It's suppose to be hard and hopefully when it reaches full release, it will be. Expect it to very difficult at times and then way too easy at other times throughout the process though. As someone who's played the mod for a long time now, I'm pretty damn happy with what they've done thus far! -

Are People Keeping Characters Between Sessions?

Lol. I went unconscious late last night. Respawned and played for about 10 minutes. When I logged in today I had the gear I had before respawning and my vision was clear. I was still complaining about being hungry and thirsty ( I thinkI was ill) but I got a good hour out of that gear. Gotta love an alpher! -
The whole "server time is based on location" thing. That's the most preposterous claim I've seen yet. It's not dark outside at noon on the east coast of the US. No clue about server restart is BAD. I miss dayz commander. If you can't get into a house because the doorway is too high and if you vault, you end up inside the floor. (stay away from Myshkino) Noobs posting on the forum without a clue as to the meaning of alpha. Just as easy to lose gear in the inventory system as in the mod. Otherwise, jolly good show so far!

I found one today. It's still daytime as well. Don't just try different servers, also try different hosts. Vilayer and gameservers all seem to be night for me.

Yeah, I saw your edit after my post. While I agree with having more "local items", I don't really think right now is the time for all the trivial posts that are popping up. Everyone has been forewarned that a LOT of things won't be in game for quite some time. Yet, here are all these post wanting cars, bikes, more weapons, more Z's, add this, pull that, etc.. That's not what alpha is about and I'm sure there are modelers and texturers working on ALL of that stuff. We're here to fish out bugs and give feedback as to how things are working right now.

Have you even followed the games development? You should know full well that they're making weapons from scratch and only have a few ready. Edit, that also holds true for most everything thats not in game yet.

You should have heeded Dean's warning of "Do not buy this game!" He's stated over and over and over that if you aren't ready for disappointment, don't buy. Or, get very use to it and fast. It'll be like this or worse for months.

I hate to say it but, it's an alpha. They're making the weapons from scratch and only a few are ready. I'm sure we'll see more civilian type weapon spawns in time. Keeping the m4's in military spawns only makes sense, and there seem to be plenty to go around. Both weapons and military buildings. (I'm loving the new Chernarus, though I would like to see daylight one day) The balancing act with loot is likely to change quite a few times in the near future so I wouldn't worry too much about it right now.
