When was that written? The date stamps on the posts say 'Yesterday'. If this is from back when the battle-eye bans went out then I'd say you have your answer about whether he's given up or not. -

So, I was browsing the Armaholic webpage, and what did I find? That's right, an Arma2 android app with an augmented reality target feature! You print out a provided image, tape it to the wall, and the phones camera tracks it as a target. Immediately I thought: DayZ IRL! Get a bunch of buddies together, print out a bunch the images on sturdy cardstock, pin it to your clothes, and go out into the woods with your smartphones. Distribute cans of beans and soda, toy guns representing guns in the app, bandages, etc. in 'structures' (cardboard boxes) across the 'map' (the area you decide to play in). When you pick up a toy gun, you are allowed to select that gun on your smartphone app, and use it. Some players are survivors, some are bandits, and some are zed. Costumes are encouraged. Survivors have to collect the beans. Bandits have to kill the survivors by sniping them from hiding places. The zed guard the structures, and have to kill the survivors and bandits by grabbing them. They can be shot by survivors or bandits. Rules would have to be drafted, and agreed upon, but this could make for some serious fun. Especially if played at night, with real road flares and flashlights. Oh, and because you'd be burning through your phone's batteries like mad, ammo would consist of AA batteries, which you would use to recharge your phone with one of those emergency recharger thingies.

I actually really liked the stream. It was nice to hear the intended direction of the game straight from the horses mouth. Quite inspiring really.

Summary: The Infection, nicknamed "The Zeds", passes on to all future characters until cured with antibiotics. EDIT: What if there were two sicknesses in the game? The first sickness is the regular coughing illness that you get from being out in the cold. This disease behaves as it currently does, and does not persist through death. The second is rarer, but also more serious. It is "The Zeds", or The Infection that created the zeds in game. It persists through death, and must be cured by antibiotics (possibly of a different type) The disease would be transmitted by all of the usual ways including player to player contact. In addition, looting an infected players corpse can transmit the infection, as well as prolonged exposure to the clouds of flies left over from players corpses (it's not a bug, it's a feature!). It might be interesting if player corpses lying adjacent to infected corpses had a chance to become infected, thus making them risky to loot. The reason it crosses to future characters is to keep players from simply respawning to avoid having to deal with it.

Ok... Anyway, I did some thinking about this concept earlier today, and I've revised my original post to reflect the changes I've come up with thanks to some of the helpful responses earlier in the thread. I think that it will be more palatable this way, though the people who object to the idea will likely continue to do so for the same reasons as before. The only difference is that there are now 2 diseases. The first disease is the regular old cough, and it does not persist through death. The second is "The Zeds", and is more serious and rare, and does persist through death. Sorry for the redundancy of repeating what is already written on the first page, but I wanted to point out that the original idea has been modified. Also, I think after our little detour a refresher about what we're actually talking about is in order. -
