I'd like to see darker spots in buildings added to DayZ. I'm not talking about little corners but rooms where there is low visibility or being pitch black even in the middle of the day. This room could be a basement where it is very dark and a player would have to use their flashlight in order to properly navigate through old furniture or shelves. Maybe even small houses that have had its windows boarded up to keep Zeds away will block sunlight and leave the building very dim. If this could be implemented then maybe larger buildings like hotels could have the same effect naturally in the hallway especially if people decide to close all the doors of the rooms. Hopefully giving players a little more suspense when looting :)

Dog tags are a great way to identify dead ppl but in dayz people arent soldiers, so why not have wallets with i.d.s. Starter item like the flashlight, for newcomers a cool thing to open and look at. Your D.O.B would be hours alive and you can customize your wallet from synthetic fibers to leather. You can write little notes and keep them in your wallet. others can take your wallets making it, like in the real world, impossible to start or a drive a car. I guess you can put money in your wallet (moneys only being used to start a camp fire faster). tell me what you think if you like this idea checkout my other ideas and dont forget to like comment and subscribe: http://dayzmod.com/f...in-unique-ways/ http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/104695-a-different-take-on-trains/

For those tl;dr my idea is loot should leave an imprint when picked because they’re dusty. After frolicking from town to town I got pretty sick and tired of not knowing if the town’s local supermarket or buildings were already looted or if the items still hadn’t spawned. So I thought, this is a zombie apocalypse, the fall of civilization has to of been at least been a couple months ago from the look of things, items laying on the floor should of at least collected some dust. So this is where my idea comes in, I propose that when loot has been taken off the floor it should leave that clean imprint dusty things leave when you pick up a book from my book shelf. I’m not saying it should leave an exact imprint of what that item was but leave some sort of imprint to indicate items have already spawned and have already been taken. So what do you think? Like it or did you love it? why not have a slow(but not too slow well kinda slow) moving self operated train in Chernarus, that follows the already existing tracks that go from kamenka to berezino. Boarding the moving train would be risky as it is in real life, if you dont time it right you could be caught by the wheels and break your legs. ummm... have you seen pictures of India or Mexico people ride these things like taxis. This is an alternative to walking long miles along the coast and doesnt decrease the value of cars as the train doesnt go into northern cities. Adds another potential pvp hotspot bandits can pick off ppl riding the train (wow this suggestion has it all). tell me what you think and if you like this idea checkout my other ideas and dont forget to like comment and subscribe. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/104684-wallets-add-to-the-immersion/ http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/100974-using-empty-whisky-bottles-and-tin-cans-in-unique-ways/

Pictures coming soon. Cherno was the largest most densely populated city in Chernarus, so it stands to reason that it would’ve had a strip club in its heyday. Fast forward to present day the strip club is now a rundown poorly lit building that survivors can raid for supplies. The only thing standing in their way would be the strippers and the patrons that died there during the virus outbreak. Imagine walking in and the first thing you see is the starving zombie cage dancers trapped in their cages, wouldn’t that be cool? (Now I know that cage dancers are only in clubs but let’s just say this strip club had cage dancers) The strip club spawns would include pistols, food, lotions, tissues, and those small balloons you can buy in the bathroom that say Trojan on the wrapper. This is in no way front so that scantily clad female models make it into the game, it’s just an idea I had to make the towns feel more organic. oh ok, thanks for the info and by all means start the new thread(i'll try not to hate you too much for stealing my thunder), you seem to know more about how the game work.

I had a mini brainstorm to try and think of a way do display if items had already spawned and this seemed to be the only way to display this in a very subtle way without breaking the immersion. Would it really be that graphically intense to show dust on the floor?

Crowbar, useful in scavenging parts from wrecked vehicles.
flayer0 replied to dirtylemur's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
great idea. I never liked how 90% the cars in chernarus were exploded/wrecked for no apparent reason(at least in my mind). Having this would explain why the cars in chenarus are undriveable, the players before you looted them for parts. -
With the debug monitor gone, wallets could be a good away to track humanity. Either by collecting ids or having the game automatically record kills on a piece of paper with hash marks. There should be a hotkey to open your wallet and have everything be displayed all at once (much like it is now when you open your gear) so it won’t be that bothersome for players to check it. Also works as good way to show other people your humanity.

ok we get it you dont have to keep repeating yourself buddy

now you're just being silly

thanks for the feedback

i thought you were walking away from my so called bad idea but i see you came crawling back. Wow my first brony on the thread and here I thought I was the only…*clears throat* people getting mad upon losing their wallets should not be considered a negative aspect for this idea, using this logic i can say the same thing for why diaries shouldn't be implemented.

Suggestions for potential items to help increase realism
flayer0 replied to Vector636's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
how about no...jk I really like the idea of a hands free flashlight and extra pouches -
plz, only post constructive criticism, thank you

its good to see that people actually do want pointless trinkets incorporated into the standalone. and thanks for fending off that bully
-
why dont you shut up and leave my thread...jk i see where you're coming from, "small and meaningless" i wanted wallets to become a way for people to become more attached to their players, its an optional item you can use, it wont take away any of the magic that is dayz if you dont use it
-
glad you liked it, this first started as a joke if you can believe it

i thought the following spam post was him adding on to his first post

i really like you what you have here, a simple way of adding depth to the game without changing how its played very genius

Using empty whisky bottles and tin cans in unique ways
flayer0 posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
After finding nothing but empty whisky bottles and tin cans in chenro i got frustrated and thought why isnt their a use for these items. Here are two simple ways i thought these items can be used. Whisky bottles: Crushed glass Players could crush the bottle and spread the glass shards on the floor. Anyone who steps on the shards will make a loud crushing noise that will alert players and zombies that are in close proximity. No harm will come to the player when stepping or crawling on the glass and it would be possible to vault over the glass if spotted. This idea of makeing noise when steping on shartered glass can be implamented at the hospital, as it requires you to shoot the glass windows to get in. (I havnt decide on whether you can hear players crushing bottles tell me what you think) Tin Cans: String them up to make a noise trap Makeing a noise trap with empty soda bottles is nothing new, outwoods men and campers have always used them so why not implament it to dayz. To make this simple trap all you need a couple of tin cans and string. Finding tin cans is easy but where am i going to find string you say, well i got that covered. With bows rumored to be in the standalone, it would most likely be very common and a good start up weapon for new and recently killed players. After finding a gun players who dont want to drop there bow just to have another player pick it up and kill them with it can have the option to unstring their bow. Being required to find and use string from bows instead of having string a spawn item found in loot piles lessens the chance of this trap being spamed on every square inch of cherno and elcetro. So what do think: good ideas or are they just annoying? -
^ its a suggestion you dont have to if you dont want to but it really helps. joking aside thanks for the feedback
