Those tents are "buildings" in arma, they're not allowed in DayZ if I remember correctly, That's why you get the kicks, when the player sees them it calls the object from their local arma directory and the server dayz code thinks they're hacking it in not just looking at it. I could be wrong but that is the impression I get... From what little I've looked into it getting custom set pieces that are not already in DayZ is not an easy task. You have to either make them allowed or use bliss to put them in I think... again if anyone else knows different please speak up. I'm NO expert... -
Quiver's are a MUST IMO. 8 per item slot. 1866 can do it.... A separate suggestion which I think might already be in w/o them saying so, if you retrieve a bolt from a zombie it should then infect a player you shoot it with. If you are bleeding when you grab it you should get infected... I really like the idea of the zombie plague being more of a factor in the game. Would love some sort of crazy cross over thing where if you get infected you actually turn into a zombie and have to eat brains or die slowly... but I know that would kill the experience for a lot of people and be terribly difficult to build into the game.

Sorry I lied, that's not the link, and I can't find the one I'm thinking of... I will take a better look tonight, it might have been in the Armaholic forums, or opendayz but I'm not sure. Essentially the trick was swapping in the positions for the buildings into the working DB and not via an modified uploaded mission.pbo. But I can't remember if this worked for banned buildings or if in that case you had to modify the dayz code... essentially making a "new" map... Like Taviana.com vs Tavianna dayzland.eu IMO if you're going to modify a map so much that it requires either a separate install or a big DL for all user's then you might as well just make a NEW map. -

I believe if you go as far as modifiing the Dayz code that is tied in to allow all the objects/building/loot you've added it will no longer recognize the map items as scripts... and it WILL still log/kick when a user DOES run a script to accomplish something similar... Believe there is also a work around with bliss for this too that you can use for dayz.st... there is a thread on it somewhere... but essentially what you do is you add those buidlings and spawns into your exisiting stock bliss database... You do this by entering the buildings in the DB and then populating their positions with the positions from the mission PBO you modified. Cricket cricket.... SO I've been going back and forth with Gameservers.com and they have no idea other than re-install... I don't want my players to lose their stuff so I'm not really ok with that... First I went around and destroyed ALL the vehicles... not every single one but damn near... (luckily enough hacker had spawned a hacker box with 50 of everything so I saved a all the satchel charges for rainy days (I use them mainly to blow up hacked vehicles and hacker camps (I fly around the map so I can't drive over the tents)) So that seemed to work, but the first time I did it I only did the ones at the spawns.... I'm not sure if it was the next day or what, but there was another busy day on the server and hackers crashed just about every vehicle on the map. After the next restart the double spawns started, Two of every vehicle where the original and the hacked one's had been destroyed... weird thing is the legit ones have the proper damage and spawn contents (Mt. Dews in Mi17's, Ammo/grenades in UAZ, tents in ATV's etc etc) but the hacked ones had NO contents and SOME damage but all had a little bit of gas so you could hop on and go.... First time I noticed this I was going to move some, but they were spawned on top of each other and lots ended up either blowing up themselves or making the other one bounce off it and blow up as soon as I got in... I almost died like 5 times... other times they just separated fine and the hack one could drive off... I blew them all up hoping it would correct itself after stopping the server for a couple of minutes and doing a restart.. No luck. I've moved almost all the vehicles I know the spawn points for and freaking drove them to the corners of the map and damaged the crap out of them... it's prob. the most rediculously PITA thing I've ever had to do though.... I run to a vehicle, HOPE it doesn't kill me when I get in, use parts I've saved to fix it, and then drive it 3-5k into the woods and shoot the shit out of it... like 2 out of 10 have gotten destroyed half way or more into the journey or while I'm shooting them to damage. So they just respawn again... It's making me totally insane that I have to spend every minute of time I have to play running and moving vehicles I will then never use again as they're not legit lol... but I don't know what else to do... ANYONE SMART PLEASE HELP!!!! -

CPU is what get's hogged in Arma II, You must have a TERRIBLE processor to get rates like that though, I have a dual core 2.5ghz AMD with a HD7770 video card and 6 gb's of cheap ram. I get 10-18fps when I'm frapsing.

