btw arma 3 uses a lot of DayZ items...from cornflakes to water bottles etc (were implemented short before the release of Adapt)

No ...instead make Balota a civil airfield and remove the military camp from Zelenogorsk...ammo should be found on dead soldier zeds..military weapons mainly at crash sites ( helis, planes humvees, CDF Trucks etc etc) military bases like the NW Airfield should of course also spawn all kind of military gear and weapons but should be high risk areas swarmed by zeds...the big evac camps at the airfields should spawn medical and military gear but no or just a very few weapons...

Nice work Capn :thumbsup: but you forget to mention that allthough Chernarus became independent in 1991, Russia kept control over different miliary facilties.like the Lyutyi Island Naval Base ( Green Sea Fleet), Lake Beloe Radar Station. Green Mountain Communications Intercept Station and the Pavlovo Military Hospital Complex which was attacked by Chernorussian ultranationalists short before the outbreak. :)

no this is not true all the terrain outside the boarders of the heightmap is so called outside terrain which is generated by the engine automatically . This land can not be edited or used because it does not show in the editor...maps using the RV engines can not be just simply extended...the next possible seize would probably be a 4096 x 4096 heightmap using the same scale of 7,5 which would give us the seize of Altis...editing such a huge map would take years...not to speak about performance issues...

some technical details about maps.... South Zagoria which is our playable map makes 20 % of the shown map ( I would say even less). DayZ/A2 Chernarus is a 2048 heightmap using a scale of 7,5 which gives us a map of 15,36o x 15,360 km Complete Chernaus as show on the map taken from the Green Sea Project would be at least 5 times bigger = 76,800 x 76,800 km....Altis is 30,720km x 30,720 km ( same scale)

Again.... DAYZ is not using the A2 engine but it"s own engine mainly based on the ToH engine...A3 engine is based on the same old engine but has been upgraded to use for example DX10/11 . It is not an entirely new engine ! Both engines have their advantages and disadvantages, For example A3 provides defenetely amazing lighting and particle effects but still uses the old outdated skeleton from OFP, Both engines do not provide good pathfinding for Ai units inside buildings. This wiill be changed in DayZ in the near future by implementing the new navmesh system. I can imagine that A3 will use such improvments made by the DayZ team like they currently do by using the guarenteed messaging system for MP now. On the other hand DayZ team is working on stuff like 64 bit support DX10/11 support etc etc etc. taking benefits for sure from previous A3 work. -

As St. Jimmy stated without improved DX we will not see a drastical change ....same goes for the far distant trees or buildings...they cost a lot of performance ...so let"s hope for 64 bit DX upgrade and new render -

Did you know that the A3 team is now importing a lot of stuff from the DayZ engine ??? Probably the lighting and stuff is better in the A3 engine because of using DX10/11 but a lot of other things are even worse compared to the DayZ engine for example the new skeleton or the complete MMO MP architecture. So maybe go and get some infos before posting nonsense. -

I am not speaking about different climates...I am speaking about the number of trees . Chernarus is covered by forrests which has a huge impact on performance especially when it comes to lod or other said far distance view. The A3 devs clearly stated that this was a reason for using Altis as a new setting. -

Since Chernarus in opposite to Altiis have huge forrest areas I guess the devs have to use more low res lod modells for the trees to get a better performance. Probably changing to a 64 bit and new render system including DX 10 or 11 will change that in the future . -

looking down on forest ground ( best use 1. person) will give you mousewheel action "search for kindling" ...press F ...after a while you will get a message....
