I've played 51 hours so far and there is still a lot to visit...can't understand why people crying for new content after such a short time..

Can't agree here. If we want to see the full potential of this game we all should act properly in good and bad situations as we would in real life which means trying to stay allive on all costs..

For Fucks sake ...there will be no updates until the devs return from their well deseved christmas hollydays..... Chernarus is an Armaverse post soviet state based on real life Czech Republc ( parts of it) . The provided weapon mix out of western and east european weapons is absolutely fine ! The M4 for example is used by forces of Poland, Czech Republic and Georgia and since Chernarus was designed to be an Nato ally the CDF would probably use Nato weapons beside their outdated soviet gear as many east european forces do.or did. Beside that this game is not about guns but about surviving and social interaction...sad enough that most people can not play games in any other way than shooting everybody on sight like in a CoD death match.... Adding more military weapons would make things only worse.... Last but not least something personal...3, person is still such an incredible pain in the ass.....people attacked me, trying to flank me or even killed me many times by obviously using 3. person peaking over walls and around corners...this sucks so much !!! STOP CASUAL GAMEPLAY

Yap and not only this but also disussing game design and mechanics always had huge impact on the game development.

As it seems you missed the complete discussion about weapons on the forums...most people want to see believable and realsitic weapons fitting the Eastern Europe/Russian background and beeing mainly focused on melee weapons and civilian firearms. Beside the current weapons we will see (afaik) a Mauser carbine, a 22 mm Ruger, a crossbow and of course the good old AK ..I personnaly think this will absolutely do it taking into acocount that every weapon can be fully customized...everything extra will be a nice surprise.

High priority atm should be server stability, performance and security, everything else that get fixed or added I consider a kind of nice bonus. There is no sense in talking about ballancing and stuff since major components like deseases, poisend and contaminated items, item degradation, survival aspects, working zombies and last not least large parts of Chernarus + are completely missing. Game experience will compeltely change over the next months,We should focus on what is imortant right now. Reporting bugs and discussing game features and mechanics but not trying to get things fixed asap just for our own fun.... cheers

This is so called "outside terrain" and is generated automatically by the game engine to provide some lod terrain ( landscape and a simple texture only) around the actual map. -

1. Early morning in Elektro ..some guy attacked me with a screwdriver...killed him with my shovel 2. short after that i was hatched to death by 3 bandits while investigating the new Cherno suburbs 3. some hours later in Cherno...some guy asked me to kill him ...he was down on his knees and I did him the favour 4. late at night ....Mexican stand off at the new military base nw of Kamenka ( creepy place at night) two guys..two M4's...no ammo :-) -

I've met only one guy with a gun so far...that was at the new military camp north of Kamenka. I had an M4 but no ammo, the other guy had a M4 as well and 3 single bullets. So we decieded to have a small chat instead of an extending firefight :-). However...during my first hours I was attcked only two times...one guy in Elektro attacked me on sight with a screwdriver ( Elektro has always been a strange place) ..killed him with my shovel...next run I was hatched to death by 3 bandits near the new Cherno suburbs... -

.I've played 13 hours today...no crashes , short loading times, very good ping. A good solid base for the coming fixes and improvements...worth every single penny !!! PS: the new military camp at night is creepy as fuck :) -

Very good point...characters that have survived for a long time could get some subtle small boni like beeing able to carry one or 2 kilos extra, being able to eat pet food without getting a bad stoach,,being immune to different deseases, making less noise when sneaking (avoiding zombies), better frost resistance etc etc I am NOT talking about stuff like better aiming, better melee ,faster running or taking more damage !!!! Maybe some micro skills for treating wounds or reparing vehicles and stuff like that. -

This game is about social interaction....trading points and markets, spreading deseases, radio stations, news papers, medical centers, slave markets etc etc etc. Limiting this to one server only would make a lot of the new features more or less obsolete and prevent possible interesting scenarios. Chasing the crazy axe murder on server x , visiting the market on server y and getting medical help from the trusted field medics on server z...I want to do this with my current character.Absolutely agree with Sensemann...multiple characters are an immersion breaking pain in the behind. -
:facepalm: ok since it never has been delayed I really hope that performnce optimization will take a few months more so that we will see all the basic stuff like proper sounds implemented for the first release but again ....that's just me ( and yes i know that I don't have to play the alpha)

When I suggested this summer to wait for the map improvments and some more content to be generated before releasing the alpha Rockets comment was "what the hell are you talking about".(on this forums). some more examples...Alpha release is a question of weeks...dayz alpha will be out before the end of this year....playable version should be out before Gamescom etc etc etc. The Alpha Release HAS BEEN DELAYED again and again and again for different and proper reason and there is nothing wrong with !

Oh and honestly....since I never was a fan of the open alpha idea. I am more than happy about the delayed release....I still would prefer to see an extended closed alpha test and then a beta release including most of the new content... but that's just me

To me it seemed, after watching the live stream, that they have slowed them down by using more the crippled run animations instead of full sprint anims. Probably the old sprint animation was just a placeholder ? A good mix of all kind of zombies would be perfect..You should never know what to expect. just my two cents

I think BI will get a huge benefit from investing into a proper DayZ develpoment ( and not rushing out an improved mod). Just think of the multiplayer features ( network bubble ...) medic system. melee combat, new skeleton, anims etc etc etc which they can integrate into their other games like Arma in the future. This way they can develop and test such features without any pressure and impact on their other releases. Beside that it was good to wait for a proper Arma 3 launch since we now get tested and improved features like the Arma 3 rain, fog ragdoll and physics for DayZ.SA ( sooner or later) cheers.
