yep always my route..Kamenka-Balota Airfield, Zelenogorsk-Green Mountain-Vybor-NW Airfield-Stary-Berezino -
For me the only map besides Chernarus that provides a new cool unique atmosphere and challenge is Namalsk...could use 2 or 3 more villages though (especially on the smaller island).

To create a map you have to use the BI tools (2.5.1) since this is what they actually used for creating Arma/DayZ.. You even can use the current resources and replace them later on with the new SA models. It is not a problem to mod DayZ SA but to get the mods running with it because of the new server/client architecture. -

Taking sand banks and a draught between 10 and 16 m into account, we will have to get our feet wet one way or another :) But what I really would like to know is if there will there be player spawn points the whole way from Kamenka to Guba, or only the few we've got so far mainly at the south coast ? cheers -

First thing I 've seen about origins was modders complaining about origin devs using resources and ideas from other mods without asking for permission :| ...however npc's is a STRICT NO, base building and a new vehicle system (mad max style) is more or less confirmed for the SA anyway...mining ...well a pick axe sounds like a nice melee weapon that's it... :beans: for PK Richie's perfect statement "Dayz Origins can go fuck themselves, money hungry greedy bastards." -

A game modification ( in this case a total conversion) must be free of charge and also must have the original game as a requirement to play. Otherwise it would be no mod but an indiependent or low budget game like Iron Front Liberation 1944 and the publisher (game developer) would defenetely charge the "modder" for using the copyright protected game engine and resources. If Arma would be published by Bethsoft ( TES ,Fallout) for example, we would have to buy not only Arma2 Combined Operations but also all DLC packs as a requirement since Rocket has used some of the resources for DayZ mod . Bethsoft even does not allow to use resources from older games for modding their newer games. So using converted Arma Cold War resources for modding Arma 2 would be completely out of question... -

Let's have a look on the SA improvments and features that have been confirmed and shown so far : Engine: New Server/Client structure (has been explained to death and is still being worked on) Map : All buildings enterable (providing detailed and immersive interiors) 7 cities revamped so far (ongoing) new areas like the new Cherno suburbs , swamps, new large military facilty ( thats the new areas we have seen so far, I am sure there will be a few more) airfilelds and military camps redone and added (Balota and NW Airfiled shown so far) Utes has been added to the map better textures for the landscape , trees, grass, roads and buildings etc a lot of eyecandy like wrecked cars crashed airplanes and stuff has been added new structures (prison has been confirmed) a new satelite map ( far distance view is a lot better) improved rendering ( far distance view is a lot better) ToH improved weather sytem including volumetric clouds Completely new inventory, clothing and item system (has been explained to death) Completely new loot spawn system (blablabla) Crafting new UI new character models new zombie skins ( one female has been shown so far) a completely new skeleton (allowing melee combat for example ) improved 1. person view completely new mocaped animations ( player and infected) new anims (jump for example) and idle anims improved Zombie pathfinding and AI all weapons will be remade from the scratch ( AK, M4 and Mauser Riffle confirmed so far) new crossbow model overhauled ingame chat functions including radios readable books, notes and journals as well as usable pen and paper tons of new items ( like gasmaks, desinfection sprays, can opener etc etc etc) that's only the stuff we have seen ( no secrets) and has been made in 7 months by a small team What The Fuck is wrong with you ???? -

Yap but would be great to see new clothes, weapons,maps, books, sounds, music, hairstyles, rubber dolls etc etc etc added by the community at some point to keep the game interesting...not talking about adding more horrible clones but contributing to the original game instead...

Some technical input... The Chernarus heightmap is a 2048 x 2048 map using a cell seize of 7, 5 m which gives us a 15360 x 15360 m playable (usable) map. Everything beyond the map borders is so called outside terrain which is rendered automatically by the game engine. This outside terrain has no satelite or texture map data and can not be edited in visitor ( game editor tool). So again there is some unused terrain that probably can be used to extend the map but it is not THAT MUCH. cheers

this is alpha testing atm, I am pretty sure they will be able to improve the performance :) -
Utes is not a map extension. It does not make the map bigger but provides more playable ground where has been only sea before.

Some of the free space could of course be used but keep in mind that every map needs some land beyond the playable areas to provide a proper lod...especially since Chernarus is no island.

@ Ingasmeeg This is quiet normal for modding...if you feel you can do better, just recreate your stuff until you're happy...there is no deadline. Modding should be fun in the first place very good job so far :thumbsup: -

Hmmm I also think it would be better to have all basic features included in the first release. Stuff like more items or endgame content like base building etc can be added later on but the basic components should be in right from the start. just my two cents :) -

I will for sure use no teamspeak (never did) ! Using radios, pen and paper (leaving notes) and giving signals ( smoke, flares etc) only will add so much to the game..I am not for banning ts but hopefully we will see some ts free servers one day. -
