    Since the engine seems far away from being complete and BI already stated thast they are not even thinking about Arma 4 but supporting Arma 3 as a plattform for the years to come....no need to think about this xD

    To be honest I am completely disappointed with the so called year of DayZ 2018...and not hyped and/or willing to wait one or maybe even two years more to get a game that is at least close to what I was hoping for...I am sure though they will fix and improve the game and also add missing content but I am also not expecting any new fresh and creative content that also is bitterly needed after 6 years. A mod like Namalsk or a cool total conversion could maybe bring me back ....who knows... PS: I am not angry with the devs or BI, I had more than enough fun with this game...but for me this is simply not working anymore :/

    Fix and improve server browser fix persistence improve server performance add new inventory fix, improve and polish sounds and animations tweak and implement a proper health and medical system including bleeding, fractures and damage system tweak night time gameplay tweak and improve weather and lighting tweak and improve gunplay and melee improve controls/keybindings add jumping, vaulting and climbing add missing cars add helicopter add some of the missing weapons add throwing itmes fix a jillion small bugs and glitches...as well as new ones I don't think that we will see much more in 2019....if they can manage to do at least this so far I would consider this 1.0 and maybe reinstall the game for a try...

    The problem is that we as fans as well as the devs are always looking at the game not as it really is but as we imagine it to be. We are playing it gearing up, looking for better clothes and setting up camps and fire places....for no reason, just because we imagine we are playing a survival game. Indeed we could survive just in our underpants wielding a stone knife...all you need is to find some food and water and maybe craft some rags which all is ridiculously simple atm. There are no threats, risks or challenges and therefore no reasons to build communities or even to fight for resources. Combat is horrible and no fun and the Infected are still not working not even the basics (sensors, movement and pathfinding). Version 1.0 is just a charade...we are playing a dream not a functioning game..not even considering all the bugs and glitches... without the bonus of knowing BI will fix it how long it ever may take...the reviews would be even rightly worse...

    Every 3 mo over last 5 years I try Dayz Again...

    Same here...tested 0.63 a few months ago and was shocked by the lack of content ....a pure showcase and boring walking sim that was for me. Uninstalled the game to wait for beta and 1.0 to give it another fair try. But after playing and testing the current version for a week now I am going to uninstall the game again today. There is still such a massive amount of missing, not polished, unfinished, and unballanced content that it is simply boring. If it wouldn't be for hostile players or server crashes one could endlessly walk in circles around the map without any real risk or threat. To be honest there is neither a reason to fight and kill other players for resources and gear nor to build a community . Not even basebuilding and cars fulfill any real purpose without all the other game mechnics in place. On top of that..a lot of the stuff that is in, is buggy ...may it be car physics...radiotowers of death....wrong position of items in your hand or on your back....sound issues...wrong textures for different damage states...buggy serverbrowser...server crashes...persistance wipes...etc. Not even speaking about overcomplicated keybindings and controls that make even walking around a pain in the ass (no autorun...no toggle for walk/ run) I will try again in a few months ....maybe

    No Walk Toggle?

    Something the devs do not understand it seems...making controls overcomplicated ist not a survival feature but a pain in the ass. A toggle for walking/ running and also for ads ( without having to hold right mouse button) is bitterly needed....and for me personnaly so is autorun as well !!!!!
  9. The creative part of this game is done....they are focusing on getting the helicopter in ...the only chance to see what they call "flavor content" is to create mods for it...

    I am talking about playing vanilla Dayz on public servers...and I am talking about the proper lore that was in at the very beginning of the SA. One originally planned feature that never made it into the game and I guess never will. I personnaly was very hyped for finding stuff like notes, orders, newspapers, letters etc telling this little stories about the virus and the outbreak.

    It is a shame that the devs since Hicks do not care about providing a bit more lore about the virus and the outbreak. Especially for a good rollplaying experience, with a lot of different people playing on a server without knowing each other it is important to share a basic background lore.

    Hmmm I am trying to remember the name of the guy that had the idea for an open world sandbox zombie survival game in the first place...before Hicks that was....you know that creative guy that made the gaming world stood still for a good while...not being a real experienced project lead but full of interesting ideas focused on gameplay and player freedom...he then went off to climb a mountain...hmmm would love to hear what he thinks about what the technocrats made of his original idea....

    just an idea .... if we would have a spring and summer map also and maps representing the transitions between spring, summer, autumn and winter ( 8 maps in total) a private server could nicely simulate a full year cycle. for example: every season could last 10 ingame weeks and every transition in between 3 ingame weeks...that would be a total of 52 ingame weeks simulating a full ingame year. using then accelerated time making an ingame day last 6 real time hours would result in something like this: spring 420 ingame hours = 10 ingame weeks = 17,5 real time days transition to summer 126 ingame hours = 3 ingame weeks = 5,25 real time days summer 420 ingame hours = 10 ingame weeks = 17,5 real time days transition to autumn 126 ingame hours = 3 ingame weeks = 5,25 real time days autumn 420 ingame hours = 10 ingame weeks = 17,5 real time days transition to winter 126 ingame hours = 3 ingame weeks = 5,25 real time days winter 420 ingame hours = 10 ingame weeks = 17,5 real time days transition to spring 126 ingame hours = 3 ingame weeks = 5,25 real time days which would give us a full year cyle including all seasons every 3 realtime months :)

