zombies running through walls sure, the rest... well, welcome to ArmA

A case for proceedural/random loot sites

I agree with you, you just when short on your own topic. If something has a 0.000001% change of spawning, but the spawn never stops, eventually there will be thousands of those items around. Everyone will have one, not because they find it freshly spawned, but because the find it on someone elses corpse/tent/stash all the time. Given a 0.00001% spawning chance for items in a persistent world like Day Z will only render those items "rare" the first weeks. And for proofs, the mod. I used to play on a private hive where the admins used to restart the hive every 3 months because of this. At that point the amount of NVG, range finders and high end weapons around was simply too much and too common. An item with 5% spawn rate but with a limited amount of existing units would be on the long term much more rare.

A case for proceedural/random loot sites

That's precisely the problem. As I stated at the beginning, problem with your system is the endless supply of spawns, eventually the servers endup with hundreds of high end weapons just changing hands, anyone you kill is most likely to have one, which becomes yours after that (until somone kills u). Item isn't rare anymore, for anyone. This is the same problem on any MMORPG with those überitems being theorically suuuuuperrare, eventually everyone has one, and its no longer rare. To ensure high end items are rare now and in two years from now, the only way to do that is to limit the quantity of existent units.

A case for proceedural/random loot sites

Rarity with an endless suply of spawn (doesnt matter if chances are 0.000001%) are no rarity. Countless videogames prove this, many clans and nolifers (and worst, nolifer clans) laugh at you and your "rarity" excuse. Rarity in this terms means only them are gonna have those weapons. What we wanted long before and Rocket already say is going to do, is some sort of loot control with a mathematical algorithm instead of just a fixed %, where high end items are, in fact, limited. And his % is based on the amount of people already holding one, or even if you already have one, changes of spawning another near you decrease a lot (which means if you travel with a group you are likely to be the only one with that weapon forever). Idea for this method are many and varied, but I hope, whatever do the devs, keep it secret. So no one would know how to exploit the system to increase % rate of spawning. Needless to say that with this, your rarity system based on random locations renders useless. Rarity is done by itself, whatever players do, when all weapons are spawned, no more will spawn. No more clans with full arsenals of AS50.

    Torture in DayZ SA?

"torture" may have a purpose. I gain nothing from raping a handcuffed guy ingame, but if I handcuff you maybe I'll shoot you once or twice to make you lose blood, then bandage, force feed you rotten fruit and then release you. The reason I did so is to avoid immediate revenge, cuz you're now on blurry vision and got bigger problems right now. Even if you find a gun and ammo in the next 5 minutes you aint going against me, first you have to puke to heal food poisoning, and then find enough food/water to heal. ETA.. around 30 minuts I would say, more than enough for me to finish my business there and gtfo. How can I do this if shooting handcuffed isn't allowed? So yeah, im torturing you technically, but it was just a mean to an end. And to be honest, the reason I did that was so I didnt have to kill you. Turns out im actually a good person  (xD)

DayZ moving to new engine - ENFUSION

too much work for the CPU. Server Physics for walls are done for players because if not, a hacker could just write a simple script where he "asks the server to go from A -> B" where in between theres a wall, and the server would say "ok, deal" rendering thus an actual way to go across walls. But the zombies are never going to become hackers and cheat (the day they do that Terminator will be a reality), so if the zombie asks the server to go from A -> B the server immediately says yes, since we can assure its not a cheat move. However the responsible of asking the server for zombie moves is 100% solely and purely the AI. So if the AI pathfinding is not well done, the zombies "cheat". Creating a physics not allowing for zombies to go across walls won't fix the pathfinding problem (zombies would start hugging walls like idiots) so you will have to fix the AI either way, but you now have and extra (and heavy) work for the CPU to calculate also the pyshics of the zombies, when with the correct pathfinding isn't needed at all.

    Torture in DayZ SA?

Children and rape I think its something they cant add for legal motives. But cannibalism and dismember is something I definitely would like to see ingame. And if you dont like torture you simply dont torture anyone ingame, thats the beaty of it, the different personalities of the players ingame. Its not like any CoD or CS or more or less any game when everyone is the same (a soldier, an assassin, or whatever). You can't choose to play cod peacefully without ever killing someone, but you can do so in DayZ. Same you can choose to be the sickest bastard on earth. This is why I love this game, sets the psychology playability to a new level.

    Damage Models Stepping Backwards

Not that I agree with you, but I do believe characters die to easily in this game. I think its stupid for guns to deal numeric damage meaning for example 1 bullet from a mosin takes away 5000 blood in 1 shot. I think this system should completely change, a bullet shouldn't take blood of you, it should create an injury with a set of values: blood lose per second, pain and movement restrictions. If pain of all your wounds is too much causes you a shock and you may fall unconscious and eventually die of blood lose or a heart attack unless you recieve immediate assistance (and depending on the injury maybe not saving you at all), but no immediate death. And assistance should include field surgery with a medic sewing kit, morphine dosis to stand pain and shock, ephinefrine and movement restrictions for a long periods of time (hours) maybe permanent some of them. The only exceptions to this rule should be a straight bullet to the heart or brain (and notice I didnt say chest or head), causing you an immediate death.

    Would you prefer 2d scopes?

I want killing floor scopes and ofc, with locked FOV when scoping for proper zoom settings

Did you run a DayZ mod server? If so...

I did have one, public hive. Besides ban and kick there was nothing else in the software provided by the server, though you had access to logs. On public hive I couldn't spawn anything, or teleport anyone, nor having an invisible admin or some of those features you have on every other game (and im ok with that) but after a bit of investigation and installing a lot of external software I could pretty much know everything that was happening to my server (including where were people, vehicles, tents and much more, which could be abused pretty hard by a badmin). My day to day was reading chats and shifting through logs whenever someone complained about a hacker to verify it, if I found it was true, bann the guy and then restart the server to despawn everything the hacker spawned (this was all I could do).
  23. This is going to make sense when private hives make appearence. I couldn't care less about a server with 218198 vehicles, starting gear and bullshit like that because its never going to affect my playing on mi vanilla server. I wont play what I dont like, as you said. But not playing a server on public hive doesn't avoid for it to affect your playing. If I have to put up with people o gangs gearing up on easy mode servers with daylight 24/7, no KoS, 1hr restart and then coming to my server to screw things up with his non deserved easy gear then his shitty configuration server is affecting MY play. Has nothing to do with "I dont like it, i dont play it". Public hive should all abide by the same rules. All servers time/wather synchronized, loot persistent through restart with respawn cycle or whatever and not friendly servers bullshit (this is already a reality btw). This way, all servers are the same, and all players play the same difficulty. P.D: not that this is much of a factor right now, since gearing up is easy enough doesn't matter the server you play, and respawn isnt implemented yet so no restart = no loot. But im talking in regards to the future of public hive.
  24. If they gonna put über enemies in let it be aliens at least, I would play it for sure. But everyone knows a zombie aint dangerous, zombieS are, in plural, cuz their main weapon is numbers. They easily outnumber you. When (if) zombies in DayZ get to really be in serious numbers (hundreds in one single place) you are going to have that serious threat you're looking for, even with the 1 bullet/axe thing.
