Seems there is a hack out there that allows players to broadcast over the comms regardless of distance from individuals... :( Had someone come over comms even though I was out in the middle of nowhere and say "I see you..." Was no one around for miles... :(

There seems to have been a huge gfx performance drop with the latest updates. The one before .55 had it as well, but the one before that was smooth as butter. Definitely has something to do with texture handling as I've never had texture pop in on me. But, with .55, I get zombies that have LOD issues, fences that show up without textures (grey/white walls), and just general low fps in towns. I only run a 680 SC and I've had no major issues until the patch before .55 and .55 itself.

I thought that if a server was public, admins weren't supposed to kick people off for no reason? I had 3 friends with me on the ~SOG~ |Bringing Friendly Back| server on the 3/27/2015 16 10:40 CST and they kicked all of us to leave only Arrrow ~SOG~ and Yama ~SOG~ on the server. This is the server: http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/45.58.113.34:2302/ We did nothing wrong. We had a truck and were driving to meet up with 2 of our friends that were separated and right as we met up, they kicked us all of. When we rejoined they kicked us again? "Bringing Friendly Back"... Not so much.

~SOG~ kicking people off their public hive server?
sniperdoc replied to sniperdoc's topic in General Discussion
Actually, they must've rebooted the server. We had a truck that was at half gasoline. When we were able to log back onto it, the two SOG guys were gone and the truck was full of gas. Same location we left it after we got kicked. -
~SOG~ kicking people off their public hive server?
sniperdoc replied to sniperdoc's topic in General Discussion
I thought so myself... it should be a private hive if they want to have their own pow-wows... -
I don't think it's related to joining max pop servers... it could be... but I've seen servers hanging/freezing like that on low pop as well. I was on a server last night with 8/30 and ended up getting stuck in a truck because the server crashed without any indicator it had done so (i.e. no message received for n seconds). I'm guessing there's a memory leak somewhere as it causes the client to crash as well. I think the client and server crashes are related.

Actually, it's better when its wet, because it doesn't get snagged on every little twig... plus it depends on if it's a full ghillie, a patrol ghillie (i.e. how long it is). Is it heavier... sure. But, who looks at realism in this game when you dehydrate in a half an hour....

Gotcha. Yeah, when I first got assigned to STA 3/5, the H&S Co commander asked what I wanted to do at 3/5 and I told him this was my first time with a grunt unit and wasn't sure. He first offered me Lima Co (boat crews) but they had a full complement. Then Kilo (helos) and I asked if there was anything else. He then told me STA had an opening for a corpsman coming up, but I had no clue what that was. He clarified that it was Scout Sniper Platoon and I immediately volunteered for it. Never did I spend my time with a more awesome group than those guys. Small group, worked well with all the companies and other outfits and all of them were an extremely humble bunch of guys... you would never be able to tell that any of those guys were a cut above the rest. Lots of competition between all of us in STA though... on a more fun level though... not like politics wise... ;) All of that was in 1994... ;) Yeah... I'm old. xD

Yeah... :) You? I guess STA has been deprecated? I hope they still have Scout Sniper Platoons...?!? It'd be a shame for them to be integrated into the companies now.

Rolling Update Rev - 0.43.116251
sniperdoc replied to Hicks_206 (DayZ)'s topic in News & Announcements
Well lets put it this way... after that patch version was applied, friends and I have put in LOADS of hours and after some time we noticed an immediate change. So, something WAS applied... whether version number changed or not... that's up to the devs to do. I have a LOT of time into DayZ SA and I can definitely tell stuff is off... -
Rolling Update Rev - 0.43.116251

A little disappointed that small updates are being done to stable but no word from any developers. No recent word at all when the next update is possibly going to happen OR what is being silently added to stable. Stuff has changed for sure, because my toon is thirsting and getting hungry much faster now... very unrealistic imo... -
You can also stop dying from bad food by inducing vomiting. Just make sure you at least have food to stop from starving after the vomiting (I assume you'll be near a well so you'll have plenty of hydration).

