    Bad game design again...why not thinking of ways to make night time gameplay more interesting and also rewarding. In the mod the infected could not see shit at night and also did not react to torchlights, so you could sneak through complete hordes, which was absolutely scary and fun. Also there were these oil barrels placed in cities which players could ignite during night time which also was immersive af. Another cool thing would be implementing a handful of working streetlamps for the smaller towns , which could be activated by players but should of course be very unstable, flickering and working just for a small random time... To spice things up there could be special events like heli crashes and air drops but not in the middle of nowhere but inside the major cities.... Last not least ...forget about idiots exploiting gamma and brightness, we already had beautiful nights working !!!! These are just random thoughts but everything I described above except the special events, we had working in the mod or during EA of the SA.

    Exactly this is why I am relatively happy with the hunger/food/nutrition system as ist is now. It is mabye not perfect but the ballance between having to eat constantly but finding a lot of food items is fine now, especially taking time acceleration into account. All we need now is a proper ballance between hunger and thirst mechanics..something like DefectiveWater suggested. I agree though that it feels more of a grind mechanic and I also agree that after a while, once one has geared up completely, survival is getting too easy. But this is another story right now the absolute basic things still need tweaking..

    That's right but if we are talking gameplay/survival mechanics then it should be clear that staying hydrated by constantly eating fruits and vegetables completely counters the thirst/hydration gameplay loop.This includes not only the need of water but also the need of finding purification tabs, canteens or plastic bottles.....so if we keep the hydration amount of food for the sake of realism but also want a proper ballance between hunger and thirst mechanics, we have to make sure the hydration level goes down a bit faster than now. I am playing now for about 9 hours with my current char and all I had on liquids was 2 or 3 cans of Kvass and Spite, seeing my thirst level never leaving the white icon.

    Honestly I really like the patch, this is going in the right direction 🙂 The heavy melee weapons should get a tweak though as many suggested. But what I really would love to see is unarmed melee making no damage at all to zeds but give you only some space to escape by pushing them back or down to the ground. The stealth and aggro mechanics ( zed sences) are a lot better now ! To see infected loosing interest and wandering off was amazing when tested !! The icing on the cake would be a small chance of getting a really bad infection if getting to close to the infected. Oh and some more infected are always welcome xD. As far as it goes for nutrition and hydration, I also like the changes made in the last two patches, it is still a bit hillarious to have to eat constantly but well I personally can live with the way it is right now. The hydration though, still makes no sense...there is still no need to drink water at all as long as you are eating constantly....please lower the amount of hydration from eating fruits and stuff, this will looking for fresg water more important again! I really hope this patch stands for the direction you are going now but I fear the majority of casual and PVP gameplay orientated players will not like it... cheers PS: fighting zeds using melee should be mainly a last way out or a stealth option , or maybe to kill a single stray otherwise it should ring the dinner bell as it should do pew pew

    What I find even worse is the hillarious starter gear and clothing. What was wrong about jeans and shirt?? Beside the fact that nobody would ever wear such clothes in automn (or at all) it is simply NO fun to look at your toon. Why not giving us at least the choice between a few basic civilian clothes ??? For fucks sake I am not even talking about rollplay choices which today is in as good as every survival game on the damned market. Same goes for the starter gear...but yeah they will not change such things anyway....

    The game died with Brian Hicks being gone....me and my friends are still talking about all the epic and cool and funny adventures and stories we had in dayZ...but all of these stories happened long before version. 1.0 the most even when playing the mod and not only that, the playerbase and community has changend nearly completely too...and not to the better....

    And again this is just a whole bunch of hot air... Bringing in more weapons, especially firearms does not hurt but is not a thing that is really needed. Contaminated zones is also nothing new...it is of course an awesome feature but yeah it has been announced and shown to us 4 or 5 years ago. Infected AI and Infected spawn systems has been a pain in the behind since the very start, so thank you for improving it after all these years...Bugfixes...if bugfixing and ballancing are part of a roadmap then we know that there is not really that much on the horizon to be excited for. NO WORD about progress being made on the Enfusion Engine...Nothing about the one and only thing that really matters right now...server performance /physics...No word on new vehicles....No word about the shitty lighting .... New content will be new guns and gear like Hazmat Suits/Gear and Decontamination Showers etc. I guess...stuff that has already been made for Arma3 Contact expansion like Livonia.....not a bad thing but well...

