Tutorials for crafting, base building, locks...
ShallowTech replied to ShallowTech's topic in New Player Discussion
I did a search, RED Tie was really good. He has one on crafting that is straight to the point and covers a lot! Thank guys for the information. It would be great to know what exactly is able to be crafted in DayZ Xbox, that way I do not waste time trying to make something or gather materials for something I can not build. Does anyone know if leather gear can be crafted or bows/arrows? Been playing DayZ forever but just getting back into it and have not played much on Xbox but really enjoying myself again! -

great, thank you. -
Okay so how about we create a post that is more positive and helpful :-) Maybe some of you can share what you know about the loot system on the Xbox (console servers). What loot spawns where? For instance do I have any chance of finding an M4 in an apartment building or train car, etc. What path you might take when you first spawn. Your favorite locations besides military locations.

@Max Planck Thank you sir!

Cheating to get an unfair advantage in any game is the same. Regardless of how you are exploiting the game to gain this advantage.

If you add the ammo to the hot bar, does it pull the mag in the gun, reload it and then put the mag back in? Or do you have to have a loaded mag in the hotbar to swap it? Also, I thought the controls showed that you could hold down Y

Yes I agree with these points. If possible it would be great if they would force a log out timer so people can not combat log and ghost so easily. Or if there was a way to not allow players to logout while in combat, that would be good too. For instance, once you fire a weapon, you have to wait longer if you try to log out...

Well has this been requested as a feature update on Microsoft's site? I just added a idea... This would be a really great feature. https://xboxideas.uservoice.com/

@McPhorce Good information, thank you! Love the profile pic!

Well in all fairness he has some valid reason to be frustrated. I mean, 4 million copies or so sold on Xbox alone... that is some serious cash! However, there are almost no games like DayZ and I have hope that they will get it together one day! Make DayZ Great Again :-) I remember the days in the DayZ mod, flying helicopters, driving cars, having fun... even with all the issues. This game is one of a kind and hopefully someone realizes this, so that this game or a new DayZ takes survival genre to a whole new level! If this game maintained the size, graphics, complexity but ran as smooth as Battle Field 5... Oh I would be a happy gamer!

Holy crap really! It is a game IRL... your decisions are based on your character and cheating at Chess or cheating at DayZ are the same unethical behaviors in your character.
-
Agree, actually read this after my last post... it is easy for people like this because they have no conscience about it. I am sure they would cheat IRL if they could get away with it. It is just like people that go online and say horrible things to each other. They would do it in IRL too if they could get away with it. You are 100% correct, it is how many in our society think these days and it impacts gaming and the internet in general.
-
You have a wife and kids but you are unethical... well that is good news. Interesting how you justify your exploiting a game because "you have a life". All of us have lives, some of us choose not to cheat in life. Of course it is just a game but playing unethically in any other type of game or sport would be frowned upon, just like it is in the gaming community. Your post only gives everyone here a little insight into your personal character. Additionally, just because it is your input does not make it valid or right.

This comment was stupid and inflammatory. The game is not developed to be played like this and it ruins the experience for old and new players.

Private servers would be okay but public servers should also have some fixes for this issue applied. If players do not like the game being a survival game and only want to jump in, exploit and loot up, they will probably not be around long anyway so who cares if they play the game or not! They already bought it anyway :-) The fact is, the game was not developed to be played this way and the company should not cater to the complaints of those exploiting aspects of the game to get an unfair advantage against other players. I mean, why add farming, loot, fishing, hunting, crafting, etc. if you only wanted people to run around and KOS all the time. They could have just developed a crappy battle royal and been done with it! These two options could dramatically reduce this issue. It does not seem that these would be difficult to implement. Timers that increase if hopping servers frequently or in a certain amount of time between changing servers Spawn location changes slightly or completely if server frequently changing servers Anyone playing this game as it was intended to be played, would not have an issue with this. I can see if there were server stability issues and people were getting dropped, then this might be an issue but something really should be done. The entire game environment, community would be much more enjoyable if everyone worked hard to get gear and survive.

Yeah, thanks. I got all that information already and I have actually been playing DayZ since it was a mod... I remember when there were helicopters... :-( Anyway, it is unfortunate that the game drops frames and lags around people but I agree with your points on that. It is those instances that when you are looting and someone spawns in right on you that are irritating. I do not mind a good fight and I have killed a couple fools trying to server hop on me. Regardless it would be nice if there was a timer to at least reduce these occurrences. Obviously this game has PvP but it is a survival game first. Normally it is me, my cousin and a good friend that play this together. Our friend is new to the game so he has some trouble finding us ;-). It is a great game, it has had some much potential but little things like server hopping can really ruin the experience. I am sure that the developers did not intend for the game to be played in that fashion. If they did then they would have just put a gun and ammo in every house. It is survival, supplies are limited and when someone takes advantage of an exploit like this it really takes away from the core of this game.

Please Bohemia can we get character locked servers?
ShallowTech replied to TheYetiBum's topic in Xbox
I like your above options, all we are asking is to put in some deterrent to prevent people from taking advantage of this. You can scout a mil base all you want but if you go in and some guy server hops behind you, fully geared... you are done. I like playing hardcore, i like the interaction, combat when needed, helping others, etc. but server hopping to farm gear takes away from this and the survival aspect. Another helpful option would be to make food more scarce around high value loot areas. That along with time penalties would really help reduce this issue. -

It is not a feature, it is an exploit that people take advantage of to get an unfair edge against players who are playing the game fairly and how it was designed to be played. It is not a death match or a battle royal, it is a survival game and this server hopping ruins this type of game. -

The only reason would be availability, it would suck to get on to play with friends and the server where you have your character is full. Personally, with the current state of the game and no fix for server hopping, I would rather just deal with starting a new character on new servers but it would also be nice to load in and play my character without having to worry about people server hopping... It is to bad people are so crappy. -

Hopefully it will not die on console, it is a great game and a lot of fun to play with friends. Personally I believe OP is right in regards to this being a major problem in the game. It takes away from the game completely. When all someone has to do is run to one location and then jump from server to server looting. Then once they have a gun with some ammo, just KOS to troll other players. Pretty lame mentality if you ask me but I guess I just like to play games fair and not be a cheap little punk. Anyway, I stopped playing because of this and server crashes, just picked it up again and would love to seem some of this quality of life stuff fixed. [sniiip] -
This issue only seems to be worse with the console community and all the little kids running around like it is a death match!
-
Wow, this is a really big problem and really takes away from the realistic survival game this has always been. The timer should increase depending on how often you server hop, like Breaking Point did! So first time, 5 min wait, second hop within 20 min, 15 min wait... seriously is there an admin or developer that can comment on plans to reduce or eliminate server hoping? It sucks to be surviving legitimately, run up to a military camp only to have a server hopper spawn behind you and KOS with an AR and a unlimited supply of ammo!
-
Dude it says right in the agreement that it is a game preview...
-
Just wondering when Xbox One version will get a fix for server hopping? It is a little out of control at the moment. Any time you are in a military zone, you are dealing with a group of server hopping fools, fully geared just blowing people away. This really takes away from the game considering all you need to do is run to a military location and hop servers until you are fully geared. Pretty crappy for those that are playing the game, how it is meant to be played.
