Off topic, but I really wish that eventually one-handed wielding of pistols would be implemented into Arma 3. Running (not close quarter approaching) with both hands on a pistol (or any other item of that size) is so tremendously rediculous. (Just saying, I know Arma III has nothing to do with DayZ sa).

Phrases might come handy when you encounter a non-English speaker.
roguetrooper replied to yazar8's topic in General Discussion
Lol, beside the fact that the 'translations' are fun, the phonetics, the orthography and grammar are rubbish... (most likely no difference for a non-native speaker :-P) (and please don't say "sh" when it reads "ch") -
With ChernarusPlus as a mod in Arma 3 (and using free cam in Arma 3's editor). Edit: Hmmm, I just see in the lower left of that screen a DayZ inventory icon... so then it's a cheat/hack in DayZ?

Cheese has holes. The more cheese, the more holes. The more holes, the less cheese. ---> The more cheese, the less cheese.

1.) (I know how to change from stable to experimental.) Can you change from experimental to stable by just unchecking the option in steam? 2.) Can you change forth and back several times between stable and experimental? 3.) Do you have four characters then? Or is the the stable 1st person character taken over to experimental 1st person? What happens when you change from experimental to stable with items that don't exist yet on stable?

DayZDB and the print map included in the Arma X Anniversary DVD pack (pinned to the wall to the left of my screen).

What's the background music?

Usually you can't chamber a .38 special revolver with .357 ammo since it is bigger than the chamber (to prevent accidents). Further, it is not recommended to shoot a lot of .38 special ammo with a .357 revolver since it slowly damages the chambers.

How can admins kick? Do they have to type or click on a list?
-
I don't blame anyone here for doing so. But that's exactly the purpose of private servers. Equipping themselves in an absolutely safe environment. Admins should not be able to kick somebody, since you can't identify anyway who is who and cheating should be the only reason for being kicked. Bad pings are kicked automatically. So no reason for admins to be able to kick.

Why to chose between Longhorn and Obrez? Both serve different purposes. Obrez is for close quarter battle and Longhorn is SOME KIND of sniping.

Looks like you forgot to decrease the gamma value after having played in night time.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
roguetrooper replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
The DayZ standalone is still burdened with one heritage: Arma is just not made for melee combat. It will always feel clumsy until they drastically change it deep within the core of the engine. -
There should be only one type of server. One unified view mode: 3rdp being available. But: * you can't do anything except moving and looking (maybe even in upright posture only) * no HUD (not even crosshair), no hotbar * no inventory interaction, no environment interaction * no shooting, no reloading, no dropping * the screen fades slowly out and in for a few seconds while you switch view modes and you can't move meanwhile

Why are there still awkward animations that cannot be canceled?
roguetrooper replied to Surefire187's topic in General Discussion
Alpha. Don't worry. Everything is justified with that word. Since December 2013. No issue ever leaves Alpha status. Everything is held equally on that status. -
1st / 3rd person server ?

I never understood why Chernarus (already in Arma 2) is not a big island. This would make the map get rid of that unfitting, unrealistic and stupid endless land in the north and west. The ocean all around then would be a natural border of the gameplay area. Further, the map could be designed in a way where players spawn all around the map on the coast line (with little villages for rudimental equipment and hideout more or less equally all around) and the points of interest are more towards the "center" of the map. A big capital, with suburban areas, big airfield and all that.

to whoever I killed at NWAF, thanks for the perfect m4

Hey, you've looted a gun. In DayZ. Congratulations. -
A big island instead of generic land in north and west
roguetrooper replied to roguetrooper's topic in Suggestions
Mkay, a new composition of the map is not required and the most sought-after place may remain in the northwest corner, but they just need to cut off the generic land and shape it a bit coastline-ish. Or as suggested before, put in mountains or rivers However, it is some kind of fact that the current 'border' in the north and west IS quite rediculous. -
Make more zombies but remove their ability to run.
roguetrooper replied to magafe's topic in Suggestions
Many slow/weak zombies or few fast/strong zombies. Maybe fewer zombies should be preferred concerning server performance. -
Recently I saw a thread "I took out a fully geared guy with only an axe". The sounds ARE completely f***ed up. Especially the random ones with no real source (door creak in the wilderness, opening a coke, zombies although none is nearby).

Sorry for smart-arsing, but it's CheRnarus (tsharny (russ), černá (czech) = black) ;) -
I don't play it as a deathmatch game. Just 95% of all players with a firearm in their hands attack me instantly. No matter what I'm doing, what I'm wearing, what I'm saying or say nothing at all. I just wonder how beards, scars or hair colour would change this. Further, my Tab activates Voice over Net. My inventory key is "i".

Indeed, sometimes I wish you could have more character slots (when I feel like testing other styles of gameplay but don't want to give up my fully military eqipped character). But somehow I think, the style of the game and the gameplay should allow only one character per player at a time (instead of the two in different view modes). Having different kinds of servers somehow just clutters up everything unneccessarily. The two types of view modes might be combined into a single one: Third person is generally available, but you can't do anything in it: no HUD elements, no inventory, no weapon switch, no firing/attacking, no hotkeys, nothing can be taken or dropped. Maybe even the angle of head movement (view) might be restricted a bit (in 3rdp). Simply nothing else would be possible than moving and looking. And switching between 1st and 3rd might take some seconds (3-5, maybe even random each time) while the screen is faded out and in and the character can't move or change stance meanwhile (while switching). All this could be very easy and quickly implemented. So when you chose 3rdp, you can have it all the time, but you have to deal with sever trade-offs; making you think which view mode to chose before you enter the NWAF, Berezino or Zelenogorsk on a crowded server.

Holy sh. Arma 2 just isn't made for this. See how they struggle to force the engine do things it was originally not made for. I strongly support the idea of detailed customization... but. And what would it be good for? We have to face it. DayZ is a deathmatch game. Nobody is interested in any looks. Especially when you can't see it (on yourself on 1stp servers and on other characters as well due to hats, helmets, masks). Further, 99% of all close quarter encounters only last a few seconds.
