I dont understand why there is no AUTO RUN KEY!!!
roguetrooper replied to Bohannan (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
With my Logitech G510 I have an autorun key. -
Have you ever been on YouTube watching stuff like "public hanging in Iran"? That's pure evil sadistic superbullshit.
-
Berezino, not Berenzino.
-
Vybor is pronounced "Veebor", not "Whybor" (actually the second letter of the Russian word can not be translitterated correctly into English)...
-
Please remove the annoying feature that "Ctrl + x" (or Shift + Alt + x or any other auxiliary key combination) is treated like pressing "x" only (x as synonym for any letter key). When you have assigned "lying down" to "x", then the character should not lie down when you press "Ctrl + x".
-
Been suggesting this for months. But this info might be shown in the character list. Further, the character list should display your own name, ping and desync visible all the time within the character list, independently from the other names. It's quite annoying to search for your name in that long list, then click on it to see your desync. And you definitely should be able to add the server you are currently playing on to your favourites.

Actually the sound of the rain is more annoying than the ingame wetness issues. When you've been playing for 30 minutes in rain end then close the game... it is an incredible sudden relief for the ears...
-
The rain isn't constant. Since you are "super new to the game" you might have hit just a longer period of rain on your servers/sessions. There might be a lot of rain, but there are also long sunny/non rainy periods. Anyway, you need to look for a raincoat or Gorka military clothing and a drybag or a Tortilla (how however they are called) backpack. With the Gorka clothing and a waterproof backpack you can walk for hours within rain without getting wet (swimming or walking through ponds still soaks you instantly). Further, use the sun and the estimated daytime (until you find a compass) and the online map (http://dayzdb.com/map) to navigate properly and equip quickly.
-
I'd rather say, private servers (i.e. where admins can kick freely) just serve the purpose to equip the admin(s) and their group quickly and totally safely with plenty of the best loot available to use it then on other servers or to let others join after they have equipped themselves. Anyway, there should NOT be any option anywhere to turn off friendly fire. IRL it isn't possible and so it shouldn't be in DayZ. Groups need to communicate, to aim and the abililty not to fire when necessary. When the devs will allow mods, then it will be the same chaos as in the Arma series. X players then will have X+1 game versions that are mostly incompatible to each other. PvE anyway is boring. A hundred zombies are less 'scary' and challenging than a single hostile human player.

I wonder why you can't merge the sticks of two boxes into one (to max capacity). Btw, wasn't it once possible to merge one water bottle with another, which isn't possible any more?

Going AFK With Gear - Will Fresh Spawns Knock Me Out?
roguetrooper replied to xTyler73's topic in Gallery
Lol, the character gets up and down repeatedly when you log out? Didn't know that. What is it good for? To make sure, somebody who points with a gun at you while you hold your hands up gets the chance to kill and loot you while you log out "secretly"? -
So I'm not the only one who thinks so. Hundred thousands of people have already bought the game (i.e. the Alpha) and spent millions of Dollars to it. People really want to play it. They are eager. The Alpha has been out now for more than a year. Arma II and more or less whole Chernarus have already been existing. For an anticipated AAA title that already has flushed in $$$ and whose skeletal structure has already been existing (it didn't need to be done from scratch) to all those people out there being eager to eventually play it, it really seems to be a very slow process. Concerning the duping: are there hundreds of methods to dupe?

Tired running around for trucks >=[
roguetrooper replied to MatchboxChick's topic in General Discussion
What's the point of having a truck? Except to advertise yourself to potential enemies. -
Maybe in 3rd person view. IRL you also don't have raindrops in front of your eyes on a virtual window.
-
You CAN jump over things out of running. Though it can be clumsy and needs a bit training in estimating distance and point of time (of pressing the button).
-
Btw, what is so extremely difficult for the devs to fix duping?

Aren't 'a few' (whatever this may be) zombies enough to serve as a reason why the ingame world is as it is and why its society has fallen apart? PvP is the core of DayZ. Not necessarily a kill rate of 50/hour, but the omnipresent threat of other players. Anyway, a hundred AI zombies aren't nearly as thrilling as a single hostile player nearby. A lag free gameplay is worth more than a zombie world with a lot of zombies (in comparison to a few zombies). And somehow I think DayZ (or the Arma-ish engine and network at all) will never be able to handle 50 players and hundreds of mobs (in the same zone) as fluidly and lag free as EverQuest II or WoW can do. Edit: I've just brought up this topic because personally I'd prefer a fluid gameplay (fps-, lag- and ping-wise) instead hundreds of zombies at the same time (when both at the same time is not possible). I've been scripting and mapping since Arma 1 and having hundreds of NPCs in Arma just isn't what you could call a fluid gameplay. My concerns aren't many zombies in a zombie game but rather lags and fps (no, I don't need to be it a COD kiddy shooter with 60 fps).

New map in the future?...whats the rumours?
roguetrooper replied to svisketyggeren's topic in General Discussion
A second monitor or tablet is sufficient for the online map. Or just pin the official Chernarus map, delivered with the Arma X anniversary editon, next to your screen and mark the Plus-spots on it... -
Going AFK With Gear - Will Fresh Spawns Knock Me Out?
roguetrooper replied to xTyler73's topic in Gallery
Why do you sit down and stand up and look around all the time after "going AFK" the first times? Btw, why can you hear the guy speaking after you've killed yourself? Didn't the devs say some time ago there shouldn't be heard anything anymore after you've died? -
Now and later it needs only one or two bullets to aquire food for hours or ammo to kill 60 zombies or to get rid a potential killer. Players will be killing each other as now, no matter how many and how dangerous zombies are out there or how grey their screen is due to hunger or coldness.
-
Imagine DayZ as a single player game. PvP (i.e. the presence of other players who can kill you) is the spice of DayZ. An offline search for food and warmth would be quite boring. Maybe they (or Dean) intented it to be more focussed towards "a few humans vs. many zombies", but actually people play it PvP. I am not against many zombies. I just brought up this topic concerning how bad the (current) engine is in handling many NPCs (models and their bahaviour) at once in comparison to other games with many NPCs.
-
Why do we need such things? Someone already suggested hanging. A DayZ suicide just serves the purpose to be able to start out with a new character. The DayZ suicide is just an animation of a menu button "Delete Character". Further, why would anybody use such a painfull bullshit when there are plenty of guns available? Seeing your character stabbing his heart in a video game is the same level and duration of pain like seeing him stabbing a pen into his throat.

Nevermind. YouTube told me.

Thanks. Most likeley it means "press 'strafe left' and 'strafe right' repeatedly" (since I've assigned strafing to other keys than A and D).

Can a moderator...or anyone give me some advice?
roguetrooper replied to Survivor05's topic in General Discussion
Without exaggeration I'd say your chances to survive for more than a week within the line of sight and the weapon range of unknown players are lower than spending one week in the foremost frontline at battle of Verdun.
