Why not just say " Sorry guys, we ran into multiple unexpected bugs and code errors and we are not where we wanted to be. At the end of the year we will release a beta version on stable branch which will be a solid running plattform to build on in the future with as many features implemented as currently possible, which includes modding and Server files. The missing features will come in quartlerly updates in 2019. Expect 1.0 ( full game) somewhere around Q3 or Q4 next year." That would be honest and something at least your hardcore fans could live with. The reputation of this game and its dev team(s) outside of this community is fucked anyway. Selling us here and the public the game in its current state as version 1.0 using cheap salesman tricks will make things even a lot worse !!!!!! -

So after a lot of discussions during the last weeks it now seems clear that all the bad premonitions were even understated . One does not simply walk into Chernarus and call all important stuff flavor features just because you were not able to implement them in time. Remove Modding and Server files from your list and we are more or less left with vehicles and base building, Two features that currently look and feel far away from being ready /really playable. Two features that seem to take all your manpower and resources. Two features that we all would trade for the survival features and items that we all love ...Bioahaze nailed it in his post allthough he even missed a lot of things like drugs, cigarettes, alcohol, books, writing notes, overgrown buildings etc etc etc. Two features which are mainly in to please the new to DayZ console players.... I am sure we will see some more vehicles and weapons as well as the the helicopter pretty soon...to please the console player base, but I wonder if we will ever see all the missing and promised features.... Last but not least...giving no roadmap for the missing stuff and being pretty vague about the planned features is not cool...we still do not know what really is going on with the medical system and horticulture for example. This is not the game I was dreaming of ...and if you are still really wiling to make it that game, it will take you at least one more year when looking at all the missing and unpolished stuff -

So this is what most of us expected...Beta/1.0 will come before Christmas including whatever will be avaible until the end of the year. questions : what is the status of the medic system ? ( wounds, fractures, infections, poisoning, deseases...morphine, ephedrine, charcoal tablets antibiotics pain killers, defibrilator etc etc) will horticulture be in ? will binos and compass make it into beta/1.0 ? until when will the missing content be added ? ( especially the helicopter...in the mod one of the iconic things) cheers -
Nice read bringing back a lot of good memories :) With all the focus on survival and PVE ...these are actually the moments that always made DayZ so intense.

As it seems you are not that informed. Arma 3 will be the Arma plattform for the next years to come. There is even a meeting this week with community content creators which will most likely create official third party dlc's for Arma 3. As I said before enfusion engine right now is far away from being a real future/next gen tech for BI's game in the years to come http://tacticalfin.com/sfswebsite/2018/10/09/original-interview-with-bohemia-interactive-english-version/

Again...DayZ SA development started in August/September 2012...6 years that is ...even a bit more...nearly 5 years since early access release on Steam, :)
-
Afaik Soundsystem ( soundtails), realsky , clouds , weather (fog), lighting, occlusion culling... there is a lot of stuff that has been more or less taken from or shared with Arma3.

First of all we are not either whining nor flaming the devs, but we are discussing different aspects of the development of this game, for what this place here, the forums, seems to me the right place. I also think it is absolutely important that the devs do not only read the usual fanboy posts after releasing another boring Status Report full of the same blablabla. You are asking why so many threads are dead...because we do not get proper infos about what really is going on and no one of the devs is really taking part in any discussion or answering serious questions. They showed us and told us so many things, that nobody cares anymore what they are writing in their reports. I do not need to see stuff that probably will be released in two years or maybe even not at all....precise object placing...overgrown buildings...small object physics, contaminated zones.... There are Status Reports and there is Trello and twitter and a thread for stable, for exp., for stress tests etc This sounds much but indeed the whole huge bubble is empty....simple answers would do it much better and maybe here and there a dev reacting on different topics. Combining this with the very slow progresss, missing content and such things like releasing server files and maybe modding before we see 1.0 , leaves even longtime fans worried and angry which we try to express and discuss here in a most of the time adult way....

This also shows how far away the new engine still really is from being BI's future plattform and how much focus simply was on making it run on the current console versions.

