    Wut? :huh: His brother, a virologist, would provide the backboard for discussions about plausible reasons for a zombie outbreak, if one ever reared its head. Both looked to behavior-changing viruses as a real possibility. Rabies, for one, and obscure diseases covered by National Geographic which, if mutated, would change an animal drastically. In the Brazilian rainforest carpenter ants have been found infected with a fungus that manipulates their brain and puts them in a zombie-like state.     The Z stands for zero afaik...as in the first day of the apocalypse. The same way patient zero refers to the host of the epidemic. Dean has said numerous times that he regards the "zombies" as infected, even going so far as to discussing the plausibility of such an outbreak with his brother the virologist. I sincerely doubt he'd have dubbed the game something as juvenile as DayZombie.. I hope he wouldn't be that lame anyway...

    Assumption. Not saying you're wrong, but you can't imply the op was wrong either... Pointless argument really when I maintain this "final sprint" included the re-working of the zeds.

    I saw the video alright but he definitely mentioned that it wasn't guaranteed, either in location or actual inclusion, around that time.

  10. I know that mate, and I agree with the sentiment, but the fact is we don't know how it's going to turn out. Almost 2 million people have either purchased Arma 2 or simply downloaded the mod in order to play the game as it currently is, broken/non-existent zombies and all. I'm just making the point that although the game is labelled as a "zombie survival" game, in the grand scheme of things, the zombies currently have little bearing on the success of the game.
  11. I have to laugh every time I hear this. Although superficially you have a point, people don't play DayZ for the zombies... The zombies have been the biggest source of controversy ever since the mod was launched. The majority of the player base hate them. They're shit and completely broken, yet the game is still extremely popular. It's the human interaction that makes the game special..not the zombies. **Disclaimer** - I'm not saying I want, nor expect the game to be released without zeds, but in fairness you're throwing your toys out of the pram over a "non-feature"; "minor annoyance" is the preferred term I think. Again this isn't about how the game should or could be, simply how it is in it's current iteration; you know, the one that got so popular a standalone version was ordered?
  12. Hence the tiered "minecraft" priceplan. There's a reason why early adopters get the game for cheaper - not because they're uber fans who've been f5'ing this thread since last December, but because they're acknowledging that the product is not complete and also not representative of the final product; hence why it's not worth 50 bucks...
  13. The whole point of an open alpha test is to test though right? If they decided they needed to stress test the core functionality without extra variables (in this case zombies), then what of it? The same can be said for weapons.. I think people are expecting a retail release and really need to lower their expectations.

  15. Then you completely fail to understand the fundamentals of game development. The order in which tasks are completed are not necessarily dependent on priority. It's only common sense that "small" features such as crafting and weapon attachments should take less time...Hence their inclusion and focus during past devblogs. The zombie AI could not be worked on (beyond what was initially done with the improved pathfinding) until the network issues were solved and tested. That's a fact whether you like it or not...
  16. So has the whole of Bethesda's back-catalogue (Skyrim, Fallout, etc.) and a plethora of other top AAA titles... What's your point? :huh: Development of both Arma 3 and DayZ will continue well beyond "release".

You seem like you'd be genuinely upset if the game was released in a week or two.. :lol: -Leon- on the other hand is an enigma; he openly hates the developers and laughs off any progress the game has made thus far, yet consistantly lurks the forums liking any post that contains even the slightest bit of dissent..     No you can't. And I really hope the vaulting animation will only work when in proximity of an obstacle. "Bunny-hopping" is the epitome of arcade gameplay and completely ruins immersion.