Hackers. Using There Tools Against them?

There are lots of threads on this, frankly I think the chance of them doing anything is slim to none... BE is already cut out of the SA because they aren't easy to deal with from what I've gathered... I know that I've posted a bunch of times about this and always get lots of support from other admins and no action or replies from anyone in power to change it... The long and short of it is, if you hack on a public server even as the admin, they just don't care, you're a hacker and have to buy a new key if you get caught... On a private hive it's basically the same thing unless you disable BE... You can only use the tools the server provider provides any 3rd party apps that get detected as hacks by BE if it's running will get you global banned... and no matter what you say to them they will not over turn it PERIOD... trust me. It's frankly a crap situation because legit players have to depend on server admins risking their own characters/keys to be even remotely safe from hackers... and admins of servers are simply on their own PERIOD... there is NO MORE support for the public hive, they don't even take new registrations for service tickets much less new tickets for existing server managers... I have 2 of every legit vehicle spawning on my server no matter what I do even after restarts, stops/starts, destroying ALL the double vehicles manually... they keep double spawning. My only option is to reinstall the server or HOPE that it reconnects to the public hive at some point and it gets noticed and fixed... I've been a big proponent of staying on the mod and not really being to concerned with when the SA is released... but at this point there is almost NO WAY it could be worse for admins... so I might jump ship earlier than I otherwise would want to... The only way to live with it at this point is to just realize you are powerless and either risk a licence trying to actively police the server with 3rd party solutions, OR to just let it be the wild west... Shit the players on my server NEVER report hackers or complain, half the time I review the chat logs it's people handing out vehicles and guns like it was xmas... I guess people like it... shit on some level I find it entertaining.... although almost starving to death being a legit admin having to run down to Elektro from the north to check out WTF hackers did on your server isn't cool... "Helicopter Swarm" and the ever popular "Nuke" are the scripts the two hackers where talking about in my logs when I had to run down and check it out.... (it's 3 parts thanks to YouTube but only have 1 & 2 up so far (2 has all the action but 1 is a worthwhile lead in)) -

SOOOO much debate in here is about stuff that you can already do in the mod or has been announced for the SA... For clans... everyone have the same skin, yes this gets ruined by guille's but shit if you can't remember what gun your buddies are carrying then play on regular servers and use clan tags so you do see their name over their head... Same goes for lots of complaints about death messages, play on veteran or expert servers, there are lots of custom configured servers out there that have no death messages but allow 3rd person.. or remove waypoints... I think if people spent some more time finding servers that fit their wants and needs they'd find a lot of this is already out there. As for the frame rates The engine and server side are both improved so even with a LOT more objects it should still run MUCH faster... DL the helicopter game the engine is based on and see what you get there.. Also folks should try to be sure they're posting these suggestions in the suggestions thread. Excited to hear more about the SA in this thread lol. -
So I've thought about this a little bit and figured I'd throw it out there... not really a super well developed idea but an idea non the less... Phone app where you can work on your equipment, base, vehicles etc... So... you don't have time to play the game or aren't at home w'ever... You open your dayz app and you can: Workshop: - Sharpen your knife or axe (this is in reference to the announcement that weapons will degrade hastens breakdown but increases/maintains original damage impact of the weapon) - Service your gun (guns that are cleaned regularly last longer) - Fix up your ghillie suit or other clothes, with paint or even foliage from/for different environments on the map (based again on having collected the spray paints or foliage) - Charge Batteries - They've mentioned batteries, so why not be able to find a hand crank recharger that you can then use in the app to recharge your batteries while offline - IF there are secured storage of vehicles or keys you could work on your car (find paint cans and paint your hilux to camo it better use parts you've found online to fix it offline) - Ammo reloading - Find powder/lead/brass out in the field and use matches/wood to melt the lead, require a toolbox to assemble the bits Weapon Mods - Swap scopes, barrels, grips etc whatever they make available Character mods: This could be far reaching too, if there is any skill leveling system built into the SA then you could practice those skills - Target Practice so you have a steadier scope and quicker return to steady sites after running and lower recoil not NO recoil but much quicker return to target and less recoil, a trained AND regular shooter has BOATLOADS more control over the sighting of his weapon than a trained shooter who hasn't shot in a while... muscle memory/strength goes a LONG way) - Exercise so you can run longer (maybe require in game more cans of food to get the food to stop blinking but have it last longer? make soda worse than water for hydration IF you're an exerciser o/wise leave it standard) - Meditate to build focus and decrease chances of getting spooked by zombies or high stress situations (less painkillers) - Kung fu to strengthen bones for less breaks and stronger melee abilities (less morphine) - Scouts Survival skills like fire starting (no matches needed once mastered), trap building (build them out of game place them in game and then make the traps spawn animals as a character would IF correct sized animal walks by they get trapped if not the trap stays set), water collection, wilderness medicine (learn how to and make remedies for some of the sickness they're including in SA) I think this would create classes w/o a true class system, certain people will just gravitate to certain skills and others won't bother with any of them and the game will be just fine for them and better for those who've invested extra time/effort without making it drastically unfair for non-leveling players. It adds a layer of depth for those who wish to dig deeper without requiring it of those who just want to casual game...