Writing Notes...The biggest "small" content mechanic.
Private Evans replied to philbur's topic in General Discussion
Not only that but it was also planned to use notes, newspapers, letters. computer and even audiologs to provide some nice lore background of the outbreak and tell some little stories... -
Obviously these here are just the first steps of making BI's tech ( engine) ready for the future and the first one was making their games (open world maps) run on consoles. If we take a closer look at for example world building we can clearly see how far enfusion engine ist still away from providing next gen tech. Having different biomes on the same map, underground structures, caves and tunnels, real snow, realistic rivers, lakes and waterways, destructable environment and very important generating proper outside lod terrains just to name a few things are still missing ( as far as we know). Not to speak about more sophisticated stuff like invisible loading screens ( container streaming) and cloud technology which will allow much bigger worldmaps/ game worlds in the future... So like it or not everything right now may it be DayZ, Vigor or Argo...is mainly for testing and experimenting future tech....

Now this is getting interesting :) Last year Devs showed us a first PC beta version at Gamescon...this year we did not even get a small look at a final beta or 1.0 PC version but everything was about the alpha Xbox release...We are not getting regular content updates but ...Server files...and for sure we will get modding tools before 1.0 will be feature complete.... Looking also at BI's Incubator https://incubator.bohemia.net/ and Vigor https://www.bohemia.net/games/vigor a game that will be free to play, Xbox exclusive and developed on Unreal engine and taking also into account that we do not have any info if we will ever see a new Arma title in the future...in fact they said that they will support the Arma3 plattform for years to come, one can start to think that this here is also just only a small piece of the big puzzle...and not about the vision or dream it all started with....
-
Agreed...the new Kingdome Come Deliverance DLC is coming out in a few days anyway...so enough to do :) some would say....spending some more time in Bohemia without cars and zombies... hahaha sorry could not resist cheers :)

Your bus is driving with 5 mile ph and the driver has to stopp all 5 minutes to fix the engine or change a wheel... It took them nearly a year to release 0.63 ( to experimental) after showing it during Gamescon last year. Since then (4 months) we've got one larger update that needed endless stresstests before it could be relased...to experimental of course. A content patch that was not even that big and brought us first implemantations of different mechanics ( deseases, jumping) and two weapons that were in 2013.... AI spawns on servers with offline DB This is probably one of the last bugs we want to solve on the current Experimental branch. The rest will be fixed within the Experimental BETA update. from Status Report 25.09 .....has it been fixed..?? Priority Issues For one, hit registration has been quite a problem recently, and I want to talk about what we know so far. While for most you, it seems like your bullets are not registering when hitting players around you, there might be (and probably are) multiple causes to this behavior. from Status Report 09.10 ... so this a new bug ?? We've recently had our first multiplayer playtest of vehicles on the new implementation and the first results are promising. Once we have more to share about the patch, we will do so, both here and other channels. But the current state leaves us with two major, risky features in terms of overall update stability: vehicles and base building. from Status report 09.10 ...so more bugs ?? Other than that, we are preparing a patch for the PC Experimental branch, ideally containing the fixes to the hit registration issue, as well as other smaller changes based on your feedback. From log upgrades to the ability to set a Steam query port for ease of DDOS setup when hosting a server, and some more. ...Juhuu looking forward for the new patch...( maybe put the SkS in as a small present ....hmmm ok now I am getting greedy) 10 weeks to go until Christmas....
-
S Selling more than 3 million copies during the first 18 months by, amongst other things, making false promises more than once and then telling us after 6 years without nearly none (playable) progress until today that you've warned us, is a fucking joke . However there is not much left to say for a casual player like me that only supported and backed games from early on like Arma3, Take on Mars, Kingdome Come Deliverance, Star Citizen, Hell Let Loose, Squad, The Long Dark and a lot more.... I really hope Biohaze is right and it is just a bit more of bugfixing before they begin to pump out all the stuff that has been finished and sits on their devbuild ready to be unleashed.... would not bet on it though...

Yeah very nice idea. but if anything, such things will not happen before Arma/Milisim mechanics are implemented into Enfusion Engine. Sadly we do not know anything about their future plans regarding such plans...

