Np mate and just to be clear, my comments weren't aimed at you; rather at people who are so quick to jump on Dean for such a non story.. There are those that look for any opportunity to have a go and tbh it's incredibly boring.. Nobody wants to hear about how Dean violated your trust or any other creepy analogies. At the end of the day it's Dean's livelihood on the line, not ours.. It's just a game to us.

Mate, I understand how you feel and of course we're all passionate about the game or else we wouldn't be here. Fact of the matter is, you're getting too caught up on Dean's words. For all you know "When it's ready" could be a couple of hours. It's not going to take 15 days to do up a devblog... People are wound up so tight they'll over react to anything.

Because it's 7pm on a Friday evening? IIRC previous devblogs have been released close to and after midnight both on Fridays and Sundays in the past.. It's quite obvious that some people are never going to be happy though. The same people that are convinced the devblog isn't going to come will find something in it to bitch about when it does..

I have no idea what he's mad at though? :huh: All Dean did was answer some guys question on reddit. How he somehow deciphered that as "I lied again, the dev blog will not come this week", is completely beyond me...

Explain what you mean by "passive consumer". *Also you failed to address the key point of my post, please show me where Dean has said the devblog isn't coming "this week".

It's a dev blog ffs, it's going to take a couple of hours to put together at the most and he's already said he's working on it... Jesus Christ, the way some of you carry on is embarrassing and extremely childish. You're acting like he's delaying the dev blog on purpose, which in turn is delaying the actually release of the game. He never once said it won't come this week, and I fully expect it to be released within that timeframe..It's still Friday evening last time I checked. But feel free to throw all your toys out of the pram regardless :rolleyes:

Wow. Seems like some people got awful butthurt over my comment :lol: The point I was trying to make, was aimed at those that are inevitably going to flip out when the alpha is released and the zombies aren't "friggen amazing". People seem to forget that DayZ was never meant to be a traditional "zombie" game, nor should it strive to be. It was a social experiment, simple as. In fact if you look at interviews with Dean he makes sure to mention that the antagonist could have been anything from dinosaurs to aliens; he just so happened to choose the "infected". The game at its core is about player interaction, not "zombies", so why people treat them with such importance and claim that they'll make or break the game is beyond me. Of course they're important, as without them you're just dumping players into a massive sandbox with limited (just going off the mod here) tools, but again, they are not the focus. There are plenty of other games that are pure zombie fps's, so if that's what you're looking for, feel free to jump on them. BUT imo, DayZ never was, nor will it be just another zombie game. Out of all the incredible experiences people have had since the mod first hit, I sincerely doubt ANY of them were dependent on zombies.. The sole reason I referenced WarZ was because, regardless of how predictable and monotonous their zombies are, people continue to play the game and it doesn't even have half the content that DayZ mod has..

Nail on the head, so any speculation otherwise is just a waste of time and will cause more problems than it solves. I don't think there will EVER be a release date (publicly anyway), one day someone will just stumble upon the Alpha in the Greenlight section of Steam. There won't be any warning.

I've learned to associate such quips as being part of Rocket's over-enthusiastic spate of comments for which he's since apologised for and promised not to do again. All I'm getting at is that there's no point getting people's hopes up or spreading mis-information with this 21st of August nonsense. Doesn't do the community any good.

I fail to see how that indicates in anyway a public release though :huh: Many games are showcased at conventions, doesn't mean the game is ready for public consumption...

That's nowt to do with rocket though, again it's more baseless speculation. It's getting quite boring.

All Dean has ever said about Gamescom is that he hopes to have a playable build ready, otherwise it'll be "a very painful experience" for him. I don't think it has any bearing on release whatsoever. As mentioned, the dev blog will give us a clearer indication as to where they're at in terms of that milestone, so hopefully that comes this week. Dean has been quite quiet on reddit both yesterday and today, which is a break in his constant communication during the past 2 weeks or so. To me, that points towards him working on the dev blog.

Also, where are you getting this 21st of August crap from? I'm so confused :| Your post is a paradox
