Because that's the most logical outcome when it comes to a change like that. Not everyone would play the game the way Rocket'd play it or play it like he would at all. 80% (probably more) of the people aren't morally struggling with themselves after shooting someone in a game like he would. I think Rocket thought too much of us as a community when he removed it and he probably aknowledges that now since he's reintroducing the idea behind it. I agree with you on almost everything JulieMeyers but sadly the DayZ community as a whole forces these kind of changes upon the game because the majority doesn't play it as immersed as you do. -
If Rocket sticks to his guns we have nothing to worry about. He stated he wants the game to be much more unforgiving and make it harder to survive. I'm not so sure if many players want the game to become harsher though as Dayz has slowly turned into an open world pvp game instead of a survival game. I feel that removing endless sprinting would be a small yet very noticable tweak. Not only is it super unrealistic but it also makes dealing with zombies such a breeze since they can't hit you when you're moving.

It's too easy to abuse the spawn mechanic, i do it all the time. I agree it needs drastic changes. -
Short and specific, 3 stages: Infected, Fiercely infected and past the point of being able to be healed. As the title says add the need for anti infective drugs or you'd turn (DIE!) after a set amount of time. Every fresh spawn would start out infected, no exceptions. There would be consumables (meds) to slow down the infection. I was thinking somewhere along the lines of the blood transfusion mechanic to apply a remedy to stop the infection completely. Perhaps by mixing certain plants/herbs together which could spawn around the world's forest areas. The infection would have a chance to become fierce if you approach a dead player's body, dead zombie's body or trough another player in your close proximity who is infected with a fierce virus variant. There should be long term effects for players who'd be staying alive by only using the medication, think of it as a demi-zombie. Your aim would be shit, you'd be out of breath the entire time, you'd need to consume a LOT more food/water and your vision would turn blood red completely when near other survivors. Long story short we're all sick and dying work together to stay alive or go over to the dark side.

Implying that changing your starting gear or adding disease were useful changes. They are things added to the game in hopes of changing player behaviour and tweaking gameplay without putting artificial blocks on people. People will quit whenever Rocket tries something new or experimental, nothing new. The point of these boards iirc is not to add "useful" features to the mod. -

Damn the suggestion forum is such a flooded mess. Scerun you got exactly what i was aiming for, increasing the difficulty and reasons to work together in a realistic fashion. I'd like to add that the way i suggested it were just my views and vision of the concept as i was creating the post. The main idea is adding a means of having to work together to stay alive or choosing not to participate and suffer the consequence of forcefully becoming anti-social in game. I feel this fits in the DayZ concept well as it doesn't limit either bandit or survivor playstyle all that much. I was inspired by watching Sidestrafe's interview with Rocket. Rocket stated he wanted to make the game even more punishing and harder to survive in without limiting everyones playstyle or putting artificial blocks on it. My train of thought: -It would make corpse running a bigger risk. -It would add an insentive to play together or the choice to be a lone wolf. -Looting anything that you've killed or someone else becomes a risk. -Pointless killing would be reduced. -Another set of items to hunt for aside from your basic needs. -It's experimental which fits DayZ's current state perfectly. What are your thoughts everyone? Please share them if you like/dislike this idea or how you would see it working. -
Seeing as Rocket's trying to figure out better ways to make people work together. With that in mind, i think wiping and putting everyone on the same level would go hand in hand Seeing as this is a mod in alpha stage i'd say go for it. Makes me wonder why this doesn't happen more often to begin with.

This wouldn't be such a big deal if people would stop duping all their shit or cheating to obtain something which should be extremely rare in the game.

Multiplayer Stalker would be awesome lol. I really do like this idea as long as it doesn't magically heal every wound I mean, if someone would get shot in the head or other vital spots. You shouldn't be able to walk and tell the tale afterwards. I imagine it being somewhat like the Saving Private Ryan scene where they all gathered around their field medic who got shot in the liver. Everyone gathering around and trying to save their fallen comrade.

OP is voicing his opinion on moaners, moaning. Just as every individual is allowed to voice their own opinion on how to make the game "better." (in reality: whine about it.) I do agree it's a good idea to voice your opinion but not in the direction it's going now. These aren't suggestions which feed Rocket's creative mind, these are whine/bitch threads about them not wanting to adapt to new situations and features added.

Not a bad idea, I was actually enjoying myself a couple of patches ago when food/water spawns were f'd up. Was really happy to run into a cow lol. -
I completely agree however the constant flow of whine/complain threads on these boards is getting out of control. There's a large chunk of this community now who'll never be satisfied period. The whining won't stop, the complaining won't stop and they'll keep destroying every good idea because the actual players who are enjoying themselves are guess what, PLAYING THE GAME instead of starting a fuckton of threads about their visions and what they want to see the game turned in to.
