  1. This has taken about 6 months since they decided to actually start from scratch, as opposed to releasing a "mod on steroids"
  2. The reality is, that neither you nor I know what will happen. All we can go is trust Dean's judgement and wait it out.
  3. That was originally the case. However things have since changed. One of the main reasons for the delay was that Dean has said he wants the launch to go as smoothly as possible. I'm sure he's well aware of potential worst case scenarios. We'd be playing the game right now if he wasn't
  4. In all fairness the whole point of an "alpha" is to sort out bugs within the basic foundation. People that buy into it thinking they'll have hours upon hours of fun with it day one are deluded. In reality it'll more than likely be hours upon hours of frustration, whilst communicating respectfully via the forums/bug tracker/etc. In other words - there's no point in bitching if it doesn't play how you want it or how you expect it to be; we'll only get to that point with feedback and patience.
  5. Not sure where you've pulled that from but anyway..What I want to know is if the whole streamer's only alpha phase is still happening? I could have sworn I read somewhere that that was scrapped but going off various soundbytes from Sacriel et all, it's still planned. Surely when/if a playable version (deemed acceptable enough to be openly streamed) is released, we won't be looking at more than a week or two after for general release? Does anyone know if that's still the plan or not?
  6. http://www.reddit.co...zzed_i_said_we/ Bit of recent chatter from the man himself relating somewhat to what's been discussed on the past couple of pages. When asked if the 1 week (post E3) to 2 months' statement still stands. He replied *Updated with any new information to save people from trawling through that Reddit link.

It's an alpha.. The sole purpose of said title being that of finding and fixing bugs. The last thing Dean (or any of us) needs is an influx of kids complaining/raging about missing content, bugs, etc. It makes perfect sense. If it was up to me however, I would have stuck to the limited key release for this very reason. The whining and misinterpretation of what an alpha should actually be is inevitable. I'm dreading it tbh.

Oh, you were being serious  Whilst you make a valid point, it also adds more variance to gameplay, promotes team work (building bases) and provides more of an incentive to explore (looking for bases). The same argument can be made for tents and stockpiling gear as it's been in the mod. Not that many people have been up in arms over that either tho. If someone decides to put the time and effort into constructing a base and protecting it, more power to them I say.. The more gameplay options the better I say!

You only have to look at the comments on the youtube video itself to see how many people have issues with basic comprehension. Making a note of it here won't change that I'm afraid, although it wouldn't hurt.

Radio this, radios that. Ffs. There's like a 20m range on them :| Chernarus is 225km2. Are you really insinuating that a feature (that isn't even set in stone, as Rocket has quite clearly said a lot of thing are subject to change depending on feedback) that'll you'l perhaps come across in a blue moon is gamebreaking? People will find anything to complain about, or at least nitpick on one possible (and completely subjective) issue that apparently negates all the positive things you've heard? Gone are the days when people had no say/inside track in the development of games and you'd no idea (for the most part) what was in them until you shelled out full retail price..

Steam sales are rumored to begin on Wednesday. Possible silent DayZ rollout at some point during the 2 weeks??!! [/hope] [/speculation] http://uk.gamespot.c...ve-beta-6410618

Again, as people mentioned, I'm sure it'll be quite difficult to actually find and sustain a working radio (what with the battery requirements and whatnot) so I doubt it'll be that much of an issue. However, I do agree with your comment about the broadcast in the demonstration not sounding like it's being emitted from a radio. Hopefully the demo, was just that, and that feedback or interference wil lbe added to improve immersion. As I said, it'd literally take 5 minutes to create a working solution in an open-source audio programming environment such as Pure Data

I don't see why they wouldn't run the feed through a filter before being output in the gameworld. It would be the easiest thing to create a patch in Pure Data for said purpose, which is then easily embedded into the engine.
