Ignore the ping that dayz commander reports. Its frequently very very wrong. Use the in game ping as your reference.

Line of sight is very important too. If you run away around a corner the zombie will go to where it last saw you and look again. If you can be out of sight from this point, congratulations you've lost your zombie.

Balota buddies have non-whitelisted servers in the UK, US and AU too.

But it is def worthwhile getting yourself whitelisted regardless ;) @barret_kills The AIs will be quite happily shooting at any zombies that come within their visual range.

I've staked out a 600m diameter of death with my mk17 SD.

I strongly advise all of you to get JSRS. It has to be heard to be believed. Hearing gunfire from 1000s of metres instead of 100s is ideal for avoiding trouble or finding trouble. Depending on your preference!

All of these things mean you're in the wrong server.

Every camp I've ever had has been raided. I still try. West more than north these days.

Do you play on a private hive? Most of the guys on my hive (hi steak!) post videos on YouTube. As well as being quite entertaining, I get quite a good idea of what vehicles have been recently destroyed and what spawns I should be checking. I don't roll with a bag full of spares simply cos they take up so much room. When I find a vehicle I'll just head to the nearest cluster of industrial and grab what I need.

This is where I play. There's so much going on here, why would you go anywhere else? The two biggest game changers are JSRS and the increased view distance. JSRS massively improves the vanilla sounds. You can hear gunfire from kilometres away. Suddenly the map doesn't feel so big and empty! Plus with the view distance going out to 2000m (weather dependent) there's no more running away into the fog. You have to earn the right to keep your life! Of course you have the normal benefits of a whitelisted private hive. No hackers, no ghosters, no server hopping loot farmers. Combat logging is policed firmly. Custom antihack is in place and works well. There's more but I'll let others fill in so in don't come across like a fanboy!