We have no side chat on our server, we do have xxx died messages but that's about it. If you don't want any of that stuff play on expert servers... Regarding the medical tent spawn, IMO that's silly... driving to a medical tent for your buddy to spawn or dragging his body there is no dif. then just meeting him after he's spawned normal... frankly you're better of with a normal spawn because you can free wheel through the cities not worried about losing your kit, might end up with some stuff you didn't have before... The medical tents would get camped and squads would get ripped apart are on their way in and out lol.... Arma had safe zones in some servers, but again this ONLY works if EVERYONE on the server is honorable which I think we can all attest to the unlikely chance of that happening on any dayz server lol. -

It would be pointless to have an app that forced you to expose your character that had no means of defending himself... that's why I said the character shouldn't be available. IF the SA has keys or other security for bases and cars then it's no different. Locked in your base working on your stuff... I don't really think it's some far off dream, nor that it would cause some huge problem for servers.. I can see why lots of people might think it's lame or not want to use it at all... but again that's my whole point... don't. It's not required it's just a bonus for those who WANT to spend extra time on it. Everyone keeps trying to make it into PLAYING the game, it's not , it would be an EXTENSION of the game.... honing your skills or working on gear.... you shouldn't be exposed and it won't give you some crazy advantage. -

I actually didn't post the IP on purpose. I thought I had redacted it earlier by editing the post but I guess not. I have done so now. I was very active on car forums and frankly even in the case of actual car theft, I don't think it's right to put out personal details like that even if it's a suspected ACTUAL thief... so obv. don't think it's ok to post IP's. -

I said second wave lol... didn't see a direct response to my first post (in fairness I also didn't read every post, I'm pretty tied up on the weekends with keeping hackers at bay on the public server)... I'm super meticulous, and will literally spend 8hrs a day getting in and out of vehicles if that's what you need tested... just saying... This is a pretty brief window I have to offer up my services... it seems like it's meant to be lol. Lost my job in the middle of getting obsessed with the game (not related)... I worked in a very high stress high demand atmosphere where screw ups are not tolerated. I have a great work ethic and am incredibly passionate about this game. Even after the SA release, or right now with the Mod, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to contribute to the DayZ team in ANY way I can (well no man love but almost anyway). Actually I'm more dedicated to the Mod since I know and love it, if there is anything I can do please let me know. -