Because that wasn't a reddit post. That was a forum post... that's what a forum is for. Thanks for posting here Bautschi... -
The LRS actually has an accuracy change, and afaik had it for a while, when damaged. iirc the more damaged the LRS the more the rifle pulls to the left. Personally any scope, when worn shouldn't have too much of any issue... but once damaged and badly damaged should definitely some issues. Badly damaged should be nigh unusable other than to sight in with. There should be some indicator visually that something is off... i.e. maybe a bad refraction off the lens for the LRS or something... cracked lens? In some cases a damaged scope should be able to be fixed when worn to get it back to pristine... however I think damaged and badly damaged it should be out of reach for people to fix. There's a lot that goes into scopes that the average layperson would NEVER be able to fix without the proper tools. Weapon cleaning kits should also get weapons back into pristine... not take a pristine weapon into worn... that's just ludicrous. Damaged and Badly Damaged weapons should also be extremely difficult to repair. Maybe a damaged scope would require multiple uses from a pristine weapon kit (which gets used up entirely on a damaged weapon), but a badly damaged weapon is pretty much non-recoverable... i.e. completely rusted, bent/cracked barrel etc...

Yeah OP is totally off the mark. Food does replenish and there's 2 stages of regaining blood. Low which is when Energized and Hydrated are just green and High which is when Energized and Hydrated are both like a brighter green. It's easy to regain blood... if you aren't regaining blood, then you are doing it wrong. :)

Duping, Server Hopping, and Exploiting- The Mild Cases and the Bad Cases
sniperdoc replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
I agree... this is one of the few games, where running from Balota to the military bases, to the NWAF and then the NEAF to Berezino isn't that bad an experience. I actually enjoy the detail of the game's environment. I'm lucky enough to be able to max it out and truly take in the virtual nature. Does it suck that it takes almost 2 - 3 hours to do? Yeah, but that's the realism of the game kicking in. I had a friend play for a couple of hours and he fell asleep running to one of the airfields... it's rather hilarious... but cool nonetheless. I really hope that the developers think about how to fix the buildings so they can't be exploited like this. I would say an invisible barrier in all the walls (accounting for doorways, stairwells, and windows of course) that stops bullets. While not very realistic, considering 5.56 can go through concrete blocks, it'd cut down on the exploiting of looking through walls. What is kind of aggravating about the development process, is that I find it hard to believe that implementing new stuff wouldn't in some way impact the "fixing process" adversely. Wouldn't it make more sense to first figure out how the mechanics work by implementing a FEW buildings, that work exactly as they should, no exploits and all that, and then apply the same creation procedure to the rest of the buildings that are being modeled and then deploy them all? Instead, it seems that they have 30 different buildings and structures, yet each one has its own nuances, exploits and what not that they'll have to figure out in the end. Where if they'd have figured out a correct process right at the beginning, the end work wouldn't be so bad...? But, what do I know about game development... ;) xD -
Duping, Server Hopping, and Exploiting- The Mild Cases and the Bad Cases
sniperdoc replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
I don't know how that was relevant... my point is just because there's a glitch, people shouldn't exploit the glitch for their own gain. That is a breakdown in ethics. Just got killed last night by someone that used the wall peeking glitch to shoot through the walls. Pathetic honestly... :( -
I just experienced this yesterday on a hardcore server public server. A little aggravated that it's that easy to do. This was my situation: In Elektro, I was in the 3-story building to the west-side of the school (the 3 story between murder hill and the school). After some time, I heard some guy talking in the southern room on the 2nd floor about how he's glitching through the wall and able to see me on the north end of the room of the 3rd story. He kept talking about how he was going to just kill me so that some other guy that was with him would be able to take my stuff. So, I adjusted my position to the north end of the 3rd story room so that I could have a better angle on the stairs. Well as soon as I got to my position, I heard gunfire from below and behind me and I was immediately dead. Just another thing for the devs to handle... really depressing that people can't play fairly... :( Good thing my team took the two of them out from the school... :) I hate cheaters... f*cking glitching pieces of sh*t. This really should be an easy fix. All buildings are set models. Adjust one building type and it should adjust all of them. Take all the buildings, and in all the building's walls and floor put an invisible barrier that's not passable for bullets. Yes, it'll take some time to address all buildings, but its not like you're redoing "ALL buildings on the map"... you're just redoing the one of each of the buildings that are available on the map...

Duping, Server Hopping, and Exploiting- The Mild Cases and the Bad Cases

Actually, you SHOULD put in an AV Scan exemption for a game's directory in your computer's directory structure. This is why I change the default game install folder to another drive entirely. Easier for me to do exclusions. Not all programs need to be excluded from AV scans, so the Program Files directories should really continue to be scanned... but games? Not really necessary. Plus if there's a lot of scripting, then the game can be severely hampered by AV scans. -

And this is where ethics breaks down... if people continue to use the glitch. -

???? I see the scope??? I don't doubt it... but the vault code was changed for sure and it works differently now. If you're too close to stuff, you can't vault it if running. -
