Do it yourself then. You can achieve it if you try. Remember: This is your story...

It is not 'crap' sir. I am quite sure you probably secretly enjoy it. ;) -
Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.
beastoverlord replied to ruarz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This is actually a good idea. If they find a way to add cargo pants, I'm sure this mechanic is very similar so maybe it wouldn't be hard to implement. Beans for you! (Especially because most ideas aren't very good) -
At least you caught the rabbit. I can never catch the little suckers without an LMG.
-
You wished what happened more often? I come across and tent every other day, and my clan has a new helicopter once to twice a week. Just play more and you can have all the goodies. :)
-
Vehicles are extremely rare and weapons are hard to come by. Just keep playing, use this loot map to help you find stuff: http://dayzdb.com/map
-
There used to be an error similar to this... I think it was BE script restriction #42? Anyways, my squad has lost a good 4+ helicopters from that. It always only kicks the pilot too.
-
So do the other servers actually have thousands of vehicles, or is it false advertising?

What if... Chernarus and surrounding lands are in quarantine?
beastoverlord replied to amlaborde@windstream.net's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You wake up on the beach with no memory of your past. Surprisingly, you have a backpack on. Upon searching it you only find a bottle of painkillers, a flashlight, and a bandadge. Somehow though, you feel completely full and hydrated. You lift your warm body off the soaking sand and drag yourself away from the beachead. After a few minutes of walking you spot a roadway winding along the coastal range. As you wander down the empty highway, you find dozens of broken-down vehicles in various states of disrepair. 'What could have done this?' you wonder to yourself. As you travel farther along the road, you have no recollection of your surroundings. Finally, while approaching a town, you see a road-sign. Maybe this can give you clues about where you are and what your past is! Strangely, the sign is in a dialect that you can't understand. Nothing in this place seems to make sense at all. As you get closer to the town, people materialize out of thin air. 'Am I hallucinating?' you ask yourself. You are overcome with joy though to find human contact in this otherwise desolate world. As you run closer to them, something seems wrong. It doesn't seem right for people to howl and stagger around. You decide to continue running towards them. The sound of running footsteps and screams sends a chill running down your spine. These people aren't friendly at all. The vacant look in their eyes assures that they aren't running to greet you in celebration, they are greeting you with death. You continue running full speed through the town, dodging around buildings and through alleyways until you have finally lost the hoard. As you slow down, you catch your breath and decide pound the bottle of painkillers. 'This has to be a dream. These drugs will help to keep my shakiness down,' you tell yourself. As you continue your way through the buildings, the sound of flies catches your attention. You are curious and decide to follow it. As you near the sound, you see a body lieing on the ground. You cautiously approach it by crawling through the short grass. As you near the body, you see that the person had a bullet hole right through their chest. 'Who could have done this and how did it happen?' you wonder. As you slowly open up their backpa-*CRACK* You wake up on the beach with no memory of your past. Surprisingly, you have a backpack on. Upon searching it you only find a bottle of painkillers, a flashlight, and a bandadge. Somehow though, you feel completely full and hydrated. You lift your warm body off the soaking sand and drag yourself away from the beachead... -
I remember the old days (well they still exist) of crap-tons of wire fencing that created artifacting everywhere. You could always find bases by following the direction that it was coming from.
-
Just wondering, what is the max vehicle spawns? Because I've seen one that has thousands. I forget the name... but it seemed to have way more than the servers that claim to have max.

So what are your plans for Standalone
beastoverlord replied to soap167's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm not quite sure what this is supposed to encompass. I just want to play. I want to see all the cool new goodies and continued updates in the future. -
Best places to pitch a tent/make a base?

I just wanted you to take out a map, and think for yourself without just giving you the answer. But yeah, DemonGroover hit the nail on the head. -
Devblog update: Where is the Standalone?
beastoverlord replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Woah woah woah, let's not turn this into a flame war or anything. 1. I was telling YOU to use Google. If you didn't understand what I was saying, I was implying that you could use Google to find synonyms for some of the bigger words I used. 2. It is an INFECTION simulator. There has already been a 12 page paper written by Rocket's brother, who is a virologist, on how this could be a realistic thing 3. I have no idea what you just said... I'm sorry if English isn't your first language. 4. But why would it be fun if the game holds your hand? -
Devblog update: Where is the Standalone?
beastoverlord replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Yes. There IS a higher framerate currently for the DayZ SA, or at least this is what it sounds like from the interviews. It will probably be slowed back down to where it is though by adding more zombies, better graphics, or more players per map though. So it will most likely be the same as it is currently. -

1. I used a couple big words, don't get angry. That's what Google is here for. 2. Yes, it's a game, but it is also a survival simulator. I don't need my hand held in a video game. Why do we have to have dots over people's name's or their nametags in flashy colors? Do you think that they have that in real life? Absolutely not. I feel that the dots that they already have in Arma II would break the feeling of survival in the game. 3. I have no idea what you just said... we do, or don't? I feel like my words may sound trollish, but I usually get my points out through sarcasm. If you read my original post, everything is relevant to my opinion, just with humor added. 4. Yep... But wouldn't it be so much more fun to play a survival simulator than to have a PvP Deathmatch? I feel that you just want to twist this game into what the general public thinks is 'fun.' CoD isn't for me, that's why I'm here. -

It already has been, but they are most likely going to slow it down by putting more content in its place. -

Which town have you never decided to loot because it only has a couple enter-able buildings? Just think a tiny bit. -

Right in the center of towns that nobody goes to. Nobody ever thinks to look there. -

In real life, when you were a little kid, did you ever mistake someone else to be your mom? Now, when you are running around with assault rifles in a post-apocalyptic world, drugged up on adrenaline and morphine, you don't think you will have any problem recognizing a friend? Or are our characters tripping balls so bad that they see glowing, translucent dots or letters floating in mid air. That wouldn't make sense now would it? -
1. They already have the MI-17 ingame. 3. Commercial airlines? The problem is that there is no place to hide airplanes since they need runways to land. If you played on a server with airplanes, you would know they last less than 30 minutes after they spawn.

ArmA Devs have been freed

Yo, there's a main thread in the announcements section on this. ;) http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/118008-ivan-martin-free-on-bail/ -
If it's the whole skin, and they aren't running a different mod, then they are hackers.

Why all the AI's and stuff? This game is built around human interaction. Additionally, part of the fun of the game is that nothing is safe. If you want safezones, play WarZ.

The Most Peaceful Places On Chernarus

I like Polana the most. A delightful little town.
