From what I understand the SA will be almost a different game in some respects. New UI etc. I've been playing the Mod for less than two months and I've had a lot of fun so far, there's always a different and usually memorable experience each time I play. Personally, I'd recommend it. Bosh.

Should have had my first kill last night. Only shot the guy because he was clearly unfriendly and coming for me. Wookied-up too. Unloaded my Bizon SD into him and he just ran out of the buidling we were in. He and came back and destroyed the wall I had my back to. Chased me for a bit before (and I can't remember now how I died, damn memory) I logged out. That's a moral kill in my book (mens rea and all that) if not an actual kill. Yay or nay?

To follow this point I would look at the positives from the War Zzzz experience, a lot can be learned from their mistakes (not that it was needed) ......and maybe that's about all.

I use one character in a private hive with lots of loot etc where I stay hidden a lot I use another in a public server where I'm less cautious but lucky so far.... 6 weeks on and I'm yet to kill or be killed by another survivor. Am I missing out?

In a bid to avoid zeds I crawled into a barn the other day just outside Gorka. My legs broke upon crossing the threshold. Instead of crying I though of the possible options: Call for help in side chat. Someone comes, shoots me and loots me Call for help in sidechat Someone comes, loots me and leaves me without helping, helpless on the ground Don't call for help Get used to the floor for a while What actually happened: Call for help in sidechat Someone comes in their UAZ, finds me (took a while and I was passing out) heals me, gives me a ride too. Anything can happen, good or bad, its all part of the experience. Kind of why I like the game so much. But cheers for the feedback, now I'm wary of ladders too lol

lol that must happen a lot! I'm a month in, yet to kill or be killed by another player. Mixture of luck and caution. I've just jinxed myself I know.

I've been playing a little over a month but I've put quite a few hours into DayZ during that time. I have yet to kill another player and I have yet to be killed by another player. I've been damn lucky. I've had OP admins chasing me in helicopters, I've had guys typing 'friend ' and then trying to kill me, I've had a hacker spawn next to me and demand a ride in my betty van. But I've met met lots of friendlies and traded goods, the betty van was a present from another player, I've been given lifts...etc etc I survive sometimes by just staying away from towns and by engaging people in chat long before I meet them, there's a way of eliciting people's true intentions if you're clever. Howevwer, when I log into DayZ later I will probably get murdered now that I've tempted lady fate. I love this fecking game.

Whether this was a troll or not, what can't be denied is the uniform positive and unselfish response to someone in need. Win in my book.

Ok, so my experiences after a month on DayZ. Please excuse my french but I fucking love the game. My first month's experiences: I have only died by stupidity or by zed. By entrering a server and saying 'hi' I have made me a lot of friends. Trustworthy or otherwise, you guys are a funny and friendly lot. Friendly and helpful. The human race need not despair, there's enough of us with that 'can do' spirit that not even the nazis mentality is able to destroy. I'm drunk; happy new beer and a million thanks x

War Z is shite. Bought it in October, and I know about reget (better to regret something you haven't done than someting you have) but really its a poor imitation pile of wank. Spawn and die within 15 seconds. Poor graphics. Unfriendly community of embarrassing arseholes. There seems ot be a 40 point I.Q.gap between players of Dayz and WarZ (the upper percentile will understand that lol) Personally I'm with Bakunin, the destructive urge is the creative urge, we will build upon the ashes of the capatalist monster lolololol x i hope still drunk lol happy new fear

A bit deeper than that, possibilities are endless. BTW I think using the word 'novel' was a mistake, clearly lol

I only have one for now, and it's probably a little late in the day. How about a novel way of beginning the standalone? Maybe start the game with a brief single player mode which allows a back story that you have some sort of control over (moral/physical choices etc). This mode could also determine the area of the map you spwan in for the' real game' and maybe also determine the equipment/resources you begin with. Again, all detemined by the choices you make. Great thread by the way.

All good advice. I've been playing barely a month and love the game. So far I have only died through zombie or stupidity. Tempting fate here but I am yet to be player killed or indeed be a player killer. Like Fraggle says, its good to try and get a handle on the game solo to begin with. Try sending a message saying 'hi' when you join a server, many people are very friendly and will often help out for advice. But watch you back at all times, use your commom sense...and good luck!
