I've got some questions... Can someone please explain me the deeper meaning of "alpha" ...does it mean we do not get a proper font for the inventory :o and no vehicles right from the start ? Why do they not use the Arma 3 engine. Will it still be Chernarus or a new map in the SA ??

Instead of packing everything on one map it would be better to have more (many) different maps (even small ones) and the possibility to travel between them (via script). -

Please do not let us dig hobbit houses, let us overtake villages, houses or structures like it would happen in reality...I am sure there is no fancy crappy origin constructing shit needed...it could be done more smart...establishing new social structures is the logical endgame content for me... -
you can use it to protect your gun or use it as rubber gloves (see "The big Red One")

How will server hopping be handled ? examples : no logging out during combat not being able to spawn inside buildings when changing the server not being able to directly go back to a server after changing to other servers...

I know where they all come from....they are all living underground in a tube called you :P Arma has always been a game for a more closed and more mature community and this also goes for DayZ in the very beginning and as it was originally designed by Rocket . Its huge success (and the zombie hype in general) now brings us also all the internet crap like casual players, CoD kids, Rhinowhinos, selfmade experts and all other kind of idiots.There is no way to avoid this and it will even get worse during the next months (after release).Beside this Rocket is going sometimes let's say very unconventional ways for a game developer which brings us on one hand such an awsome game but also more trouble and missunderstandings sometimes. because the avarage gamer is not used to this. Lets take the road screenshot for example...they made new road decals, new landscape tectures..better textures for the gras, improved the lod rendering and shadows etc etc and if you will be ingame you will for sure notice that the scenery looks much better than before allthough it is actually looking the same.... :blink: The devs can see this on the provided screenshot...most people of course can not (not blaming anyone) so we end up with fanboys posting "wohooooo this looks phenomenal"...other people posting "shit this looks like the mod grass, a road and trees like everwhere in Chernarus" and maybe a few thinking hmm nice new road decals will probably look awesome ingame later on.... -

some posts ago... I have to say that I really like the inventory as it is. Maybe they could use a better font but it looks very functional and that is the most important thing. Also having the different boxes transparent makes sense....this way you can watch your surrounding whilst fumbling in your inventory. -

Beside some disappointing facts I wasn't aware of (thx to Mr Voddo for clarifying) I have to say that I really like the inventory as it is. Maybe they could use a better font but it looks very functional :thumbsup: and that is the most important thing. Again :rolleyes: ... The DayZ dev team is providing a lot more infos and insights than most other dev teams out there. In fact infos are usually not given by the devs directly but by the publishers. Most of the time these are polished teaser vids or inteviews given to official gaming mags or at the big gaming shows. There are of course things that could have been handled better...no question..but did anyone ever see how the guys from Rockstar are doing their animations...did anyone ever saw an interview with the heightmap creator of Skyrim...did anyone ever disussed weapons stats with the lead designer of Battlefield ??? I don't think so. Yes it was chaotic sometimes and yes the sound quality of Matts micro was horrible :P and yes without Smasht we would have missed a good part of the show blablabla..but it also has been an awesome hell of a ride and now we do not want to screw up the last days before release with the same old stupid discussions...thank you. And for all these Dickheads and Rhinowhinos calling us fanboys...I am playing, modding and discussing games now since nearly 25 years....Go home to Kindergarden (youtube) -

If you have nails, wooden planks and a hammer (items) in your inventory you could interact with doors (scripted) and temporary barricade them. From the outside you would need for example satchel charges or grenades to destroy the door (or 10 minutes of hatching)...not that difficult. People that change servers simply should not spawn inside buildings....
