Survivor: "Oh dude, zombies are too easy. They're not even an annoyance for me anymore." Survivor was killed. Me: "What happened?" Survivor: "F'n Zombies!"

Guess the Person's play style above you :)
creature replied to a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
By day, Cdrive prefers to run rampantly through the fields under the name "Duke Nukem" yelling "come get some!" and ripping wild boars to shreads with his MK 48 MOD. But.. Late at night he sneaks into servers to teabag the dead zombies. This is now commonly known as "Closeted Necrophelia". -
This. Since we don't know ALL the specs of said PC, it's safe to assume most of it will not be compatable with a new mobo. For instance, current setup may have ide drives, new mobo may only have sata connections. Is his power supply up to the task of a newer system? A PC is much more than it's seperate components. OP, while there is nothing wrong with your pc for most everyday tasks, it's simply a bit behind for gaming. I'd suggest looking into a new one, especially if you plan on getting the SA when it's released.

Guess the Person's play style above you :)

Is actually a 75 yr old man, withered and wrinkled who likes to stand in random yards in Starry Sobor shaking his fist and telling everyone who passes by to "Stay the hell offa my lawn." To this day, he's never been killed. -
I can vouch for that corsair headset. That 7.1 "surround" has saved my ass a few times in game. According to friends, the mic sounds good too.
-
^This. Or, if you hang out on a private server you may be able to get 'em in a trade.

I'll go ahead and suggest atv's. For the most part, they're easier to hide than tents and they're portable. Just make sure you learn all their quirks first. Avoiding bridges is a major one. lol. If you have a decent pack you can keep 2 primary weapons on you and a spare tire or 2 and shoot out your tires before you log out to help try and keep your ride.

A word of caution. Going from XP to 7 could be very detrimental to your gaming experience unless you're upgrading your PC as well. 7 has MUCH steeper requirements and causes games to suffer greatly that run very well on the same machine with XP.

Descendants of Valor is recruiting.
creature replied to DoV Roller's topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
Bringing this to the top. Been on this server most of the day. Good bunch of people from what I saw in the small amount of chat in side. No one saw me though. lol I'ma try and get 2 of my friends on here soon. -
I see you took that advice. I tried to check out the server but it was too dark to see. If you're going on local time, changing the day/night cycle would increase traffic. We all know you can't use a flashlight in this game and it shows in the server list.

Bonfire, buying bases and 'rules'
creature replied to jdz (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
This. I have no problem with private servers giving perks for "donations". I do feel they should be sensible enough to keep perks/donations to a minimum. For example a $5 donation will spawn with camo or a ghillie, $10 would get you camo or ghillie and a revolver. Nothing higher than that. And that would actually be a disadvantage for a fresh spawn. You become a target with other players assuming you're fully equipped. -
Being a Lone wolf, you should consider it.
creature replied to mitor's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So, your bored and babied clans need someone to shoot at who's not protected by admins? I've looked into all that. Sad, really. Protection of their base camps etc? I see why you have to search for others to play that server. Lone players are challenged every day they play reguardless of the server. -
v175 beta: meat issues [solved] [old]
creature replied to Dayzo's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think people need to drop the whole "unrealistic" idea. How realistic is it that you get shot in the head by a .50 cal and run back to your group a few minutes later? To the devs, push the lone wolves away from the mod and I feel there will be a lot of empty servers out there. -
Same mouse and the dpi buttons work fine for me in game. I can't get the extra buttons to work in game though, they were the reason I bought the mouse. lol

Uhmm... What?

When I start to get bored I look for loners to follow. I try to just beat them to the better loot spawns and sometimes take warning shots at them when their being stupid. I've done this over 10 times now and only been spotted once. The dude knew I was following for over an hour but said he could never quite find me. That is, until he shot me creeping out of the pub in Elektro as he was arriving. Good times.

Is there any decent gear in cherno??
creature replied to richjones19772000's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Weapons spawn on top of the town hall in Cherno as well. You can get fully stocked in cherno in about 15 minutes. If you can aim at all, the Lee Enfield is a damn decent weapon. -
DayZ Commander really is the way to go. You can even keep notes on any given server. Helps a lot if you have multiple characters going.
-
Go into the setup options for DayZ Commander and UN-check "run with steam" and you'll be set.

Proof that bags are too small
creature replied to Sterling (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You can't use weight as a defense against larger capacity. How much does an engine, fuel tank, 2 wheels and a windscreen glass weigh? -
Zen, I think you miss the point of this "game". It's not a game really, it's a modified sandbox mode of a game. Human nature is the game. People can do what they want. The "game" is nothing more than what you make of it. Do you think in a real apocolyptic world you could just run into a town and loot some shit? If you want to be rewarded for following the same script as everyone else and doing only the things you're suppose to do, stick with consoles and your "made to win" games.
-
Go to the settings in DayZ Commander and make sure "Launch using steam" is NOT checked. That worked for a friend yesterday.
-
Another thing about DayZ Commander that hasn't been mentioned is notes. You can keep notes about where you are, what you have, etc. on a given server. Handy if you play private hives.

If you're impatient and can get a deal on Arma2:OA, I say go for it. I just started playing a week ago. From what I've read the standalone version will be better but I wasn't willing to wait.
