Edit: Changed my response as I perceived the above comment as a response to the individual telling him he was wrong... but it could be read another way... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7.62%C3%9751mm_NATO There are actually LOADS of NATO designated rounds. Just FYI, the reason they're called Nato Standard is because a host of nations that joined Nato wanted to have universal rounds to use with each others weaponry. Actually way more information than I care to know is in this document here: http://www.dtic.mil/ndia/2008Intl/Arvidsson.pdf -

I'm sorry... but that deserves a "F*CK YEAH!!!!" No... that would imply that people actually read... and we all know from previous experience with certain people on this forum, that they do NOT read. Whether this be due to laziness, ignorance, or stupidity is up to the observer to determine. -

No... I originally said Europe, because your grammar is off. I am assuming Germany because of the server location. But you could be from any place around Europe, aside from the UK... I could give 2 sh*ts where you're from really... because you're just an entitled little brat that THINKS she knows something about game development. Stop complaining about shit that's literally irrelevant at this point or stop playing the game. Simple. -

Once again... someone ^^^ that's not spent an iota reading anything on this forum. He has now reduced Germany's IQ by 1000. Man... some people just don't get it. -

My guess is you're from Europe someplace, maybe even Germany (which you're not doing MY country proud at the moment btw)... but let me explain, in laymans terms, to you what the gist of the message, before you get to play the game, means: "The game is currently in a state that's less than optimal and may even at times be unplayable, so by clicking the below button, you accept and understand that and are willing to play the game in it's current, and often less than acceptable state." So... common sense, something most people have, unless they have a learning disability or are disabled in some mental/psychological fashion, will tell you that the things you are experiencing while playing the game: glitchy zombiesglitchy buildingglitchy pathingglitchy anythingis normal and to be expected. Hell... just two days ago I had just gotten completely re-outfitted with everything. Nice fully decked out Mosin, fully decked out M4, pristine clothes and backpack. Protective Case, Ammo case, Medikit, etc... Spent a good 5 hours on that. Went on top of the NEAF con tower (was an empty server), found a Badly Damaged Battery and plugged it into my Weapon Flashlight. The game sat there for a bit and then went to a "You are dead" screen. But you know what... despite all that wasted effort... I knew and UNDERSTOOD, this game is not yet complete. It is pre-Beta... something called an Alpha... something that SHOULD in essence be unplayable actually and the term Alpha is being used completely WRONG by developers these days. Alpha = unfit for public consumption. Beta = buggy and playable, fit for public use. But, I digress... What should also be understood, is that you probably don't work on the DayZ development team. As such, you're probably not privileged to know what their development pipeline is like, what their objectives for completion are, and WHEN they intend to work on things. So, any type of complaining about things... is really: irrelevantunnecessarya waste of effortmoneyenergyI hope the bullet points help... I'm really getting tired of people that think they're entitled to anything having to do with DayZ. Anything except a completed game at SOME POINT, in the future. -

Try that next time you go to court. Currently there's two sides to this issue... One side of the courts that say "click-wrap" contracts ARE enforceable and the other saying it is NOT. Enjoy spending that money trying to find out which side YOUR judge is on. :) -

Uhhh... where does it say that? As a matter of fact, by clicking the whole "I understand" when you start the game pretty much waives your rights right off the bat... Also, for those that haven't read a Steam Subscriber Agreement (SSA), you have ZERO rights... thanks to all of those that just downright didn't give a sh*t about what a EULA or SSA actually said and just click "I agree" regardless of the fact that Valve just took all your rights from you. :) So... TL;DR: You have no rights. -

I would just prefer that the devs actually communicate a bit more on their official forums. My guess is, that the performance of these forums is so slow, that it's more of a hassle to use, so they revert to twitter... which quite honestly... twitter sucks arse. I'd like official communication on the official forums... it's the right and proper way. -

Yeah... The night as it is currently in this game is absolutely not realistic. DayZ SA makes it seem like you're completely blind at night, which is complete bogus. Even if the moon isn't out, you can still navigate. As a matter of fact, the longer and farther away you are from light sources, the better your night vision gets. If you're removed from any light sources for a long time, then just a little bit of moonlight can actually make it seem like the area around you is glowing. Since the game does use adaptive lighting (to simulate biological night vision), maybe they could make it that if a light source gets shined in your eyes, you do go night blind for a few secs/mins? They could make it so it really is pitch black for a few mins, but after 10 - 20 minutes without light, a person should be good to go on a moonless night. -

