AW shit son, here we go again. The original images are as follows: 1 A tubular muzzle flash, about 6 feet long, from the muzzle of an AR-15 with a 16 inch barrel. In broad daylight. 2 A lenticular muzzle flash, about a 2 feet long, from the muzzle of an AR-15 with a 16 inch barrel. In the early afternoon. On a rooftop. Your images are as follows: 1 A 3 foot long lenticular muzzle flash, from a 14" barrel, at twilight. 2 A 2 foot long conical muzzle flash, from a 14" barrel, at night. 3 A 2 foot long conical muzzle flash, from a 14" barrel, indoors. 4 A 2 foot long conical muzzle flash, from a Mosin carbine, in a shaded woods. 5 A (gorgeous) 4 foot long conical muzzle flash, from a Mosin carbine, at dusk. Before I make any assumptions, are you an adult, with a basic understanding of the operating principles of firearms and/or the difference between light and dark?

Yeah I'm trying to get a friend into Dayz. I think that the lack of a respawn button just ruined the game for him. He was running down the road when his legs broke. Middle of a field, no zombies. 45 minutes of crawling around eating rotten fruit to try and die. It's one thing to be hardcore in a solid game, but in an alpha where your leg can get broken spontaneously via bug, it's fucking stupid to make people crawl around for hours or wait to die of thirst.

I forgot how much fun this thread was.

You'd probably appreciate this as well. http://www.endotactical.com/

Glock exports to 40+ countries, to include country specific models such as the Glock Mariner (Phillipines) Glock 17dk (Denmark) and Glock 17Pro (Finland). I'm just gonna leave this here. http://www.themoscowtimes.com/business/article/rostec-joins-forces-with-austrian-companies/485536.html http://eu.glock.com/english/index_download.htm AR-15's are also manufactured and sold worldwide. M4s and variants are likewise made and sold worldwide. In Europe in particular: http://www.luvo.cz/products/rifles/ http://www.oberlandarms.com/produkte-infos-rifles--de--OA+Selbstladeb%FCchsen+Rifles.html http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2011/10/19/izhmash-subsidiary-molot-to-manufacturer-russian-ar-15-rifle/ http://www.hera-arms.com/ You turkeys can argue over whether Glocks, which are a product of Eastern Europe, have penetrated into an imaginary Eastern European country, without anyone doing the easiest bit of research. That sounds productive. [Edit] I'll take all of the guns they'll throw at me.

*nudge nudge* Glock Ges.m.b.H., is located in Deutsch-Wagram, Austria. Shhhhhh don't tell anyone.

Funny, I can't find any information on the import/export laws for firearms in Chernarus. Maybe someone can post a link to a Chernarus gov't website with import/export laws? Wikipedia and the CIA World Factbook are broken apparently, they have exluded Chernarus completely. This is making it hard for me to discern whether or not there would be Glock 18s in Chernarus, but everybody else seems quite confident that there would never be a western machine pistol available in any former Soviet block country. What a connundrum!

B Pos. Says it in permanent marker on the cuff of some boots my uncle gave me a long time ago.

Sure he said tha t he wanted to be part of the devel opment process. Sure, he paid money to be part of the develo pment process. Sure, the application that he downloaded was clearly marked as "in development". But can you really blame him for cloning every other idiotic "gee, this alpha is alpha-ish" thread? Oh yeah... you can. I don't want to be part of alpha, so I'm not. I'll gladly pay a few dollars more to play a more polished beta when it comes out so that I'm not burned out by the time the final product rolls around. Steam has plenty of games to fill my time while I wait. It's just that simple.

Steam takes a (probably rather large) cut. The Czech Gov't likely takes a cut. The US gov't almost certainly takes a cut. BI just hired a load of people to work on the project. New offices to house them. A lot of the money will get rolled into current and furture development. Some of the money will get rolled around in by a buck naked BI CEO.

Unless there are zombie chickens, healthy chickens will continue shitting eggs every week. Also, wild birds will continue to lay eggs, meaning that this would be a good source of protein in the woods.