    There is no need for such an animation..the way vehicles function in the game right now, they should consider adding ejection seats and para animations instead.

    Things have beens...different here since the very beginning... Dean Hall prefered to discuss things on Reddit at the very beginning but Lead Artist Chris Torchia and also Matt Lightfoot were very active here on the forums. Things got so much better and organized then with Brian Hicks, providing Trello, Dev Blogs and also being active on the forums and social media in general. Not to forget at that time devs were also actively playing the game...communicating with the playerbase..This time was also DayZ's prime time on YT. With Brian Hicks gone most of the Devblogs were just about " please be patient the future of DayZ will be amazing once the new engine is completely implemented". Finally with the massive shitstorm after releasing V. 1.0 two years ago, BI went more or less radio silent....except for their celebration trailors and changelogs that is xD

    For the walls.... Same thing, BI is not a small indie developer anymore...we are talking about about a company having development studios all over the world. Why is it not possible to overhaul the existing buildings and bring them to a modern standart...they can't use this outdated stuff in the future anyway and will have to make everything from scratch for new games...

    They are simply not listening....they needed vehicles and basebuilding to introduce at least something new and something endgame for their official releases two years ago. Especially taking into account all the missing content at that time. Well two years later these mechanics are still broken as fuck and a lot of players did not want them to be implemented that way anyway. So why not scrapping this whole running around for hours to fix a damned car anyway. This bullshit is no fun, not working and not realistic at all. Spawn vehicles with no fuel and/or with a ruined tire or two, maybe a few bullet wholes for the immersion and let us have some fun. It would be more than enough to search for fuel and some tire repair kits. Imagine the fun and exitement to find a working car at the coast as a new spawn like it was possible in the mod..this would open up so much more stories and ways to experience this game. Don't be so stubborn ... Same goes for other things...but well this here is about vehicles...

    Probably they copied or bought some outdated tech from bethesda...they are famous for their bad lighting and using coloured filters xD

    Yeah second screeenshot could also be from Arma 3 Chernarus CUP maps 2.0...and again...the lighting of the last pre Enfusion version was the best we ever had...day and especially night lighting... and the list goes on 😕

    About the 0.62 purists ...of course you are right regarding framerates, overall stability and especially animations, the game runs and feels much smoother and more fluid, the map looks better than ever...we've got modding support and last not least I guess the largest amount of infected since the very start of the SA, BUT ! Contenwise and much more important regarding gameplay mechanics and ballancing I absolutely prefer the pre Enfusion versions. If I could I would immediately swap better frames and animations for all the things they had shown us back then like contaminated areas, barricading, bicycles, the Little Bird or the Duster Plane.. I am absolutely convinced that if Brian Hicks had continued his work on DayZ without a complete change to Enfusion we would have got a much better game years ago, a game more adult and much closer to Dean Halls original vision....maybe a bit clunky and glitchy...but FUN

    Yeah celebrating a list of more or less minor bugfixes as if they had newly invented the wheel...the whole gameplay loops have to be overhauled, ballanced and polished bitterly...from the ridiculous starter gear...nutrition, hydration and deseases...to the horrible endgame mechanics ( vehicles and basebuilding) just to name a few. Honestly they actually should overhaul the game as a whole and try to get the different mechnics work together and to make sense... What sense does it make to have dehydration, contaminated watersources , deseases and stuff to counter it like water cleaning tabs when there is no need to drink water at all because you could keep your hydration level perfectly fine by eating fruits and mushrooms..... The point is, that if you are new to DayZ it feels like a tough and hard suvival experience while it is nothing else than broken and unballanced mechanics on the one side and finding exploits to counter them on the other....

    There were proper working cars, bikes, quads, bicycles, dirtbikes, tanks, planes, helicopters and boats in Arma Cold War Assault ( 2001) , Arma Armed Assault (2006), Arma 2 (2009) and Arma 3 (2013) 20 years after they released their first proper game including working vehicles, after DayZ being worked on now since nearly 10 years and after Dayz being released and sold as a final and finished product since 2 years now it is behind me how someone still can defend this. Either BI released the game running on a halfarsed, unfinished and unstable engine or if this is not the case, they were not willing to invest the manpower to fix it until now......