What is the state of the medical and health systems ? Beside hunger, thirst and stamina these are the most important main basic mechanics ...Would be nice to get some info on that stuff as well. cheers -
Well let's look at it this way...players that were willing to suffer and participate like Biohaze stated will of course be happy about every small step forward (same goes for the devs). 10 zombies are of course much better than 0 and getting the Mosin and the M4 back is also much better than running around with a hunting rifle only etc, but this is not how it works for everyone. As I said before I gave the game a fair go over a few days and even retried it a few days ago together with my son when he was visiting me....honestly I was shocked by the current state of the game and I am sure nearly everybody coming back and testing 0.63 after a longer break will feel the same. Would probably feel different if I would have played and tested it constantly over all the years..... So for some of you it was " yeah the Mosin and scopes" hurray...for me it was " wtf this has been in since 2013" ...also 60 FPS and decent graphics are no reason to party wild in 2018... maybe some of you get the point :) cheers

Just for the record...Dayz standalone was announced in August 2012 ...so that is exactly 6 years right now...even a bit more ( first screen shots of new made interiors were shown in October 2012). I even think it is the perfect time for exactly this thread again...reviews and critiques are mostly negativ, most players lost interest and moved on to play other games, youtube presence would be dead without X Box content at least compared to the old times...player base is absolutely low even during weekends...and honestly 0.63 ist boring, unpolished, unballanced and buggy as hell for a game that should reach beta and 1.0 within the next 3 months after being developed for 6 years...this is simply a fact. Compared to Arma 3 it even looks cartoonish and not that realistic ( console graphics). ...even BI fanboys and Arma/DayZ veterans like me are disappointed and pissed...so threads like this are not written anymore by trolls and bullies but by real fans of the game ! with shifting most Arma3 devs to Ylands and Vigor and with releasing dayZ on consoles it seems obvious that DayZ and its playerbase (PC gamers that is) is somekind of a sacrificial lamb....for BI's future plans....

A long time ago I also remember Dean talking about adding coffee and tea... and even with the ingredients we've got right now you could do things like : milkpowder + water = milk + rice + fruits = rice pudding ( some sugar would be nice though)

90% of players are unimaginitive simpletons
Private Evans replied to nl's topic in General Discussion
Hahaha oh yes it is amazing to watch Xbox reviews and gameplay on yt :)) In this case... is it even possible to force feed desinfection spray or rotten stuff at the moment ?? I mean xbox players have seen just the tip of the iceberg of what are people/players are capable of xD -
So as far as I know, to save needed resources, all Arma Combat AI stuff was ripped out of the game a long time ago. While this of course makes sense for the vanilla game, it could be a problem or handicap when it comes to modding. I mean a lot of Arma 3 mods, especially total conversions could benefit big time from enfusion engine features. Melee combat especially ist something that is really missing in Arma series in general but especially in mods featuring historical stuff like pirates and WWI mods or stuff like Warhammer 40k etc. Porting over such mods should be not that big problem since both games share a lot of tech and modding tools, but such ported7 shaered mods would work in PVP only without proper AI I guess ...which sucks. Of course the zombie and animal AI can be used to create all different types of creatures but I am talking about a more military style of enemies and combat...means human AI. Is BI going to keep this things completely seperated..Arma3 modding and DayZ modding...will there be licenses to use Arma stuff for DayZ and vice versa...ist there maybe a basic human AI even included in enfusion...or will it be possible to create it for modders ? Thoughts ?

thx Funkdoc...I missed that one.

Internal testing of the new content update 19/07/2018
Private Evans replied to Baty Alquawen's topic in News & Announcements
Well ...from what I have seen new exp version feels, looks and runs pretty good but still ...I think this game needs content added much faster. Cars, basebuilding and helicopters have too be implemented before christmas and I also would expect regular content updates after beta release on a at least monthly base. If they manage to release 1.0 then by the end of march and all promised remaining features until Q2 then this game has a good chance for a come back. It is on the edge...there is simply no more space for delays, fails and promises...
