  1. Imagine that... guy trying to get full swings in enclosed spaces and he's having problems... hmmmmmm... doesn't take much of a brain to figure out there's going to be problems... lol
  2. Uuuh... read your above statement first buddy... that is called an expectation and your question read very much like you're coming from a place of entitlement and was NOT polite at all. If YOU spent the time to actually read the forum, instead of just popping on here with expectations you'd have found out that they're still squashing 2 major bugs and that it wasn't until recently that they found the "blocking" bug. So, your expectations are not the devs, nor any of our responsibilities to take care of. So, Straw's comments were well within reason and I don't think he was being snarky at all, imo. I agree with you wholeheartedly that DayZ staff are neglecting to update the forum as much as they are on Twitter and Reddit. I don't do either of the two latter options and to me it is very unprofessional that they are not updating their own official forum with the most recent information. :( One of the issues is that they do not have a daily FORUM update thread to let us know what it is that is causing the hangup. People do have expectations, and I can understand that... so their failure to update the forum with the latest updates, and relying on other users to link in information on a 90 page thread... yeah... that's a BAAAD idea and really they're creating as much of a problem as we are. Single forum area, for devs and mods only to respond to, readable by all, sticky threads, give us daily info if necessary to let us know what is going on and why there's a hangup. They're doing it on twitter having to respond to so many arsehat questions, so why not in a dedicated patch update thread where they wouldn't even have to deal with responding to people. Just pop in a who/what/when/where/why and you're done. People read it and can see it without having to dig through 90 pages of nonsense.
  3. Sing Kou-Bah-Yah...? For sure, not a good place to hang out with all the negativity being thrown at them, a lot of it unnecessary too... HOWEVER, it is their official forum and some people don't do reddit or twitter (such as me). One would also figure that the most recent and most valid information would be located here, on their "official" forums. A place where they can write up an update, sticky it, and LOCK IT, so that it doesn't get buried. Personally, I didn't know Dean's first and last name, nor Brians... nor should I have to worry about it. I understand they are the brains behind the operation and I understand that some people feel the need to have a "personalized touch"... but I'm sorry, it's a job. (I'm trying to make a point, bear with me) I don't really care who built my car, or my TV. If it is for entertainment, and the game/movie/book is fun and enjoyable enough, I"ll check out the creds to see who made it and will look forward to future work by said individuals. So, for me, these twitter and reddit updates have no value to me. I don't care who they are conversing with and are throwing snarky comments at... it is... a job. This is a business. They make games and I buy them. So, in that sense, I guess I expect actual development notes and updates on the forum, not just links thrown up by other users/players of DayZ. See what I'm getting at? (not mean snarky or in a mean way, just asking if I was clear) There's a point when someone is being professional and a point where they are not. And they're going borderline non-professional. I work as an IT Director for an environmental consulting firm... so for me, I don't care to have to check 3 different sites (two of which I find annoying - twitter and reddit) for some official information from the developers. For me, the fact that their own OFFICIAL site has the least recent information... a little of a let-down and really shows how un-professional they are. You are so dead on... I think game development has suffered. It's all about the bling nowadays, little to no story or character development or you get indy knockoff's off of games that were highly successful. It's a travesty honestly and shows that a lot of creativity has gone down the dump in the bigger publishing houses. There are a few indy titles out there that have done a great job. But lately its big companies riding coat tails of previous products, or companies sucking the life-blood out of franchises. EA at one point was really doing a good job with new creative content... Mirror's Edge... Deadspace... Mass Effect... But even those games are getting the life-blood sucked out of them and Deadspace 3 and Mass Effect 3 are a great example of a good title gone bad. Then EA went down the route of doing browser based gaming and killing off top notch titles like Ultima. So, creativity has really taken a step to the side, at least with big publishers. I really tired of BIoshock Infinite, Dishonored was a Bioshock/Thief clone and really drug on... hell a lot of the bigger titles like that... I got bored. It seemed like it was the same content, just prettier and wrapped up in a different wrapping. Metro 2033... re-wrapped S.T.A.L.K.E.R. I mean the list goes on and on... There are definitely some indies out there doing a great job. The guy that created FEZ, great idea for a game. Rimworld, another great idea and upcoming title. Then there's Brothers, Bastion, and few others that really are masterpieces in creativity. FTL... Minecraft (even though this whole beta for life thing is getting to me)... Terraria, Gunpoint, Braid, even a game like Audiosurf... Amnesia: The Dark Descent!!! Excellent game... Antichamber... DayZ is the one game that I feel brought something different. It's not single player, but then that's the whole fun of it. The competition with other players... the adrenaline rush because you don't want to lose your decked out M4 or Mosin... or in the future, your helicopter... :) So, DayZ has been one of my mainstays for sure late.
  4. It's definitely the only game I've played (aside from EVE) that gives me an adrenaline rush... xD
  5. In some ways, as much as I despise Creative Assembly for being arsehats, they do it right on their forums using a CM. However, Moderators deleting, hiding, and deliberately burying negative posts by upset community members... not so much. That's just poor ethics on their part, which seems to be par for the course for them since the move to Sega. Gist... CM's can definitely be a good thing if used properly. That way you don't get PR nightmares like Dean's announcement that he was "going to spend everyone's dollar on Mt Everest, travel the world, leave DayZ in the dust and go back to his family in NZ" and that the reason for it, that DayZ "is broken." ;)
  6. There's no SUPPOSED TO... they said that they would TRY to release patches with every maintenance period. They didn't promise or set deadlines. This game is in alpha format and as such patches get released with "best effort" in mind. It makes no sense to release a patch when material is clearly not ready. Hence why EXP hasn't been updated with a new patch that fixes some critical bugs. Unless an update is made to experimental servers, and that update appears stable, there WILL BE NO PATCH ON PUBLIC SERVERS. Not really "rocket"-science... (couldn't resist)
  7. I think that pretty much sums up my only complaint. Too much twittering and almost no forum updates to speak of. That's a little annoying.
