New to game - looking for a few friends

I play on a white listed private hive. Uk 46 run by balota buddies. There's a nice little community building up there, and a lot of the players are active on these forums. You don't mention what time zone you are in but there is an Australian and American contingent as well as UK/EU. -

Def sounds like a server bug then. Then only other thing I can think if is that if you log out real quick after getting some items the server hasn't had time to register your items and put them in the database. I can't remember off the top of my head what the interval is for your char being saved.

It does pretty much the same stuff as six: keeping mod up to date, installing other maps, server browser etc. I just find it quicker and the layout more intuitive. The server browser is excellent for keeping a favourites list, keeping track of your recent servers and for seeing where your friends are playing. I sound like an advertisement but I'm really just a happy user :)

Nah your logging out fine. You were prob playing on a private hive and you have logged back into a different server. How are you browsing for servers?

Dayz Commander has an install/update tab. It shows you the current version of the arma2 beta patch and dayz client you're running with an option to update or rollback. It also has a list of the custom maps etc that are available and can also be 1 click installed. Dayz commander makes everything 1 click and puts all the relavent files in the right places.

The beta is a rolling update. Install dayz commander and it will help keep you up to date.

arma 2 bad serial number given in setup?

Yeah delete the registry entries for arma, then do the verify cache with steam. Did the trick for me. I didn't have to uninstall/reinstall the game. -

I'm all for burying. If I kill some bandit douche and I don't have room or need for his gear, why should I leave it there for him to come get and make it easier for him to take a second pop at me? Fuck that noise. I love that he can hear the flies and not find his stuff. -

There are public hive (official) and private hive (unofficial). The private have a cloud symbol with a cross through it. You can filter to only see public or private.

are we getting confused between peripheral dots and the recruit server dots that appear over any mob in your fov?

If you have arma 2 and OA installed, days commander can do the rest. Click on the install/update tab and you can install the latest arma 2 beta patch and dayz client then just pick a server and off you go.

Wherever I spawn I never go more than 5 deer stands without finding an assault rifle of some kind. That's usually more than enough for me to survive the usual standard of bandit I come across :-) -
