  1. I know you're concerned with game architecture at this point, but I've been curious; will Standalone feature the new lighting and movement animations from ArmA 3. I'm really hoping for that new "combat pace" and better animations.
  2. I was just looking for info on whether or not Standalone will feature ArmA 3's new combat animations as well. There's like half crouches and leans and a combat pace for running with your gun aimed.. I really hope they steal those from the new game. I'm sure with all the new environments and open buildings in ArmA 3 they put in work on clipping.

An Actual in game Day Z

    sounds great
  4. Damn. Some big ass posts in here. Wish I wasn't on my phone at work x.x What I mean is I feel like there's some sort of pressure to make sure everyone gets food, and everyone gets a weapon and supplies within their first 30 minutes of walking through 3 buildings. I'll look at some of the bigger posts later Edit: I tried my best to express my thoughts delicately, but it seems that people that agree, fully listen, and those against nitpick certain fragments of what I said, not really understanding what I tried to say.
  5. So what do you do? Store the img files on a HDD? Just run HDD and 32GB RAM?

    Realism vs bullshit

Its called suspension of disbelief. We put aside what is real to accept what this universe is telling us is real. Things dont have to be hyperrealistic, just realistic to this universe to keep us immersed. If it doesnt fit, it breaks our immersion/experience
  8. This is my opinion on the direction of the DayZ development and plea to return it to that of a Sandbox experience and not a *game*. See, a game is something you can win. A sandbox is something you can come to and *play* in. You take from it what you want. Its an experience that is visceral, memorable. That's why this game (we use game as a convenient term to call it) offers something nothing else can. To rocket: You already know this, and I'm not saying you've lost touch. I just want to remind you where we are. I enjoy testing, and fully understand alpha and implementing new features changes everything on a weekly basis now almost. However, when the game had fewer features and was more stable, I had some of the most moving experiences from any game I've ever played. The immersion and intesity takes you away from the fact that you're behind a mouse and keyboard. It's addicting. Keep in mind, I'm not a roleplayer, or a hardcore addict, or a casual. I'm an enthusiest. Recently, I've felt that everything has become a bit gamey. Everything is starting to seem convenient. I have even see certain posts where you used the words balancing or rebalancing in regards to loot or spawns, which are words I didn't think you'd use. Tweak the numbers to how you want, don't balance. One of my biggest issues is the awareness of death and respawns. It was only a matter of time, sure, but the acceptance and abuse of 'oh I'll just spawn somewhere else' is lame. In my opinion, features are good, structure is bad. Some people just like structure. They like being told where to go or how to play. Not you and i, though. I'm not saying make it harder, just make it inconvenient. That's how I feel. If anyone else feels the same, show your support by posting here. Thanks.
  9. ARMA 2 is pretty taxing on PCs. You need good hardware to run it. Search for other threads, there's plenty of info on getting better performance. As for third person, you can change which key that is bound to in the controls. For game smoothness, you're probably getting stuttering from HDD streaming. Read some of the info in my thread HOW TO STREAM DAYZ OFF RAMDISK
  10. Get attached to equipment when the game is more stable. For now, test it, report bugs. Hopefully that expedites the process.

    Heartbeats! Are they broken?

With the last patch that still had the Humanity Face Indicator, I respawned with an angry face, even though I had no murders on the new character. Me thinks humanity sticks with your player ID now.
  12. I don't know' date=' but when I first did it I saw a noticeable performance increase. Unsure of if it was just the patch, though. It does, however, completely rule out streaming as an issue for the game from now on. Definitely something people with slow HDDs should look at. You should be running the beta patch anyways, which is in the install directory of OA
