For the first one, if you only have a limited amount of money, go for either. I hear someone will still be managing the DayZ mod when the game is released. DayZ mod will still be useable. I myself would go for the standalone.

Thirdperson for me is basically out 90 degree vision in real life, as firstperson in most games is 75 degrees or around that.

Aslong as you can't just run up to someone, ziptie/blindfold or handcuff them and they're stuck like that forever, I would love this if we have the ability to break the locks or something along those lines.

The Bandit one is kind of true, you can actually try to find a 'friendly bandit' (They only kill certain people like prebs) and try to convert their ways, a youtuber I know is pretty good at that.

I'm getting a computer next year, I'm wondering if DayZ/Arma2 works on windows 8? DayZ standalone is predicted to be the end of this year but since the specs aren't listed so I wont ask if it works on Windows 8. Pardon if this has been asked, I couldn't find it on the search.

If you don't want the journey, or you're a fresh spawn just kill yourself. If you aren't a fresh spawn, my best idea would find a car and fix it if you truely think it will take an hour or more to even drive there. Not much to do other than do the journey or kill yourself. ^Above me has a good point, if you don't have any problems along the way.

It's a nooby question I'm about to ask, but I'm curious. I'm getting a windows soon and I'm wondering, should I buy Arma2 Combined Operations from my local store, or Steam for a digital download? I'm not sure if there's any difference but I'm making sure. inb4 "you're a noob"

Trust no one unless you know them. If you find someone and they say they're friendly, keep them in your sight. A usual sign of betrayal is they tend to stick next to you, while you keep your distance, another is they usually aim down the sight of their gun alot. I would betray them depending on their character, did they just kill my friend, but he did say sorry? Is he showing signs of betrayal? If they seem innocent, I would stay with them and take a stab in the dark.

No. I don't see this fitting in at all. It's not an MMORPG. It may have some role playing elements if you decide to do that with your friends, but no. it is not.

Box makes an excellent point, however most likely not all boxes of painkillers only have one in a zombie apocolypse.

Just going to throw my beans in here. In real life, you basically have a 180 degree field of view, while your brain connects the gap inbetween your eyes. In DayZ/Arma, you only have about 70 degree FOV. In third person, in DayZ you get the same 180 degree feeling, atleast for me.