    Honestly I can't wait to read the 2019 Road Map Staus Report... I am pretty sure it goes like..... now with the 1.0 mile stone achieved the future of dayZ shines even more bright than ever....of course we are well aware that there are still some remaining bugs and glitches but the team is working hard to resolve the most pressing issues as soon as possible ...more tweaking and ballancing of the core mechanics remains the main focus for the next weeks but you all will be thrilled to hear that the iconic Sks rifle and the Colt 1911 will see a return in Q2 ....to celebrate Xbox leaving its preview status and the upcoming PS4 release we will even showcase some wip helicopter gameplay of our next milestone release during gamescom 2019... followed by excuses why more content has been postponed or cancelled.... see you in Chernarus

    PC 1.0 Release Date Announcement

    For me personally I don't mind bugs that much since I am playing BI games since OP Flashpoint and DayZ since the early days of the mod...I am used to it xD but I am more than afraid that adding more and especially new and fresh and creative content will take forever driving me and I lot of people that I know away from DayZ for good. The problem is that Dayz does not offer long time fun to me anymore. I rather find it boring after a few gaming sessions.It runs and looks nice and it is of course still fun to explore the awesome map (love the hiking trails and the idea of making Chernarus a popular holiday location). Also the wolves....for me one of the highligts of the game ! But that's it ...more or less. Making other players drink desinfection spray or eating rotten kiwis, shoot outs at NWA or running through the countryside for hours meeting then the one nice guy...nice of course but seen and done it a thousand times....Also Basebuilding as it is right now and/or running around the whole map to maybe find a car and all needed parts for it feels more irritating than fun. As it looks right now polishing, tweaking and bugfixing will obviously go on for a few more weeks or even months in 2019. My guess is at least for Q1, including a few additions like fractures and bleeding and/or a new car maybe even a new gun... until XBox leaves preview status that probably will be. Devs also stated that they will share their roadmap for 2019 not before January, which means, work on new content will not start before late January 2019, with the team also still fixing, tweaking and polishing the basics and also preparing Xbox and PS4 releases... Taking into account the massive amount of missing content, of which a lot is very complicated to implement( they stated themselves), I dont expect this game to be feature complete before somewhere in 2020....and I am just talking about the missing feature we all know about, that were postponed and promised for 2019 like, helicopters barricading, ragdoll, throwing items. contaminated zones etc etc etc ... I am not even talking about more creative and sophisticated features and content that I was hoping to see in the final game like random events like blights, snow and frost, floods, storms, fires, blocked roads, collapsed bridges or stuff like boats and ferries maybe even scuba diving...parachuting....advanced cooking...drugs and alcohol ( crimean sparkling wine please)...military vehicles...madmax style vehicle customizing...rollplaying biker gangs ( which require a large number of motorcycles to spawn)....more horror elements like for example rats and birds feeding on dead bodies or having working mirrors inside of buildings....more special locations like an abanndoned asylum ( the craddle never leaves) an amusement park, a cirus (zombie clowns) .....underground structures, caves and mines....anyone remembers Deans awesome idea of hidden player underground bases ? What about world containers letting us rummage through every pile of junk desk and cupboard making looting fun....what about instances or the possibility to travel between different maps....and and and All stuff that has been discussed, proposed and talked about on the forums during 2012 and 2013 a lot btw ( vets will remember) last but not least...I am badly missing the promised lore about the virus, the outbreak...and about Chernarus in general (for the none Arma2 players)

    For me the last 12 devblogs were all the same blabla but I would at least expect a final Status Report that comes with the 1.0 release telling us their plans for 2019 and maybe...just maybe say thank you to the community for giving them chance after chance after chance allthough 2018 the so called year of DayZ has been nearly a complete pain in the ass ...

    this is not completely true..in unreal for example you can make holes into the landscape which then can be used as entrances connected by structures like cave walls, tunnel walls etc the outside terrain is a joke it is just an automated generated heightmap with one single lod texture which completely destroys any immersion when reaching the map borders ( this is why all Arma 3 terrains are islands) the lighting especially the interior lighting simply is outdated...and there is also no info about seasonal patterns and/or stuff like procedural snow etc for me right now this still looks very basic ( and somehow outdated) and not like a next gen engine build for the future...well...it is running on current consoles :/

    This engine is nothing more than a basic version right now and far away from being on par with current next gen engines. Allthough dayz is looking nice and has its moments it is looking outdated compared to other engines...no seasonal patterns...no underground structures...outdated lighting....no real outside the border lod terrain etc If this engine is meant to be the future engine for BI games there is still alot to do and add.....

    Remember...a few weeks back when they announced beta and 1.0 both to be released in 2018 a hell of a shitstorm broke loose (mainly because of all the missing content). The devs main argument for releasing 1.0 and postponing so much content was to build a stable running, polished and ballanced version and then to add the so called flavor content post 1.0 in 2019. As it looks right now there is not only the massive amount of content that is missing but also the current status of the game is still buggy, unpolishesd and unballanced as fuck with just 3 weeks to go before their christmas break. I am sure devs are working hard and will be able to provide some fixes for the most pressing issues so that we will have at least a good basic running version of the game before Christmas but this will for sure be still far away from being really polished and ballanced, not to speak that stuff like horticulture and/or the truck are not even in the game now.... Yeah DayZ has been very lucky so far...BUT... there is this small very passionate team making a very promising looking Zombie Survival Game taking place in Alberta Canada running on Unreal Engine.... just sayin....