I would love to be invited, even in the second wave or something, I've been admin of a public server since Sep, I just got a Private Hive Server from DayZ.st at the end of Dec. Playing since June watching since May... I built a PC just to play this game... I then bought 3 23" monitors to see better, I then replaced my laptop so I could have DayZDB up on the 32" tv.... Then I bought a second OA2 Key, Then BAF, Then PMC... I'm seriously in love... I'm beggging Pretty Please... I've prob. spent over $1,500 on this game lol... I made that map hanging on the wall... lovingly cut the edges off every printed page and taped them all together... it's going on pegboard so I can put colored pins in eventually... Please I'm sick NEED ACCESS lol. I have a youtube channel... no one cares about it lol but it's there... I am starting to edit together more and more videos... (some REALLY good one's to come had a scripter selling wares on our public server which I saw in the logs, Hopped on banned him and ran down to elektro to find automated helicopters shooting eachother and at the ground... crashing every couple of minutes... and nuclear wind/ash from the nuke he set off.... What I think a lot of the last comments I think are missing is that you won't NEED to do this... it will be VERY minor skill improvments. And you could have options to do all the same stuff in game... Working on a gun or tool or cloths or whatever out of game (so long as the components have been gathered IN GAME) doesn't really affect anything... does it matter if you click "combine for M1014" while you're hiding in a bush ready about to log out, or if you do it out of game?... The fact that your character logs out makes it "unrealistic" lol. Your character should have to sleep somewhere and if someone finds you they can kill you lol... good luck with that... or the game forcing you to sleep for 6-8hrs... SURE lol.. This would be little stuff that wouldn't affect your in game process, you can't go find new bases or parts or weapons, you can only work with what you've found to date... I have NO clue where the Google Maps and discovering other bases crap came from??? WHAT? YOU have access to YOUR stuff if there is a private inventory system (keys for cars or locked/sealed bases)... if there isn't for vehicles or bases then it sticks to stuff that's in your inventory or backback... TOTALLY fair IMO.... Log off oil your gun, sharpen your axe, practice some shooting w/ever. People can't stumble across the items you have in your backpack or inventory while you're logged out now so there is no real difference... It will give people who are more into the game another outlet to tinker and a SLIGHT advantage but again nothing huge, 5 second recovery after running isn't a huge difference from 7 or 10, 4-5 bounces per second of the scope isn't THAT much better than 6-8... a good player will adapt to whatever the mechanics are... I can shoot a moving target while I need painkillers and have just stopped running... not EVERY time... but with reasonable accuracy... Whether or not it's in game, experience and practice make you better anyway. Anyway just an idea, I think it would add a cool layer of depth for super dorks and not create an unfair advantage at the same time. -

If anyone in the know is reading this I'd REALLY like some help. Gameserver.com is clueless.... I went through and destroyed EVERY duplicate vehicle many of them at their spawns... they keep coming back in doubles... sometimes right on top of each other so the clip or destroy themselves if someone fixes them.... PLEASE HELP I REALLY don't want to have to wipe the server and bone all the people who have legitimately stocked up tents and repaired vehicles. -

I can't believe people are even suggesting that Bohemia should give away the SA... lol. This MOD was free, and the single best thing that's happened to PC gaming since DOOM... I can't even begin to emphasize what a powerful statement that is for me personally. I had forsaken PC gaming as lost... hadn't updated a PC in YEARS... saw DayZ on youtube and ordered a video card within weeks. Do people not realize if this was an xbox title it would have cost 60 bucks up front (not 20-30 like it is for Arma OA combined ops) then EVERY map that's come out since would have been DLC for 5-10 bucks EACH??? Now you want the completely redesigned/engineered game for free? Get real people, I've been almost constantly shocked at the level of entitlement this community (and tech/gaming communities in general) has of what is a SMALL team of people who basically revolutionized PC gaming forever. Why do you lazy couch potato whiners deserve ANYTHING from these guys?? much less a free game lol. Rocket/DevTeam - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LET ME TEST THE SA I WILL WORK MY ASS OFF IN ANY DIRECTION YOU ASK!!!!!!!!! -