  8. The only one who thinks it should be embarrassing is you... the dates and projected release times are just that... they're projections. Not deadlines. Keep coming from a place of ignorance and not knowing and you keep posting nonsense... wtf?
  9. Maybe someone handcuffed him right after the logoff?
  10. Means you're probably handcuffed.
  11. I'm sorry... what's an acceptable date for deploying alpha patches... for things that may take ??? amount of manhours to track down? Just curious... I think it is generally accepted that any patches and any bug fixing are released on soft dates. That we can "anticipate" updates during scheduled maintenance. WTF is so hard to understand about an alpha??? Jesus man...
  12. Dude, the only ones thinking the content is under par are those that think they have any type of entitlement to anything of any sort. The devs don't fear jack squat and honestly probably don't give a squat about your opinions either. Basically, you're coming from a position of not knowing jack sh*t, but commenting like you do. "Expectations are down-payments on resentment." Great words to live by. :) Of course he doesn't he rather just bitch and complain like he's in the know...
  13. Because we're not privy to their development pipeline. That's why. Nor should we be, considering how entitled some folks on here are thinking because they paid some money they can make demands and be asshol*s to the developers... how's that?
  14. No... read the thread. Better yet... use the search function!!!
  15. Love how you're blowing it out of proportion... I'm sure Hicks is tired as F************K about: When's the patch out? When's the patch out? When's the patch out? When's the patch out? When's the patch out? When's the patch out? When's the patch out? When's the patch out? When's the patch out? When's the patch out?So now, they're just using all the entitled idiots out there as inter-office comic relief... I'm totally cool with that. People totally feed into it and I'm sure the team is laughin' it up having some beers. :) Hell... I'll kickstarter the case of beer FOR them!!! xD
  16. Look at it this way guys... unless they push out a new update to Experimental, you KNOW you're not getting an update to stable... They need to make sure it is, let me get this right here... "STABLE" before they can put it on the public servers. Just a hunch here... I may be wrong!!! But then again... but in reference to that picturethe handprint on the cheekthe limp wrist of the guy slapping the dude and spread of the fingersand the ever so slight lean forward by the slapperand the expressions on both faces...the hat flying out of his handsthe complete surprise with which the slappee was caught...PERFECT10/10f*ck that 15/10
  17. We need more responses like Accolyte's...!!!! KERSLAP!!!!

    Hotfix changelog: Stable Branch: 0.35.115188

Yes... but his numbers are way off... No one visits the air fields in all honesty. How do I know this? Because I observe them a lot. E.g. In a two hour time frame on a medium pop server I had zero visitors on several occasions. Why only 2 hours... cause it gets boring as shit to just stare at a conn tower or hangar for that long. xD
  19. Doesn't sound too huge to me. Especially if you yourself don't seem to be having the issue. Not saying it isn't an issue... but probably 90% of people that paid for DayZ Standalone aren't posting bugs... and the ones that are, probably know wtf they're doing on a computer. xD
  20. I think it's the feedback thread that said "DayZ is broken"...
  21. Seit wann hast Du dass bemerkt? xD
  22. Yep... too bad no one has decided to sue the shit out of them... That game is just beyond f'd up and people accept it. That's the messed up part. No wonder publishers don't care... it's because WE don't care. I also say WE because no matter how much I may not like what they're doing to US, unless everyone else is onboard with not accepting shit for a validly signed, money exchanged, contract, nothing will change. And that folks, is OUR fault. EDIT: Not off my soap box yet... Sega/Creative Assembly is a touchy subject with me :( ... The real issue with this is, that all a publisher needs to do, is compensate the buyer... whether that's give them a refund (for a measly $60), a credit, or coupon code to prevent any sort of lawsuit. So, as long as that gamer's been shut up... they can continue to sell us CRAP. It's a business practice that needs to be stopped... PERIOD. How is this relevant to BIS or Dean? It is extremely relevant, depending on the game's release. What this means to US, is that we need to stop giving BIS, the DayZ team, or Dean a hard time when stuff doesn't work. The game is in ALPHA, which theoretically shouldn't even be for public consumption of any sort. Everyone that bought the game accepted that it will run like ASS basically. If you complain like an entitled little biotch, then stop playing and come back when the game has been released for the general use public. How does this relate to Sega/CA? Well, let's just say it's a nudge to the DayZ developers to not follow suit like they did with Arma 3. Shoddy release that it was. Test this game, don't let downers that bitch about how slow things are going get you down, and DO IT PROPERLY. Let those that are actually testing the game give you feedback, listen if you like, implement what you can, don't implement what you can't because you know you are limited by this clunky engine. DO IT RIGHT BIS/DEAN! And don't over-extend yourselves. From what I'm seeing in the dev tracker and videos, it looks like they want to implement all this crazy stuff (which would definitely be cool to have) but my gut says that the engine DayZ Standalone runs on is EXTREMELY limited bandwidth wise. So... stay on track and stay with what you know works.
  23. That's one of the smartest things someone has said in a while. You may have my beans any time Sir. Must be because your Swedish. :)