As was mentioned IN THIS THREAD... they're talking about the hockey face masks that look like they're from the game Payday. -
I don't know if this has been addressed yet, but I believe it should looked at in detail as there is some conflicting data. TL;DR: Items in DayZ really have slot sizes that contradict what we can do in real life. A soft hat currently takes up two slots while comparatively a 10-round magazine takes up one slot. Military packs designed specifically to carry 30-rd magazines in special pockets, require 2 slots for those mags? Shirts and pants that can be rolled up no bigger than a beanie take up 4 slots? It needs re-evaluation. Detailed explanation: Just for some background, I was a Navy FMF Corpsman with the U.S. Marines for 4 1/2 years and I've done my share of humping a pack and then some. Generally FMF Corpsman have to carry the standard gear that Marines have to pack, but on top of that, they also have to pack their medic bag, which in my day, was a Unit 5, which is its OWN backpack. I was attached with 3/5 STA platoon, and we had our own packs called Mountain Rucks (not like the mountain rucks in DayZ, it looked more like the Hunters Backpack) that carried 3 times what the standard Marine's Alice Pack could carry. So, not only was my standard pack bigger and heavier than a Marines, but on top of this I placed my Unit 5, which was about as big as an Alice Pack. So... getting to the nitty gritty... Why are magazines 2 inventory slots? All the magazines should take up 1 slot, even the dualies, unless we're talking a box magazine for an LMG. Why are some soft covers such as the beanies or radar cap taking up two slots, when other more solid hats take up 1? Why are pants and shirts taking up 4 slots, when I can roll up pants or shirts to take up the same amount of space as a black beanie. At most they should take up 2 slots. Hard covers SHOULD take up 4 slots, same with the ammo cans, med kits, defibrillator and protective cases. I totally agree with this. Same goes for the cowboy hats and shoes/boots. Vests, such as the ballistic vests or combat vests probably should take up 4 to 6 slots, considering that some have ballistic plate inserts or they may be thicker and can't be folded. Pistols should probably only take up 2 to 3 slots. Leaning more towards the 3 slots. I think it would make for interesting inventory management if an item took up 3 slots (like a square 4 slot item, except one corner slot is missing). Gas masks generally should probably take up 4 slots, however, most gas masks come in a carrier that you carry outside of your pack, on your legs. So, maybe an additional carrier that can be added to hold the gas mask. Also, something that should be addressed is the ability to carry two rifles. It wasn't uncommon for our Marine weapons company guys to carry a mortar tube, plate, or stand on top of their pack, or a MG and its tripod on top of a pack, while carrying their personal rifle slung on their shoulder or in front of them. So, two rifles, certainly doable. Should there be a balancing so someone's not walking around with an arsenal... sure. Get rid of the ability to carry a fireman's axe AND two rifles. Would and SHOULD weight become a factor when running... absolutely! Now as far as clothing is concerned, I understand that in some instances it would be difficult for the artist to fit a proper image into an item slot. But I think the argument in this case is a poor one. We're sacrificing reality because of an artist's constraints to portray an item nicely? For example, fitting the image of a shirt onto 2 slots, could be horizontal 2 slots and show a folded shirt. I think we can do better than the current slot arrangements and it shouldn't be too hard to implement... and hell... you give your 2d artist some work. :)

Actually it shouldn't slow you down too much more. I guess it would depend on the weapon type. While on humps with the Marines, the Heavy Weapons Company would have to carry their MG's, Mortars and whatever else, on top of their personal weapon. Mortars and MG's would be broken up between the fireteam, e.g. One guy would carry the mortar tube, another would carry the mortar's ground plate, the other would carry the stand, etc... All they did was strap it on top of their pack. So... In this case... the same could be done for a 2nd rifle. The outside of a pack could potentially hold 4 or 5 extra large items, i.e. On top, On the bottom, the left, right and backside. :) I've yet to see them make changes to clothing to the point of it taking up only 1 or two slots. It seems to me, that despite Dean having been in the miltary, he's never been on a hump (hike) before and therefore doesn't really understand or know how military guys pack their gear. No shirt or pants would take up 4 slots. And why are boots only 1 slot, when really, THEY should be ones taking up 2 or more. How are soft beanies 2 slots, when other hats take up 1? 30-round mags take up 2 slots?? Some serious reworking of inventory slots needs to be looked at. -

