    patches? I don't run no stinking patches! My public hive WILL NOT RUN THIS UPDATE PERIOD... Barring a MAJOR MAJOR feature addition in the next actual update I will NEVER run this patch.

    [3D model] Different Food Qualities (3/29 Update)

    I'm on my way out the door, but the Sahrani Dev team is pushing HARD for this sort of thing to get set up NOW... We will be sharing ALL our assets when we go public with our server files, and we have already been granted access to some other map porters assets as well... I have a thread going on opendayz I'm going to be pushing harder in the next couple weeks but we have BIG BIG plans for our port and the future of mods in general.... I would LOVE for you to join the conversation... I promise you won't have to tweet to me to see if your hard work is going in game or not... We are not going to attempt what so ever to monetize our map, port, or assets, so we have no worries of law suits . FYI we are 1 vote away (technicality only) from being 100pct on keeping all this stuff in Sahrani forever, and I personally will not be patching in the removal of the new food items on my public hive server. Great work guys (ALL OF YOU GUYS) and sorry to see your hard work getting lost in all this drama...

    ****************ACTUAL SUGGESTION*********************** SO why not have a difficulty subset "reality on/off"... IE Verteran w/realism Veteran w/o realism So reality on: NO silly named foods or items NO GPS NO Waypoints NO Streetlights Ace weight/tiring system Ace Medical treatment (dr's only and need the right supplies) Reality off: Put back in streetlights Put back in the freaking food variety Start being a little more relaxed with Campy ideas... maybe even do a third level of "Campy" that is teeming with easter eggs. This could clearly be thought out in greater detail but I think there are so many different play styles but even among all those styles TWO TOTALLY different schools of thought regarding immersion/realism... I got to be frank, there is SOOOOO little in the way of actually being able to make the game ultra real as it stands. I don't get why people pretend they can argue the merits of one thing being more realistic than another... I've had someone give me a litany of reasons that GPS should stop working... after they finally talked themselves out about satellites falling etc, I pointed out that GPS is the US system and NONE of the DayZ maps are in the US so: 1. US might be fine and GPS is running great 2. The lack of a Glosnass system in game is ludicrous and unrealisitc... People get too emotionally involved in their games and start pretending that it's real when it's not and it's not even set up to be very realistic... I could blood bag myself... but I sure as shit wouldn't be able to tell what kind of blood I'm putting in my veins unless the bags are marked and I know my type... which I don't. Hell for the ultra real setting there should be testing centers where you have to actually prove your physical fitness and stamina. lol... I'll take your immersion and drown you in it G'demmit.

    Oh and for the record this will be a patch right? because I won't run it. Come play with us if you want food/drink variety and not catering to overly needy internet whine bags... or scraping hard work by actual Devs who I'm guessing were told to "go with it" and did and now have to "go back to it" lol... You modeler dude! I will not scrap your work and will give you CLEAR instruction as to what models I want worked on and how they should look/feel... I will be available to YOU the developer NOT the squaking children of Reddit how are more than likely WATCHING the game getting played/worked on instead of actually DOING anything.

    Well barring SEVERE protest by 2 remaining members of the dev Team... DayZ Sahrani's next release will include these food items and NEVER EVER remove them.... and we're not on these forums much nor are we fan boys lol... I've actually bitched at one of the named Mods in a PM convo... Further I will take no action on my Gamerservers.com PUblic Hive Server to remove the items I updated before the uproar so hopefully that just means they stick. So barring it being rolled into a future patch that I HAVE to run (Quivers and no infinite ammo for DMR's were my only major gripes at this point) so I will likely avoid future updates if this decision (or lack there of) sticks. So Cifor US NY 2873 public hive server will NOT remove these if it's in the form of a new patch. AND DayZ Sahrani will likely have all these food items in the next and all future releases. Let them eat ModCake!

    Everyone tries to pretend the game is soooo real... it's just not. there have been 100 MUCH bigger "immersion breakers" than the F'ing names of foods that no one is bitching about... I literally think this is just Reddit being mad that their EXACT suggestions weren't followed to a tee as if they are seriously contributing by filling out polls... Dean Hall has put WAY WAY WAY too much power in the hands of the non-contributing community to bully him around... on both sides... At the point that some poor dude spent all this time modeling this stuff FOR NOTHING now because Dean was too busy to give a quick list of OK'd names back then, and too much of a puss to stick to his guns now, they might get dumped permanently? HORSESHIT.

    That's funny cuz I'm part of one and there are 5 contributing members... so those are the opinions that I give a shit about... Of course I want players to be happy as well... but I'm not going to F over my own developers or mods of forums that help us, to satiate some power trip having D-bags who thing they roll with posse because they're on Reddit... especially over something so Freaking dumb. You literally have to strain your eyes to even read the names on the cans in game.. and they're all brand appropriate. and certainly better than generic russian lettering... You ralize not all maps that use the dayz code are cherno russian right?