    You are not telling me that the broken nutrition system has been made worse ??? A few days ago I gave DayZ another try ( just to clearyfy I am playing vanilla and on public servers only). I started on a low pop Uk server...on my first run I was killed after maybe 10 to 15 minutes from the first two players I ran into, maybe even the only other players on the whole fucking server. Looking obviously like a fresh spawn and being unarmed the killed me on sight without even trying to communicate...well ok this DayZ 😕 My second run was about one and half hour before I died of as it seemed a mix out of starvation and a cold ? Allthough I completely had changed my clothes to dry ones after being soaked at the beginning. New dry jeans, a dry police jacket, a beanie, an anti stab vest, working gloves and boots...and even using a heat pack and eating vitamin pills like crazy..... I also had tons of apples, pears, mushrooms, plums and if I remember correctly 2 or 3 cans of sardines or tuna.....and I died ..what the fuck...and during all of that time I did not drink a tiny drop of water ...my hydration being white nearly all the time, dropping to yellow only twice.. Honestly this is anything but fun and at the same time anything but realistic. This game still has a lot to offer...but everything that could be fun, like looting appartment blocks, avoiding zombies or investigating gun shots in the distance etc. is being killed by this ridicolus hunt for nutrition. This is not harsh or unforgiven...this is simply very very bad gameplay 😞 And then when you finally made it far inland ...being well geared and well fed, you can play for hours without thinking of food...what always is ending in getting bored and being killed in PVP because there is no endgame other than broken vehicles and this pain in the arse basebuilding system. And why is it just me and my friends making the same experience again and again and again when giving this game a new try....because most people are playing on modded servers or are more or less new to the game, simply thinking that all this failing is because of the games unforgiven nature, while it is because of its shitty game mechanics and gameplay..... some months ago I wrote this Since I found most people not really understanding what I am talking about I made 3 test runs tonight that should cleary prove that dehydration and starvation completely works the wrong way and quiet the contrary to how it is in RL and how it should work ingame too. 1. test : vanilla server, usual starter gear, lying on the grass at the coast and not moving at all , no eating and no drinking nutrition icon (apple) went down to yellow, red and then flashing until I died of starvation after around 30 minutes while the hydration icon (bottle) remained white until the end 2. test: vanilla server, usual starter gear, constantly jogging with no break, no eating and no drinking hydration icon went to yellow first, shortly followed by the nutrition icon, then the nutrition icon went red, then flashing..till I died of starvation after around 25 minutes with the hydration icon still being yellow 3. test : vanilla server, usual starter gear, constantly pressing the sprint button ( sprinting and jogging) without a break, no eating, no drinking hydration icon went yellow first, then the nutrition icon went yellow also, then red and then began flashing, after it was empty flashing for a while the hydration icon went red also, seconds later I died of starvation after around 15 minutes with the hydration icon being red but not empty or flashing. This clearly shows that the nutrition level drops much too fast compared to the hydration level. It should be exactly the other way round. Having then fruits and vegetables etc give you such a big hydration boost (which is realistic) would then also make much more sense then now. As I said this is not game breaking but under bad conditions like high populated servers, a bad spawn point, a lot of hoarded food etc, it is no fun especially if you do not have that much time to play or if you are a new player. Last but not least, compared to how easy the endgame is once you are well fed and have found some decent gear it would be not a bad idea anyway to reduce the pace at the start and to add some more difficulty to the endgame beside PVP....

    It is somehow strange to see how much not only this game but also its playerbase has changed. Back in the days 99 % of the active forum members were more or less hardcore Arma 2 players. It is funny to see things coming up now like The Green Sea, Miroslav or Utes xD

    I don't get it why they not simply use Altis and Tanoa . Altis would be perferct for vehicle gameplay since it is really large, while Tano would provide a complete new setting including a huge modern city with Office buildings and stuff ....maybe things like tropical desease could be also added for Tanoa, while hydration would be a big thing on Altis...