This is probably a good time to point out the difference between maximum distance and maximum effective range. The only example I can recall off the top of my head is the MK19, which (according to Uncle Sugar) has a maximum effective range of 1500 yards, but a maximum distance of like 2300 yards. Of course, the MK-19 isn't the best example because it's a plunging fire weaon with explosive rounds, but you get the idea and I can't remember any others. :D

I'll just leave that there. There is nothing inherently inaccurate about .22 lr. It has limitations, but accuracy per se isn't one of them. At least, not within the skill level of most shooters. Kirsten Joy Weiss or Tarl Kempley might have room to complain, but most of us do not.

Methinks people are regurgitating a lot of very old, very unscientific, unsourced interwebz bollocks. Cite sources (even if you are the primary source) or at least have the decency to admit that you don't know where you heard this shite. It's not difficult. http://www.buckeyefirearms.org/node/7866

Okay now you're just feeding the trolls, man. Don't feed the trolls.

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but it didn't show up in a search query. Anybody discussed rain ponchos? They are pretty ubiquitous, keep the rain off and double as a makeshift tent. There is a wide range of ponchos too. Super-shitty PVC yellow ponchos that people keep in emergency kits, to trashbags. Every military offers ponchos as issued gear, and they are usually nicer and more durable like the alpenflage ponchos. There are high end ponchos like the Kifaru Woobie or the Hill People Gear Mountain Serape, and the Smokin Kloke that have significant thermal properties. This seems like an obvious item to include, has this come up before?
-
Oh FFS why the hell didn't that show up in a query for "poncho"? Wave off.

Removal of elevation adjustments by 100s of meters.

IIRC DayZ was conceived as a training simulator. Your character isn't granted arbitrary abilities based on arbitrary XP. If you know how to navigate by the stars, you have an advantage. If you figure it out while playing, you gain an advantage. It behooves everyone to take the time to learn this suff, and BI should continue to pile on realistic elements. If learning isn't for you, there are plenty of simplified run and gun games (which shall remain nameless). Maybe ARMA/DayZ just aren't for you. -
There is so much trolling going on here. FoamNinja, I salute your deadpan delivery. Everybody else needs to run a sarchasm check before firing off angry rebuttals.

Now I know where to go for my 2nd choice of residency.

I think .22lr would be great for players like myself who are perfectly content to stay up in the hills and hunt, rarely ever coming south and avoiding cities and military camps. The best way to survive a gun battle is to avoid it. ;)
-
Don't take it that way. Plenty of skilled hunters have never so much as heard of MOA, but could put you down with .22lr out to 200m with open sights. Most of the world does just fine with Minute of Man rather than Minute of Angle.

I suppose I'll take the bait. First, your distain for .22 marks you as one who has never been shot at, and very likely never employed a firearm. Do try to learn from those who have experience; it doesn't hurt and it might just help. .22lr almost killed Ronald Reagan, and it left James Brady permanently paralyzed. .22lr properly employed has been taking deer for well over a century, and continues to do so in the Southern US in spite of laws against .22 for hunting large game. Unless you are more bulletproof than a deer .22 will kill you. I have a box of Aguila SSS subsonic sitting next to me. It's a 60gr projectile that travels ~850 fps. That's bigger than M193 ball ammo at 55 gr, and it's deadly quiet out of a YHM 30 cal suppressor. You will not find it, but it will find you. CCI Velocitor runs 40gr @ 1430 fps. Here's what it looks like through ballistic medium. Imagine this running through your thigh. If your opponent is running a Ruger with BX-25 magazines, this bullet will be bringing 24 friends to the party in your pants. Fun! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEDo_PbAvJc Anyhow, whenever anyone smirks at .22 long rifle, I invite them to take the ".22lr Tough Guy Challenge". Pick any part of your tough-guy anatomy that you aren't using (brain, penis, big toe) and we'll test out your theory. PM me for details.

I'd love it if you could drop your ruck and use it to stabilize the rifle from the prone. Obviously there would need to be animations for this, but in my experience bipods are great from the bench and a pain in the ass everywhere else. These days all of my bipods are sitting in a drawer, and I stuff a rucksack with blankets for the range. Shooting off a ruck > shooting from a bipod. And remember, good firing positions are a luxury.

Drawing blood from yourself when healthy?

Only if they have empty blood bags. Any blood bags found lying on a beach should be immediately suspect.