    What? Reddit members and players don't make the game. "community project" implies a community of developers and testers, not casual players who spend more time watching youtube vidoes and endlessly debating really F'ing pointless shit to do with the game instead of MAKING IT... Trust me, even being a crappy member of a dev team means you have ZERO time to play or enjoy the game, and you have to work your tits off to all hours of the night in order to deliver something for OTHER people to play and enjoy... And to top it off the cans ALL LOOK FINE.. it's MORE dif. loot.. why would ANYONE complain about that??? Well since you know all the rules about making mods and maps, you should totally never come back on here or post about dayz and make your own mod. It can be as realistic as you want it to be and you don't have to deal with the pesky changes that the people WHO ACTUALLY WORK on the game make... How people are complaining about this but not the fact that you can drop waypoints on a map and run towards a magical arrow/distance marker in the sky is beyond me... GPS up and running? No problem, Helicpoters crashing almost a year after "day z" and no worries what so ever... Zombies that can't run inside? Uncrossable bridges/damns? Hell till a couple weeks ago zombies didn't spawn much less attack you if you were in a vehicle... NO PROBLEM. Put someone who's contributed to the game/community's name on a can that you have to strain your eyes to read... HELL FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Lol some community project.. a bunch of couch monkeys on reddit are whining about the actual community members getting credit... then the people who RUN the project actually cave in to external pressures instead of sticking to their guns and giving credit where credit is due.   12. It should tell you what version you're running and what version the server is running. If not when you get bounced back to the Arma Multiplayer menu you should see version numbers there. DayZHorror.com's mod's are very helpful too.

  14. we are not releasing the .2 server files publicly. A future version will be made public for the server side. We have plans to change the map/game pretty drastically over the next month or two so it's kind of pointless to release until we have a more solid base of THAT build... not just rush out a functioning dayz port of the map sahrani... which is what it is now (with some added buildings, weapons, vehicles, AND game mechanics)... but it's no where near as far as we are going to take it. So for now it seems like the best choice to have it only released on the client side. This will change long term, it will be a public map/project.

  16. This is not our reason for not putting it out to DayZ Commander... I will leave it at that I suppose, Our current "map" does not hold any major bugs Problems with the 3rd party launchers are also nothing to do with the map devs or the server hosts either... DayZ commander I believe updated and had some issues with calling even the normal dayz mod properly.. or maybe it was problems calling any OTHER mods that they already support... I'm not sure... but it's my understanding that was fixed in a patch quickly or could be fixed by some user intervention the whole time? that's just not where my/the dev teams focus is. If you have made a launcher and it's getting you into the Sahrani Launch screen then any problems from there out are either with client side or server side versions... Dev team is working on a unified installer that should just drop a shortcut on your desktop for a quick/painless option moving forward. Our focus is making this map port something very special and different. and releasing the server side publicly on an update to update basis would likely compromise our ability to test lots of factors and keep lots of other factors close to our chest till the public release... Right now the closed test really needs some tuning up and we are working on both sides to make sure that is what happens.... We are sorry for the problems in the interim but long term this WILL make for a much better launch and map for players and hosts alike.   17. We are doing a closed test of the server files right now and only making the client side public. There will be 1 or 2 updates in this closed test. Then we will release the server and client files publicly. Just trying to get bug testing and server loads as well tested as possible before it's out in the wild so to speak. There are some odd glitches people are reporting on the live test server but nothing too crazy. We hope to get the majority of those glitches either ironed out with patches to .2 or in the next major update which we for see about 3 MAYBE 4 weeks out.. it's going to be a VERY large jump in customization on lots of levels.
  18. For those using DayZ Commander, there was an update to that, which has caused problems launching Sahrani, however I believe there has already been an update that fixes the problem. However I can not confirm that 100pct. We are working on a unified installer for our package so it will create a shortcut launcher icon on your desktop for sake of ease...

I don't get your point on DayZDB. 1 Anyone who's ever played one game knows what buildings to look for on a map for high/medium/low yield of any various type, generally hospitals and gas stations are already marked on the map, and it lets you not alt tab out... The ONLY thing I think that makes it kind of weak is the vehicle spawn points but believe me that WON'T be a problem for us. there will be no point/will impossible to put the vehicles on there for our "map". And we're not making just another "DayZ Map" we have LOTs of plans for mechanics, features, content, that no one has done before and lots that we have a new take on... so it's not just porting the map... that's done. We want to build something memorable that people will be shocked and surprised by more often than they expect. We are also a 5 man team at this stage, so HOP IN if you want to hurry things along! Casting call will likely be put out officially on all the forums next week... We need 3d Modelers, texture folks, graphic artists, coders, and wouldn't mind a video/media focused member... Right now we are finalizing the list of things to make it in for the next big update. And believe me we WON'T have time to do everything we want for the next release. Much less actually get everything we want done for the official release done any quicker than that without a LOT of additions to the team.
  23. Our goals are big, and we want to ensure that we don't launch it when it's not ready for prime time. When you see the list of features that the full release will have, you WILL understand why we're doing it this way. We REALLY want to get it out there but it has to be done RIGHT. There are going to be A LOT of surprises in our next public client update which we will be finalizing our goals for beginning of this week and shooting for a fully tested public client release in about one month.... and this will NOT be the final version. After that there should be ONE more closed test server update with a public client release. THEN we will finalize our public server package and release it to server hosts/admins and start pushing for DayZCommander listing... Frankly I would like to be approached by all 3 installers prior to launching. In an ideal world I'd like to see a DayZDB loot map up and ready to launch ALL on the same day... If not we have contingency plans to ensure on launch users have a usable web map, and a simple install method.

  25. There is a server up and running now, although believe the spawn bug is still happening. We are looking at it and should hopefully have it fixed within the next few hours for good.
