Did some research here and as it seems worldwide GPS system would be fucked pretty soon in case of such a global apocalyptic scenario. This is because the course of each satelite has to be adjusted regulary by the ground control center....

I don't think that we will get that much new stuff after the final release..probably one new map (addon) beside bugfixes of course .I know from my own experience that a good modding scene can keep a game and forums interesting for years. Just take a look at the Arma, Stalker or Bethsoft forums... -

1. Building structures like in DayZ Origins will not happen on regular servers for obvious reasons (has been discussed to death here)... These sweet little hero houses for example are really embarrassing 2. Building underground bases (most likely instanced) has been more or less confirmed 2. Fortifying places is already possible but I agree, it should be defenetely improved -

Deer has also been confirmed( not really dangerous I know :P ) and I remember Rocket saying that the map designers have started redoing the northern part of the map (which is mainly wood and farmland). I really hope they will implement the new arma 3 fog in the SA, especially in the forest areas. -

It has been suggested before to use predefined areas as camps for larger groups or clans. The idea is to use structures like farms, small military camps etc surrounded by walls or fences already with only a few entances that can be blocked or barricaded easily. For example by using one of these large busses. Zeds once killed would not spawn again as long as player activity is noticed by the game in a specified timeframe. Let's say no player is noticed by the game within 24 hours in this area (/camp) zeds would slowly start spawning again. I still believe this would be the best soution for building bases, since it does not require stupid structure building mechanics and would defenetely not clutter the servers. It would also exactly be what people would do in RL ( like in The Walking Dead), Other groups could attack and try to overtake these camps. Also all kind of other roll playing scenarios would be possible, like establishing trading posts or hospitals (without shitty npc's) depending on the player community on different servers. Adding barbed wire, tank traps, mines and booby traps and other nice stuff would also be cool. Getting in for enemies should require at least some proper gear like satchel charges etc.

Will the SA use some improvments from the mod like that zeds can smash car windows or knock/grab players driving on bikes or quads etc ?? Combined with the new pathfinding, anims and skins that would make the zeds pretty scary and dangerous... -

Really funny that a lot of people want the game to be a hard unforgiven bitch on one side but also have some kind of luxary zombie apocalypse including big offroad cars , all kind of military weapons, looting their own dead bodies after being killed and tents full of gear all over the place (servers). What sense does permadeath make if you simply can run and get your gear back from your dead body or get a new sniper riffle from one of your tents. I agree that is is not a good idea to remove tents or dead bodies (inventories) immediately after a player has been killed, but tents per player should be limited and any gear of killed players should be removed at least after after some time... just my two cents -

It should be not possible to save more than one tent per player, if the player gets killed the tent should be removed during the next server restart (like the dead player bodies).not immediately. -

Hmmm Very strange that military forces all over the world use software made by BI Simulations for training their soldiers instead of Battlefield 3 ...maybe because Arma is a serious military simulator and current Battlefield nothing else than a Call of Duty clone with better graphics and vehicles.... http://products.bisimulations.com/ -

Hey Matt https://de.wikipedia...gationssatellit sorry this is german only you have to use google translator http://en.wikipedia....erations_Centre there are 4 avaible satelites required for GPS to work properly and there are constantly 25 -20 GPS satelites in orbit. BUT the satelites require the ground control centers for constantly and precise course calculation and other adjustments, especially since all the so called space junk is a constant threat. Now imagine that most of the other satelites ( telecomunication, etc) would be also out of control....I am pretty sure that the whole system would collapse pretty soon.At least after a few months... cheers Edit : would be cool to simulate that some satelites are broken so that you can use GPS in special timeframes only -

GPS needs 4 satelites to work properly and a total of 24 satelites in orbit (plus reserve) to work worldwide. A modern satelite has a lifetime of nearly 7 years but without working satelite control centers like the European Space Operations Centre, GPS and telecomunication via satelite will not work properly for more than a few months maybe even less. -

Map seize is technically limited to a maximum seize so you will never see large distance travelling in real time...so no :P . What I mean is a series of smaller maps maybe including somekind of scripted travel system. -

in this case... Q: What about map markers. You've talked about leaving letters or notes, what about maps? A: We have some ideas for maps but I am a little reserved about talking about them because I don't think anyone has every really done what we're considering doing and I wouldn't want another game to pick it up. So that one is going to have to be a surprise. -

Talking about maps.... maps should be very rare and most of them should be used heavily with missing or unreadable parts, also there should be different kind of maps like street or regional (city) maps...
