Teenagers from Finland made me feel old
philbottle replied to philbottle's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Dark Star. 30 minute load time. Needed to be reloaded after losing a life (or maybe that's where my 'transformer' started to overheat). Funny how memory deceives us with size of things, but then in my class it was war between commodore and spectrum owners. Generally ended by commodore being granted 'best graphics' (lol) and spectrum best 'gameplay'. 'Way of the exploding fist' and my first ever experience of 'Gauntlet'. Great days...because we didn't know any better. -

The massive rubber keys on the ZX Spectrum would go down a treat. -

One of the lads I was chatting to told me his dad was 37 and still owned a C64. With a working joystick....I also was not a Spectrum owner, Commodore all the way! At school with a BBC micro learning to write programmes in BASIC. And games for 1.99. Pioneers damn right! -

By saying 'crikey' he's revealing our age. Used to find it a lot in England. Last refuge probably the Beano lol -

DayZ Developer Blog 8th March

To be honest I was of the opinion that they were working on client server stuff (like my technical jargon eh); maybe there's just not that much to report back on. And from my point of view it would also be nice to discover a few surprises come the SA release. -
Has anyone had this issue.. or could it be a hacker..?
philbottle replied to milkeyuk's topic in New Player Discussion
It also happens on a railway bridge in Namalsk, I've been silly enough to let it happen to me twice. Only other time for me was a script twat and his shenanigans. :| -
Footprints on the ground- Dayz Standalone feature suggestion
philbottle replied to Pokerguy12's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As everyone says, not really possible but nice idea. If they can do that then maybe they should add a sense of smell too. Like a vapour trail lol I've not come across any deodorants in Chernaus as of yet... -

I humbly request a grave side vigil beside Thatcher's last resting place. Hope she don't come back as a zed but it's be a good location for the next devblog. I'll be the guy pissing in the background with a hatchet at the ready.. She was undead already, rather than infected. -
question about the mod...should i buy it now???
philbottle replied to sushi4breakfast7's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I went for Dayz at the end of October even though I was expecting the SA in December. It was a great decision and I'm still playing 5 months later. -

Glassing people is pretty low, don't believe in karma but kind of wish it sometimes and that guy got it good lol. Matt, see how the thread is now starting to turn violent? Blood on your hands my son. Heh heh. edit: forgot me smiley :D -

Don't forget some like to break their glass onto other people's noggins. That's why mine are all plastic. Is it still a glass though if it's plastic? I'm feeling the time space continuum unravelling all around us. -

The devblog is currently with Saatchi and Saatchi awaiting final touches. It just won't have anything to do with DayZ, they're promoting a scent called 'Survival' ....because BI have decided to diversify. Bastards  -

Generalising about people in the community or on the forums is not an endearing trait. If someone wants to be treated with respect they should bear this in mind and behave accordingly. But I take your point Mr O. -

Who needs a standalone when you have a mod like DayZ  thanks to the guys working on this! Can't wait to (find a flippin sniper rifle) try it out but I love the prospect of wind and appropriate sound changes, awesome!

The responses to this post show just what a great community this is. So long as I get in before the trolling begins... As an extra bit of advice, go for DayZ Commander, it's a good interface to access to all the maps/content available.

Funny, I'm usually quite patient but the lack of a direct update to the community does leave a lot to be desired. It's been nearly a month and I'm feeling unloved. Still haven't digested everything from PAX but lately I find I'm an update whore. Still learning about oneself, interesting... Maybe I should read the forum less (something about sleeping with dogs and catching fleas). Saw a tweet from Dean saying he was doing a devblog on his journey to the abyss, em I mean, to the unnaturally large hills, but nothing has appeared yet. Lets hope a huey spawns on top of everest (with fuel, please say it has fuel) so he can get back extra quick. Random thoughts :D -
Where's my manners....welcome to DayZ mate, you're going to have blast :D
-
Just for driving practice and flying helis I'd recommend spending some time in the Arma tutorials. It'll save you a lot of frustration when you finally find (and crash) one.

Smash, you flippin rock mate. Now glad i woke up early! -
That's pretty damn rude. 5 minutes on the forums and you'll see they spend a ridiculous amount of time having to respond to ridiculous posts made by (insert offensive term here), sod it, posts made by what appears to be fuckwits. And I'm in a good mood today :D