It is clear a majority of people have no idea of what goes on in a development pipeline and what the term Alpha means. So much is evident in that post and many other posts talking about DayZ "needs this", "must do this" and "<insert expectation here>". While I agree that RV3(4) is terrible usability wise and interface wise, it's a rather phenomenal engine. I don't see any engines other than maybe Skyrim's doing what DayZ does, and even then, Skyrim doesn't even come close. All I see is a lot of "hootin' and a hollerin'" about things people have no knowledge of. No one here is a mind reader and no one here is a psychic that can predict the future... period. Some of the reactions on here are like a 13 year old that had someone piss in his cereal. The game is in alpha, Dean's going to stay on as an advisor. That's all that we know. We can speculate, and we can try to guess... but that's all it is. Until we get more concrete information, that's the matter at hand. -

hehehe, I was in the US Navy and I was an FMF Corpsman attached to mainside EOD on Camp Pendleton for 6 months, then to 3/5 STA Platoon for 3 1/2 years and 5th Regimental Recon for 6 months. That being said... I once was made to buy cases of beer for our entire EOD unit because one of the handheld radios had a broken antenna tip. They said it was my fault... so I was made to buy the beer. The same went for anyone doing something illegal, such as handling several 40mm's in one hand or holding it in a hand that was gloved. SOP was 1 per ungloved hand. That is something that could cost someone a life or a limb. Hence making people buy something that was rather expensive, made them adhere to the rules and made them pay attention to detail... Besides that, I actually saved my money and didn't spend it at the local E-club's Westpac widows... ;) -

Just because I used sarcasm it doesn't make the post any less valid btw. And please don't try to do this "elitist" attitude bs... I'd expect better from a mature individual. "May choose to answer"... pfff. You asked... I answered. Point being, you wouldn't have to deal with any of this if the words during the interview were better chosen. In this case, it was just bad. Period. Any point of arguing against is just silly. -

Oooooh I see... you WANTED to have the extra work of having to deal with the extra load on the servers (which don't work worth a dang to begin with). You WANTED to have to ban people and link duplicate threads... I get it now... this was all about giving you some work because you were twiddling your thumbs the whole time! </end sarcasm> As an IT person it pissed me off to no end when people do dumb sh*t and give me work that shouldn't need to be done. Being a little bit smarter can prevent you from having to react to someone else's incompetence. So, I'm totally floored that you're ok with all this mess. In the military, if someone on my team caused a problem, the person responsible would have to buy beer for the entire platoon, or company for that matter... because whatever it was could have killed someone. It could mean that person was not a team player... now to be clear, because reading comprehension seems to be really low today (not implying you, in general I mean)... I don't mean that Dean's comments were life threatening... but it means he didn't think about the impact his statements would cause. And that... my friend... is NOT a team player, and probably why it's not a bad idea he's leaving... -

What? There is something surprising about it? To say there is, is to be ignorant of understanding how an internet based community behaves. Honestly, makes me wonder how someone could be a moderator and not be pissed about what Dean started......??? Dean's move was either purely strategic or just not thought out at all. I'd like to think the former, but I don't know him personally and don't pretend to. Either way, he started a sh*tstorm of ????'s. -

I can totally understand the panic. People like to think they can read minds, understand people's motivation and know exactly what is going on behind closed doors. That's why it was a dumba** move to announce that he's leaving. Anyone remotely interested in actually investing $30 bucks in DayZ might read a crapload about "why Dean is leaving" and decide it isn't worth the risk of buying. So, hence BIS lost a sale. Multiply that by a 100 or a 1000, then you have yourself a PR/Marketing nightmare... again it really befuddles the mind why this was publicized. -
