I am not banned nor have I ever been. Just wondering. When you are banned, you can't log into the game from the steam surface at all? (Since a ingame player name ban list would be quite useless).

Does anyone actually enjoy killing zombies in DayZ?
roguetrooper replied to Awruk's topic in General Discussion
The zombies are just an excuse why society has fallen apart and why there is anarchy. They don't contribute to the gameplay. For a freshspawn without an axe they are just annoying and with at least a pistol they are no threat at all. I mainly use zombies for sniper training from far away. -
No. Duping is an unintented exploit due to some kind of bug and must be fixed by the devs.
-
Has the sword an advantage over the firefighter axe? With the axe you can additionally chop wood. Edit: the sword must be put into a backpack and not into the axe-slot ?? Alltogether, the sword seem worse that the brass knuckles...

3PP view is not cheating because it is an inherent game feature that everybody can use or not; all the time to his likes (on according servers). 3PP view is not an exploit because it is working as intented by the programmers. 3PP is just a feature. No more. No less. As realistic as the need to drink 1 liter every 10 minutes when running. Or to return to full health within 1 minute after being shot/wounded. Or to store 6 tins of beans in your trousers. Or as zombies.

How do you manage your real life and DayZ at the same time?

Try having a real life while playing EverQuest II hardcore - that's a real challenge! -
TERRIBLE mistake resulted in a hilarious situation

I don't know why the current UI still has no numbers in the hotbar. But at least we had teddy bears.

The server history tab is rubbish (please fix it to make it useful). The few seconds display while the game loads are useless. When you are ingame and notice the server is good or bad, how to you obtain its name or IP when you haven't written it down manually in the lobby? I've suggested it a long time ago: why aren't name and IP of the current server displayed when you bring up the player list?
-
What are those servers that don't spawn any items at all? I don't mean they spawn 'useless' stuff only, but literally not a single item, even in inland villages (though good ping and no desync)? Has it to do with persistence?
-
Since a few days I have more desync than sync. Nothing of my internet connection, hardware or software has changed. I can't play even three minutes before I encounter a new severe desync. Every server in different countries I connect to are affected. That's annoying. Has something changed concerning server and transmission?

When wearing these dresses, the character should 'say': "I feel sexy" instead of "I feel cold".

List of small things which should make DayZ even more realistic and fun
roguetrooper replied to vapiscz (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
Holy shit. I'd never do this with fire arms being available. Number 13: In real life it is used instead of a quick headshot to make the victim suffer additionaly. What sense would this have in a video game? Brrrb. The holy hanging stuff is just too disgusting. More than decapitating or shooting. -
Option: permanent display of ping and desync
roguetrooper replied to roguetrooper's topic in Suggestions
There is a potential desync all the time. And the player list is rubbish. You have to search your name in a big list, and your own name isn't even highlighted or somewhat. To have ping and desync all the time visible is much more convenient. Otherwise you notice desnyc only when it hits you (character doesn't take items, step over doesn't work etc...). Since it's optional, everyone should be pleased. -
To the fully geared guy I killed at the Elektro fire station -

There are hundred thousands of active players and hundreds of servers. Players are basically anonymous. Most likely not all take part activeley in the forums. No offence, but what makes you think you'll receive an response from that person? -
Is it possible to become 100% waterproof (not diving but rain and walking in shallow water)? What equipment would you have to wear? Wellies, raincoat, drybag, ... ? Are there any disadvantages (heat, cold)?

One reason why I prefer 3rd person view.

Lead Producer of DayZ says, "1PP is better"
roguetrooper replied to rickyriot's topic in General Discussion
No. An exploit is something that was not intended by the programmers. When players become immortal by holding an apple in their hands and do so to become immortal, then it is an exploit. It's not a cheat because it comes from the unmodified game engine itself. Using 3rdp is no cheat and no exploit. It is intended just to work that way. It's just unrealistic, no more, no less. Like the ingame wound/fracture treatment or interval of need for water and food. -
Lead Producer of DayZ says, "1PP is better"
roguetrooper replied to rickyriot's topic in General Discussion
My signature. Edit: 1. Please stop calling 3rdp a "cheat". That what is available to everybody in regular game mechanics is not a cheat. It may be unrealistic, but it's not a cheat. Hm wait. Realistic survival? Uh? I'm sitting in a warm, dry room in a soft chair with a fridge, microwave, warm water and toilet in range. That mouse and screen hardcore training will give you a real advantage in an apocalyptic RL environment later! 2. Just because he is a lead programmer doesn't mean that 1stp is 'really better'. It's still the opinion of an individual. There are many who agree with him, but his single opinion doesn't have the million-fold power of any other gamer's opinion. -
Third Person View should be Over-the-Shoulder, NOT a bird's eye view.
roguetrooper replied to Rags!'s topic in General Discussion
A bit off-topic, since this thread's topic is the style of 3rdp and not its overall existence: There might be one type of server only: 3rd person with these restrictions: * you can't do anything except moving and looking (maybe even in upright posture only) * there is no HUD, no crosshair (dot), no hotbar * there is no inventory interaction, no environment interaction, no shooting, no reloading, no dropping * the screen might fade out and in for a few seconds while switching between 1st and 3rdp Conventional 3rdp is unrealistic compared to RL but 1stp doesn't feel realistic as well: in opposite to RL it feels like being within a robot or stiff Mech suit. With that combined and single view mode only, there is some kind of tactical component. For an advantage you have to sacrifice something. Further, then there might be one kind server only. Concerning realism, a 1stp-only-DayZ is closer to Call of Duty or Battlefield than being actually physically "out there" in an survival situation. Having spent 10000 hours in Chernarus contributes less to a RL survival situation than having spend 10 hours really out there. -
