    Stories of the survivors

I woke up in a leaky shack in Zelenogorsk, unsure of my surroundings and unaware of what might have transpired during my comma-like slumber. Remembering that our rally point was Berezino, the last place the radio had said ships were evacuating from, I decided to gather what I could from the local market, ransacked though it may be. Little did I know just how perilous my trek to Berezino would be... indeed it was nearly catastrophic. I began my journey as cautious as could be; sticking to the brush and scrub, slinking through the forest and the rain to conceal my movements, skirting the southern edge of the Pulkovo clearing. No news is good news in these parts. After a pit-stop at Vyshnoye to acquire much needed water I figured I could spare the time to find a stray bit of food to hold me over until I reached the market in Polana... With the sound of thunder I suddenly found myself on the receiving end of an oft-forgotten quantity of 5.56. Striking me like a broadside from the HMS Dreadnought. Bleary-eyed and delirious I tumbled into the woods in the hopes that I could lose my attackers in the brush or dispatch them from concealment. What transpired next will forever change my outlook on the word "luck". After sprinting for ~10 seconds I dove under a coniferous tree next to a bush, hoping that I would blend in with the surrounding scrub... A voice called out to me, "Hey! If you come out, we'll heal you. All we want is some tuna or something. We saw you..." At this point I decided that "we" is a plural word and I had no chance in a fire fight. I went full-ostrich and put my head to the ground, in the hopes that they had not seen my hasty retreat and instead push past me to see if I had ducked further in to the darkened forest. Suddenly a snap above my head followed by the report of gunfire. Shit... But to my ears the round had landed in front of me? How could that be? My pursuers were before me... so... that round came from in behind me!? I turned my attention deeper into the woods I assumed would be my grave. From over the crest of the slope in front of me three survivors clad in moto-helmets and hoodies paced forward with malicious intent... BAM! Another one of the survivors of the Dayzocalypse shot a round above my head impacting a tree not 5 feet from my attackers. Time slowed, and the essence of the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral fell on that ground like the heaviest of fogs. Rounds traversed the space above me like a cloud of wasps zipping by, stingers at the ready. One of the survivors took shots to the thigh and went down, unsure if he was prone or in shock, I stayed my place in the hopes that my presence would slip from the memories of either party. It seemed to take forever... but in truth it was done in just over a minute. The Attackers beaten, either fleeing, dead, or somewhere in between, leaving 4 bodies to the vultures. The Survivors strode forth, healing their fallen comrade, taking the pickings of their enemies loot while I looked on wondering when they would turn to me... That moment never came... After they scraped together what they could they turned south to Mogilevka taking pot-shots at the last two belligerents from their vicious duel... I carried on to Polana, picking up the poorest of supplies, before heading to Gorka to scrounge for a med-kit. As night fell and the rain insisted on changing my pace of travel I saw the sights of Berezino, ripe for the picking, a place to settle down for a while and begin the search for my friends... The screams. The smell of gunpowder.
  2. Novy Sobor is right next to Stary, and it's also a good place to find Heli-crashes. The Factory near the east coast, I'm thinking about the one between Orlovets and Polana, is also a high-traffic area because of the Heli-crash spawns and vehicle parts + fuel.
  3. I remember seeing something about horses, and I also recall a fellow that wanted to create a farming village... Anyway here it goes, forgive me if it's already been mentioned: Vegetation. Apples Pears Nuts Tubors Olives Dates Grapes Berries Poisonous berries Poison Ivy for all the tree-huggers Moss + mud = dirty/camo'd clothing Change a ghillie suit to fit your surroundings Feed your horse some hay EDIT: I'm not privy to what grows in the NE Mediterranean/ Black Sea/ Caspian Sea (Lake) region, but I'm sure some of those bullet points are accurate.

    Rag tag Musty Vigilantes

I wish I could have witnessed that... If only my firefights were as intense and confusing

    Introduce yourselves

Raytheon here, Sam Childers in game (formerly Bill Murray or [bST] Raytheon). Killing zeds n banditos, surviving and thriving with a few buddies from IRL. I'm currently 21, college student, USMC reservist, USA servers. If I'm the only one online then I like to play with reckless abandon. If I'm with my group then I tend to stay cautious and alert, I would feel terrible if I got someone killed for being stupid lol

I just saw this on Imgur

That's very incorrect. This is WAY more correct:

Arma 2 lore... please just stop there. Arma 2 lore fell out the window the moment the mod was created, the only thing they have in common "story- wise" is the location that these two games take place, and once again: This MICROSOFT PAINT MAP is just someone using their imagination and putting it on the web.

I just saw this on Imgur

Like Fraggle said, I didn't make the map, I just found it on an imgur adventure. I've only played Chernarus so I wouldn't know the geographic layout anyway. For it to be feasible in the games current usage of fuel, the gap between Chernarus and "?????????" could be no wider than like 10 km, otherwise you'll spend 8 hours in a fishing boat ...

I just saw this on Imgur

So... I just saw this on imgur and I don't know if I should be angry at the idea of this picture, or if I should be awestruck at how long I would have to run to get anywhere
  12. Dayz = 91 I had a ghillie suit, DMR, PDW, GPS, NvG's, Tool box, all the important garbage that fills up your inventory slots and your 24-slot Backpack (Coyote). I was so excited to login to US 3378 and begin my search for a vehicle. Heading East from NWA I decided to hit up Devils Castle and check it out, besides it was a good halfway point to bunker down and figure out the best place to find a spawned vehicle. I get to the clearing outside of the castle and -------- server restart --------- Ok. Login again about 5 mins. later, and I see in the bottom right of the screen "Bill Murray died"... huh? I load in and hear waves but all I see is rolling planes of grass is_this_heaven .jpeg, disconnect, re-login, load up, Setup Complete.. Bottom right of the screen I see the letters scrolling across saying: Chernarus, Day 0 Chernogorsk splashing_waves.mp3 But I still have my ghillie suit??? Press "G", nothing, no backpack, no painkillers, no flashlight, no bandages and I'm wearing clothing that screams "Kill Me!". vehicle in the distance... sounds like... motorcycle? With nothing left to lose I jump into the street and yell "Are you heading my way stranger?" Stops. "Where are you heading?" "Devils castle" "Get on." Ten minutes of awkward silence pass after that initial burst of conversation, then he asks me why I didn't kill him and take the cycle, I explain my circumstances and promptly get laughed at. We pull up to the clearing outside of the castle, and I direct him to the opposite side of the main gate, when we are able to see the back side of the castle I am dumbfounded, and he is laughing his ass off. Right on top of where I had logged out when the server restarted... was a crashed helicopter. I can deal with making a mistake and getting ripped apart by the bullets of banditos, or pissing off a survivor, I wouldn't have been too greatly upset if I had been teleported to the coast by a hacker but, there it was, a helicopter "crashed" into my poor 91 day old character.
  13. I use http://db.dayzwiki.com/map/chernarus and http://dayzdb.com/map#2.059.081 together. The first one lets you specify what kind of loot and the number of spawns you're looking for, and the second one is more relative to the in-game map, and also provides altitudes.
  14. Raytheon (DayZ)

    What? How? Seriously? FML

People can disconnect wherever they want, I would call it bad practice to logout inside the barracks, or Air Control Tower, or Firehouse as sometimes the loot doesn't spawn when you spawn in, and because they are highly trafficked areas. Twice I have had a person spawn in front of me in a hangar and the Firehouse at NWA, and promptly murdered them for their insolence.
