will zeds be dropped from the game?

[Daisy] What a name for a zombie horror playerdeathkill hardcore survival game. -
Why does one need an ingame map? The paper map sold with Arma X (and separately I think) works perfectly...

Third person view removal from SA discussion
roguetrooper replied to lev's topic in General Discussion
3rd person is not cheating. That what everybody can do or has access to is not cheating. It may be unrealistic, but it isn't cheating. Concerning realism. How can sitting in a soft chair in a warm room with a fridge and microwave in range be a realistic simulation of survival "out there"... in a world with fantasy monsters. How can hitting a few keys in a chair be realistic survival? Reading the word "bleeding" on a screen does not make you feel pain. Rendered rain does not make you feel coldness. The idea with not rendering movable objects (I would add everything lootable/takeable) when the characters' eyes can't see them is quite interesting. In my personal opinion in 1st-person-only-view there is something missing in comparison to real-life-view (I think this is what mentioned "situal awareness" is referring to). RL view somehow feels like a mix of ingame 1st and ingame 3rd person view though you can't see anything your RL-eyes have no direct line of sight to (excluding mirrors or optical devices). -
Since I've been slightly scratched by a zombie, my health status went from "nothing" to "healthy". 1. When you spawn fresh, you have no health display at all, seemingly indicating "100% health". So is "healthy" more injured than "nothing" (even only 99%) ? 2. How can you cure/tread this "healthy but below 100% status" ?
-
Indeed, "healthy" then will disappear very fast- And yes, I will drink poison :-/

Zombies' preferences changed from human meat to trousers? -
In my opinion, the current compass is an example of over-design.
roguetrooper replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in General Discussion
That space-thing only works when your space-key is bound to "lower/rise" weapon. My "space" e.g. is for turning the head... -
It would be helpful to know in advance what's the daytime on a server. So you wouldn't have to log in and out of 20 servers when you just don't like to play on a pitch black one (and having no NVG).

roguetrooper replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in General Discussion
OP is right somehow. Why do you have to put your gun onto your back when you just want to have a quick view on the compass which can be stored in your trouser's pocket. Usually I don't like such things just appearing on the screen as if displayed on a HUD. But the thing with packing away your rifle and having to take it back isn't that great as well. -
Usually you only hear "friendly" when you meet sombody who has no (fire) weapon or stumble into somebody who is not pointing his gun onto you.

Buy the paper map of Chernarus (included in the Arma X edition or available separately by Bohemia or print it by yourself). An offline-map works absolutely perfect and you don't have to waste a slot in your inventory. As stated above, ingame you have to gather the pieces of the whole map.

Concerning the rendering of objects/loot only when you are inside of a building: You can see things/loot by looking through the window. Why shouldn't you be able to see these things being hundred(s?) of meters away with a good scope?

Great guide for new players - tells you what each symptom means and how to cure!
roguetrooper replied to marsmars's topic in New Player Discussion
In the final version (or even later Alpha ones) it should be impossible to drink such things. It also might happen by accident. It might be a means to get rid of a stuck character, but killing yourself with your weapon is also impossible. So drinking "poisons" should not be implemented at all. -
Stop with the "This weapon doesnt belong" posts.
roguetrooper replied to bassist05's topic in General Discussion
Why must Dayz have something to do with the things going on in Chernarus displayed in the Arma story? In Dayz Chernarus is just a pre-made almost-whole-country as a free playground. It does not have to base on any story told in Arma or somewhere else. -
The RV engine is the worst engine ever made.
roguetrooper replied to EchelonEffect's topic in General Discussion
The whole Arma/Dayz playground with all objects, houses, trees, water, rocks and everything already exists in this engine. How long does it take to create such a "whole country" (playground) in a new engine? -
Make pistol holster mounted to belt and compatible with vests.
roguetrooper posted a topic in General Discussion
You should be able to be equipped with a vest and a pistol holster the same time. Thus, the holster should be attached to your belt (and being able to carry nothing but a pistol/revolver). I don't mind wearing the holster on the chest but I suppose there to be graphical glitches with vests -> that's why attached to belt. -
M4s are usually very easy to find. Where can you find Mosins? From a logical point of view I'd say in villages/farms as remnants of WW2, but...
-
Dead bodies (players) do not disappear instantly. I've seen it lying for several minutes. Anyway, making player bodies disappear instantly (two seconds) might reduce the rate of killing for easy loot.

Do you keep your character when you change your Steam name?

Topic says it. Might be a stupid question but I'd rather like to know in advance. Can anybody confirm yes/no by own experience? -
How not to Rage losing a fully equipted character
roguetrooper replied to GenericSurvivor's topic in General Discussion
Most likely it is not about losing the character and the good stuff. It's more the idiots roaming there who just look how to inflict the most pain to others without being able to be 'punished'. But since this behaviour is not against the 'game rules' and is something everybody can do (and is 'allowed' to), it must be accepted. Like in real life: the more you have, the more you're afraid of losing it. Maybe this helps the most: there are hundreds of million or even billions of people who go to bed hungry each day, have no fresh water, no school, suffer mutilation, illness, pain and hopelessness and lose family and friends because of war. Or live under hellish and sadistic idiots like in North Korea. Or whatever. When your character on your screen dies... so what is it? Go to your fridge and get a fresh drink... this would be heaven for many people on earth. -
Is it possible to play the DayZ standalone Chernarus in Arma 2 or Take on Helicopters offline? I.e. to use the DayZ files as a mod for A2/TOH and play it offline? I'm only interested in the map itself and the DayZ-SA weapons for offline shooting training. I'm not interested in the DayZ-specific stuff as food or zombies.
-
Making it an offline mod for A2/TOH ?
roguetrooper replied to roguetrooper's topic in General Discussion
I spoke of Arma TWO, not 3 (and of Take on Helicopters because once I heard DayZ-SA is based on this). Anyway, it would be great to have an offline SP or LAN MP version of DayZ-SA. Of course, it should be impossible to take characters created there into the internet servers. -
Playing not in a group, what primary weapon do you prefer? 1. high range and single shot (with scope) 2. mid-range and automatic (with scope) Does the Mosin at all have an advantage over M4 in long distances (whatever 'long' may be)?

How often have your shot somebody because you don't want to loose everything?
roguetrooper posted a topic in General Discussion
How often have you shot somebody just to stay alive (and not having to start from scratch again) and not because you play (or are...) evil? E.g. when you come around a corner or enter a building and see somebody with a gun and have no time to seek cover.