See that's kind of my point, I don't want that IN the game, neither do LOTS of people, and we could play the game as it is without any of those "perks" and not really care... I mean the decorating yourself or vehicles or cloths should be in... But I'll be dead pissed if I have to stop and oil my gun in the middle of a firefight. It will allow for the added layer of depth hardcore gamers want without it making it drastically advantageous for them and not forcing casual gamers to do all this extra stuff... I don't want to spend 30-40minutes in game shooting at tree stumps to improve my accuracy, or sharpening my tools, or oiling my guns... but I sure as hell would on a break from work on my cell, or whenever... For me at least this is the first even approaching "simulation" game and Arma 2 is an AMAZING simulator, but DayZ has turned into something else, and I don't think all the extra stuff like I've mentioned will benefit IN GAME game play it will drag it down with all sorts of chores which you already have enough of between keeping a supply of food drink, medical, ammo, and weapons... You have to realize there are TONS of people who have never even left the coast, NEVER been in a car. They're not going to want to do all this ULTRA REAL stuff... With the phone app as the outlet for hardcore gamer needs but not a requirement to play the game I think it adds a dimension of depth that otherwise would cloud the gameplay that most people are looking for. -
That could be the "encouragement" to kill triggered by killing more than 5 people... Chants of Murder murder murder, kill kill kill progressively louder and louder until it blocks out your surrounding environment sounds... forcing you to kill again if you want to hear properly lol. But again honed sense of sight, less shakiness in the reticule after running, DEAD STILL sites if you're rested, and maybe even silencing the voices temporarily if you are steadying your gun or taking aim.... that would be an interesting mechanic... live with your choices lol. Hero's will have the snow white song playing quietly in the background and the occasional song bird or butterfly will land on your shoulder or gun barrel.... woodland creatures will flock to you so you can kill them for meat lol. OR if you really wanted to go full reward, you make them run considerably faster (they really don't now) and the body armor should be a little stronger and if you go over 7k humanity your character can Matrix dodge 2-3 rounds that would have otherwise hit you. Jesus, I might start working on a mod file.

I'm sure I'm one of a million asking, but I'm unemployed, 35 responsible and play CONSTANTLY. I admin 2 servers for the Mod (one public hive one private) and would do ANYTHING to be one of the testers... Seriously I will do nothing but test boring stuff all day long. I will write concise clear bug reports, not break any of the rules, and generally be giddy to help. Seriously I'd be a great asset to you guys if you give me a shot! -
How many serial killers get WORSE at killing people? If there were any experience points or w'ever for killing it would be the opposite, you'd get calmer and more steady at sniping people, you'd get better reactions and more control over your adrenaline dump etc etc... the only logical thing IMO would be to give ex killers PTSD when they retreat to the woods lol.... And they say serial killers start needing to kill MORE often to satisfy their desires... so really after 5-10 kills in the same life you should start NEEDING to kill people not getting worse at it... the need would lead to more risky attempts at other players and searching out trouble which would likely then lead to the players death... So it would be a penalty and reward, Kill people get better at it, but get blood lust and HAVE to keep killing... In general though I don't think player choices other than hacking/cheating should be penalized or rewarded.

I'm an avid scuba diver, and gotta say the LAST thing I would be doing in the zombie apocalypse is diving lol... really pointless, It's great for Arma 3 because they can build missions around it.. or have multiplayer maps built around more use of the water.... but for DayZ it's pointless and dumb IMO... Also just for technicalities sake a fireman's oxygen tank and mask could not be used underwater, a gas station air compressor can't be used to fill oxygen tanks for diving, and wesuits would be the death of you in any of the climates of any of the maps on the Mod except MAYBE lingor. WAYYYY too many suggestions and as stated before lots of which have been covered numerous times or have been announced as parts of the SA already.... -
Aren't underground bases and tunnels going to be part of the SA already? Also Namalsk has the underground place... and Taviana has at least some underground rail lines/subway stations. Definately worth expanding on... I'd love to see a Vietnamish map with MILES of networked crawl only tunnels with rooms and exits all over... that would be GREAT. The more the merrier though, Nuclear bunkers or silo's, backyard fallout shelters, gov't scale nuclear shelters...
