Will single player support bandit AI?
roguetrooper replied to BuldozerX86's topic in General Discussion
With Arma 1-3 in mind, there are worlds between SP and MP scripting/modding. A thing that works flawlessly in SP doesn't need to work in MP (code-wise). -
So you can spend your water on drinking it afterwards or washing the meat in advance.

Indeed, there are some buildings that have been placed upon already existing items on the map (trees, rocks, walls). Recently I saw one of the new enterable guard houses with a wall right through it (when there were not enterable, this was no problem).

Suggestion in my signature (again)...

Error window (to be clicked away!) when firing Amphibia

When you fire the Amphibia pistol the first time in your current DayZ session, there is an error message that has to be clicked away (before you can do anything else!). -
Error window (to be clicked away!) when firing Amphibia

It's around almost everywhere. -
Beside the battery I haven't seen these common (?) things for quite a while: Magnum revolver Repeater .357 And I've never seen a Winchester 70 so far.

The main thing is: nobody sits in front of a screen (playing a video game) and watches a blank/black screen while doing nothing. In a single player game you can simulate sleep by turning the screen black for a few seconds and fast-forward the ingame time by some hours.

When there will be modding, there will be x different game versions out there and x+1 of them will be incompatible to each other (and to your client). Concerning a standard gameplay and server choice, it will be the same mess as with Arma 1-3. Modding then will not be done because it is good, advantageous or necessary, but only because it is possible. Then you can forget about opening the browser, clicking on a server with a good ping and you are ready to play. It will be a mess and a pain.

Some men hunt for sport Others hunt for food The only thing I'm hunting for Is an outfit that looks good Isn't this DayZ actually? :D

In Latin letters it is "Msta" :D

Special loot in airfield towers? So that admins can log out there, restart the server and grab that loot without any problems? All loot should be completely random. Especially the high value loot (whatever this may be).

Absolutely useless. The whole atmosphere and all that comes from the human players. One human around is more dangerous and thrilling than thousand zombies - no matter how frightening, deadly and "realistic" they are. Since I've played an online MMO the first time back in 2005 (EQ2 - the best of all times) I can't play offline/single player MMOs any more - because of the missing players (missing other consciousnesses) out there that world is dead and pointless. DayZ in SP mode may only be good for exploring the world without any dangers (AI is no real thread, even they may be more deadly than humans) and testing weapons and other equipment. People who just want to wander around in a zombie world, play other games. DayZ is all about other players. The zombies are just an excuse to display a world whose society has fallen apart so people can return to their animalic instincts and "are not punished for killing species members".

Why the heck have the ping and desync indicators been removed (in the player list) ?? While I see that it's (more or less) unnecessary to see other people's ping, I don't see any reason why you can't see your own ping/desync any more (as important as the indicatiors how far you are from starving or dehydration). Once again I vote for an OPTIONAL unobstrusive ping and desync display all the time on the screen (small numericals in a definable corner of the screen).

Ping and desync indicators removed?
roguetrooper replied to roguetrooper's topic in General Discussion
I (used to) check my ping and desync every time when I was about to change my equipment. For example when taking a new backpack where you have to store your stuff in the new or old backpack on the ground while dragging/clicking your stuff into the new one. Never did this with a desync greater than zero or with a high ping. -
Zombies should have different celerities (running) so that you don't know how fast they will be before they attack you.
-
Suggestion to myself: this should have gone into the suggestion thread. Anyway, when you picture-google for "celebrity zombie" (unlike my thread) some interesting pictures show up... some even not photoshopped. Edit: celeritas (latin): speed, swiftness, celerity
