I would a would be more immersive to have border fences, rocks, contaminated areas, minefields etc etc instead an invisible border region...plus maybe having low poly trees ( maybe even buildings) beyond the border as far as the view of distance goes... leaving the playable map for example using a heli, should lead to death...( after a warning that is of course) cheers

i would like to start a discussion about the current looting mechanics...
Private Evans replied to joe_mcentire's topic in General Discussion
Since I think removing or changing the vicinity window would make things only more frustrating and complicated I still plead for loot containers to make things more interesting. At least 50 % of all loot items inside structures could be placed inside boxes, fridges, wardrobes, desks, shelves etc etc. Searching them should take a specific time ( until you can see what's inside) and make of course some noise ( a nice animation would not hurt). Searching in a hurry should make more noise ( nice feature from State of Decay ). Maybe this could even have different stages of searching..from stealthy to vandalism :P -

Stary tents....heard a lot of tales about the mysterious place beyond the artifact

Very good point ! Buildings like hospitals, police stations, fire stations and school buildings should be found in the major cities only anyway. This means Cherno, Elektro, Berezino, Svetlo, Novo and Severo ( having the firestation for Svetlo and Novo placed in Polana does not hurt in this case) , Some of the bigger towns inland like Stary, Krasno or Zeleno could have smaller versions like the wooden clinic building etc. All the smaller towns and villages should have no official buildings but pharmacies, small police stations, post offices etc inside private buildings or inside local shops like Joe suggested. This would make this buildings more special and unique and would also force players to travell a lot more to get specific supplies like for example antibiotics. Beside that lowering the number of these buildings would maybe allow to make and look them more unique. :) we need a map design discussion thread

yap I hope they remove the large military camps ( tents) completely for example ...they are mainly used for farming and gearing up on empy servers anyway ...would be better to see more small camps and checkpoints scattered all over the map instead :) Also large military bases and airfields should be done properly with vehicles and tanks standing around ( not wrecked that is) and migs inside the hangars etc ...bigger evac camps could be for example more UN based...

Clarification on "Base Building"
Private Evans replied to Caboose187 (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
With world containers coming, persistent fireplaces etc ect I see absolutely no sense in playermade buildings. Being able to craft and place fortifications, barricades and traps around existing structutes is all we need :) ...not talking about camping in the woods and barricading some windows , this is planned anyway -
I prefer stuff like this over these I am a sharpshooter legend killed 20 bandits in elektro with my derringer videos. It is all about different people and interactions...and these french guys were ...special :)

Anyone Remember World Containers?
Private Evans replied to Damnyourdeadman's topic in General Discussion
performance...imagine you enter the green wooden farm house...on the right side in the corner beside the open wardrobe you find a pair of wellies..you enter the kitchen ..on the floor you find a bloody kitchen knife...inside the cupboard (loot container) you find a pack of rice and a damaged package of cornflakes..on the oven(loot container) there is a cooking pot and inside the oven a piece of rotten meat, inside the fridge(loot container) two cans of pipsi and a green pepper...you walk upstairs and find a cap and a t shirt lying on the floor, a woolen jacket inside the wardrobe(loot container) and a pen and a map inside the small desk(loot container)...under the bed you finally find a 22mm sporter...you dig through the pile of junk (loot container) outside the building and find an empty pet bottle... loot items found 16 ......items to spawn in the game world 6.....now think of the possibilities and what it means for performance...and diversity :) -
Anyone Remember World Containers?
Private Evans replied to Damnyourdeadman's topic in General Discussion
Collecting apples, woms, twigs, berries stones grass, chicken feathers etc works exactly the same way as loot containers ...so do tents vehicles, backbacks, fishtraps and rabbit snares.. so what"s the problem with having for example a rubbish skip as a loot container for empty pet bottles and rotten food ...by looking at it you would get a context menue saying "do you want to dig in the garbage?" then pressing F would start animation and sound ( same way as apple picking) ..after a while you probably get this message "you have found something"...look in your inventory ...voila some rotten kiwis and a damaged empty pet bottle.... Some other examples...ammo and weapon crates in miltary bases...or the lockers in the barracks could have a chance of spawning uniforms ...etc etc..the possibilities are endless... This does not mean that there is no loot lying on tables, under beds or simply on the floor....it would make looting just more interesting and also would save a lot of server performance.... As far as it goes for Fallout and The Elder Scrolls...Rocket statet more than one time that they are taking a lot of inspiration from this games.... ;) -
Anyone Remember World Containers?
Private Evans replied to Damnyourdeadman's topic in General Discussion
Honestly I still don"t get why they are not going the Fallout/Elder scrolls games way This would make things more logical, interesting and especially it would help a lot with server performance since there would be no need to spawn all these items in to the gameworld anymore. Like in for example Fallout3 we could have items lying around on the floor or on shelves etc but also have a great amount stored in loot containers, which technicallyare not really difficult to create ( look at how apple trees etc work) We could have fridges, ovens, wardrobes, cupboards, desks, rubbish skips...lockers, crates, cardboxes...suitcases, mailboxes etc etc etc Probably 50 % of all loot items inside buildings could or better should spawn in loot containers.. -
Don't even look at it !
