in this case... I really hope Rocket will implement all the flight controls, start sequences and stuff from ToH which would drive hopefully more players like you away from playing this game

in this case.....since I am no fan of the underground base building idea I would like see instead instances being used to extend the existing gameworld by adding them as "dungeons" like tunnel systems, underground facilities, caves amines, sewers etc etc...in fact they could add a complete new map...Chernarus underground....

very true.....this is what makes this game so special, it is made by a gamer and his team of lunatics :) but to hear Rocket talking about prison architect and other games he is using as an inspiration sounds for the ordinary casual player as strange as playing without auto healing and team speak... -

Engan ( DayZ fun adventures) and DDay Hollywood (live action series).... all other wannabe_soldiers_specops_snipers_ squadleaders_selfmade gaming experts narcists on youtube are pissing me off and ruining the whole thing by showing mostly casual cutted and scripted multiplayer gameplay that only has brought us all these CoD and Battlefield style type of players... -
Base building - Why is it so important to everyone?

Maybe we should find a definition and some purposes for base building first before discussing if base building will be an important. feature of the SA or not.. Why would people build bases ? Basic stuff : (can be already done ingame and could be easily enhanced by adding some nice game mechanics like barricade building (has been confirmed) or barricading doors and windows) 1. to store and hoard supplies ( in tents, vehicles crates etc etc) 2. to have a relative safe places for their vehicles ( will not work with undergrond bases btw) 3. access to fresh water supplies ( will be very important in the SA) 4. shelter from rain and cold temperatures including also fire places for cooking and boiling water ( could be very important in the SA) 5. fortification (against the infected and other players using barbed wire ,sand bags vehicles, tanktraps and all kind of barricades and traps) 6. setting up trading places ( could be cooler than trading via the forums or Reddit) 7. setting up quarantine zones ( could be very important in the SA ) 8. safe zones for events like masses for example (don't laugh it has already be done ) setting up trading zones, quarantine zones and events could work very well with the radio thing btw ! No need for fancy base building features and especially NO underground base building !! Advanced stuff : (stuff that could be implemented and added to bases ): 1. power generators 2. science labs 3. medical facilities 4. work benches This shit should be defenetely not placed all over the map but could simply be limited in different ways ( severwide or worldwide) to avoid server lags. As well no need for base building as a speical feature and especially NO underground base building. Instances should be used instead to extend the map and to build "dungeons" to explore. This could be caves, basements, bunkers, mines etc etc :) -

spent the first day completely with dying ( in so many embarassing ways :blush: ) and crawling (with and without broken legs) .... never had so much fun playing a game :D Edit : forgot to mention that the servers were that packed (the early days) so that I had to search for a new server every time I died -

...exactly...in this case if they implement a prison we should of course find some gear like riot shields and helmets etc...no further discussion needed :P -
Go and try to spawn 4000 zombies or npc's in your cry engine game world ( including scripts and working AI etc) ..add 150 player characters a few thousand items. and a few hundred animals....what do you think would your frame rate look like..I can tell you ..between 2 and 5 frames per minute...simply have a look at the current games using the cry engine...they are all using instances and fake lod areas..there is NO real open world game of that seize using the cry engine....for good reasons...

Sorry to correct you but they did defenetely not..they added Utes and Treasure Island to the existing heightmap that's it....and no it is not possible to build on this outside terrain because it is simply not there when you open visitor ( that is the BI tool for making maps).Of course it would be possible for them but I don't see that ever happen... cheers -

Chernarus is a 2048 x2048 map using a scale of 7,5. This gives us a playable map of 15360 x 15360 meters (225 km²). Everything that can be seen beyond this map ingame is so called outside terrain and is generated automatically by the game engine. This outside terrain can not be edited!!! To extend the map you would have to enlarge the original heightmap, sat map and texture map. The next possible (highest possible) seize would be a 3072 x3072 map using of course the same scale of 7,5. The result would be a 23040 x23040 meters map (529 km²). BI editing software (visitor) allows also to generate 4096 x4096 maps but even they avoid this size because it tends to be unstable (beside other problems). The better (only) and more realistic solution to expand Chernarus (green sea region) would be to combine different maps via travelling(teleport) scripts. -

as I said I've made the map already ..it has nearly the same seize as charnarus but no coast..no moutains..no airfields but a lot of waterways (lake river swamps) industrial areas, the entire city of pripjat etc -

So the way many people play this game seems to be more based on what they are used to do from other games ( or what is shown on youtube in some cases) than based on their personal background and social competencies...?? This would be also a good explanation for the kos mentality ... PS: sorry for being off topic but this game offers so much to talk about and I am really tired of reading the same stupid shit again and again ( don't know how the mods can handle that without getting pissed every day) -

good points :-) let's hope that we see more creative people on the servers than "used to Battlefield/CoC" players.... even the best game mechanics will not do the magic if there are no players willing to try new ways as well
