Welcome to DayZ! First, make sure you have little to nothing running in windows when you play DayZ as it's VERY CPU intensive. Have a look at this video. He explains what most of the settings do and which ones affect FPS the most. I'm running pretty close to the second setup with a few things tweaked to make it prettier.

It takes a little while for the item to show up on the ground, it's not instant. Usually right behind you.

There are little storage boxes in game for this. :) -
Things will change once they introduce the weapons that we would find in houses or barns. Too many M4's and military spawns causing people run up and down the west side of the map atm will hopefully be evened out soon.

Too much of an exploit. For example: You could gear up 2 dudes and have them both at the NWAF. Some random shoots you. You spawn back in with dude #2 and shoot him. Not gonna happen.

My experience has been the opposite. I'm carrying the fire axe and wearing a helmet and fresh spawns come at me with their fists? Really? They're either new to DayZ or just plain stupid. That guy was clearly waiting for you to go by so he could whack ya. Wuss. I'll give him beans too though for not logging. To the dumbass with the axe! :beans:

You'll never be able to have 2 characters on the public hive. That is, unless you create a second steam account and buy the game again. When private servers come out you'll be able to have as many as you like but they will be tied to that particular server.

He's got a laptop. :rolleyes: OP: CPU speed is likely your culprit. You may actually do better with some settings on normal rather than low as it will use the GPU a little more taking some strain off the CPU. Good luck. :beans:

I'm more partial to ones who don't use stairs but rather walk through the floor. Always look down in any building not at graound level.

I guess it depends on wether your hunting z's or players eh? M4 all day. Unless I have a fire axe. That thing is beast!

Hit the nearest well, drink a ton of water (you dont need a canteen at a well) and run straight to Zelenogorsk. Skip everything until you get there. Thank me later. Everytime I play, Zeleno is less than half looted. Subject to change after I hit "Post". If you want to fist fight, stay on the coast, ;) -

Yep, my friend finally got his monitor in so he got in the game today. I ran down from Zeleno with my trusty fire axe to meet him and hook him up with food and a canteen. Had 1 dude with a bat, same dude bare fisted, another dude with a pipe wrench and some chick with a knife all within 20 minutes. In Kamenka of all places. If they weren't noobs, they suck. Good times!
