  1. Seriously, in the last 24 hours I am seeing sooo many already crying and complaining that stuff is broken, or that something is missing, or not working properly. . Rocket specified milions of times that it was going to be a very early Alpha. . Alpha's are usually broken or buggy as hell, or both. . You are given a clear notice on the Steam page (Very obvious notice..) that what you are buying is imcomplete, and that it is there for people who want to help this game progress and give feedback. There are various posts here and on Reddit, and other sites, were people just don't seem to get it. It's no different to the ArmA 3 alpha. In fact, it's no different to any Alpha. The problem we now have is that 1000's upon 1000's have purchased this and are now surrounding the game in negativity and thats only within 24 hours. You asked for it. You got it. Now it's your turn to help, not to cry about it.
  2. Waaheey, servers gone active again! Expect to see me again Panda! :D

    Where are all the devblogs?

I've been going through half these posts on this thread and it's pretty fricking shocking to be honest.. Whether your with Dean or against him, whether you call about the SA, can people just calm down and actually discuss things? Half these posts are just people throwing words at each other hoping the other backs down, my honest opinion is that the forums are now just a cluster f*** because of the constant arguing over one game. Theres a good reason why I no longer pay attention to the forums, because of threads like this, but I just wanted to make my opinion. The SA is coming. Whether its next week or next year, it's coming. Just my two cents.. Now go enjoy yourselves.
  4. I was reading the other topic about dreams of DayZ and it got me thinking. How much does DayZ draw different people in? I'm talking about mentally, physically, emotionally.. Anything. Do you feel mentally worn out after a long session on DayZ? Have you ever got emotionally involved i.e Feeling scared, fear, paranoid, etc.. I'd be interested to know, DayZ is a very unique mod (That's right mod.. Not a game!) that draws people in more than what other games do. I can't count how many times my heart has been racing during a shoot out or when something sudden happens and I jump out of my skin. Yet I get into a fight on BF3 or something and I'm as cool as anything. Do you think it's down to DayZ involving the player more? Making you feel like you really are that person and you really are trying to survive.. I have been playing since September of last year, I have logged roughly 600 hours on ArmA II OA (Combo of ArmA/Wasteland/DayZ), yet getting into a fight still gets my heart racing even when I expect it. So what about you guys? How much do you feel DayZ involves you? Share your first experiences if you want, we all know how scared we were that first time.... ;)

Worst sins of Dayz master list

Duping gear for your clan? I think we are all guilty of that at some point.. ;)

Worst sins of Dayz master list

Betraying players trust in you. Especially new players. Way back when when I was a cold blooded bandit, I befriended a new player, only to turn on him by breaking his legs in the knowledge that he had no morphine. To this day I still have nightmares.....

    Still getting adrenalin?

I used to play on a server back in the Good ol' DayZ (See what I did there.....) and the server had 3 clans, including mine. One of them was pretty small but the other was about equal size and there was about 8 of us. We're hanging around Vybor when we were shot at by the smaller clan, lasted about 30 minutes and managed to kill them all. So we moved onto the airfield, there's a small hill on the Western side that overlooks the entrance to the airfield, we set up there and waited to see if anyone came along. What we didn't know is that the other clan (And at this point quite intense rivals) was no more than 200-300 meters in a tree line nearby, and at the south barracks too. **** hit the fan and the fight lasted for 3 hours across the entire area of the airfield, only two of us survived. My heart was pumping like hell throughout and the fact it lasted 3 hours had me mentally worn out! Everytime it went quiet and would kick off the blood started pumping and even that tiny bit of paranoia kicked in. To this day the same thing happens at the sound of a pin dropping. DayZ is like no other..

How Much Does DayZ Draw You In?

Nice guys, also good idea Wayze! WBK summed it up nicely. Long stretches of nothing and then an hour of something! The thing about DayZ is that if something out of the ordinary happens, I spend maybe 10-20 minutes checking the area, not moving, only to find nothing actually happened or no one is around. But it isn't a let down, because you'd do the same thing in reality, and the let down would be dieing. Even now after several dozen months of almost playing daily, it still amazes me how a mod can completely immerse you into what you're doing, get your heart racing, and make you scared of dieing in a virtual world. This is why I play DayZ in what I like to call the 'Original' way. I like interaction and helping others, as well as getting into fights, and setting myself objectives. I hate 24/7 daytime servers. I am lucky enough to be able to play on high settings, I'd much rather have a good looking, immersive experience than everything toned down just because it is easier to spot people. For me, I'll take immersion and experience over kills and equipment anyday.

Have you actually had a dream of DayZ?

I've had a nightmare about Origins after playing it with two friends for nearly 24 hours straight (It was a dumb challenge..). The mind can only take so much abuse it seems..
  10. Wasteland would be a pointless mod if there was no base building. Personally, I hate bases on DayZ, the whole Origins thing looks cool, but seems a waste of time IMO. I've always been more of nomad, just always on the move, no where is home. As for Wasteland though making a base is brilliant and really does bring out the creative and even somewhat strategic side of people. I get a kick out of having a group of us with a base, hoarding vehicles and weapons, shouting "Come and have a go if you think your hard enough". I've built 100's of bases in Wasteland and it never gets boring. A lot of people just plant a base anywhere but I enjoy really looking for places that have somewhat of an advantage and then building a base there. Example I once built a base on a flat plain next to NWAF, no hills overlooking it, no elevation. I had two depots next to each other, two small camps on the corners, and then long tall walls stacked on each other to give us double high walls. No one could get near us, it was brilliant, and the admins even took it as a template and used it as their AI base. I still enjoy getting a vehicle, throwing weapon boxes in there, and just go tearing people up, which I found is more entertaining in ArmA 3.
  11. Panda, do you guys have an Origins server as well? Unfortunatly I got bored of normal DayZ already despite it being x2 harder, good loot its still easy to find it seems.... But Origins adds so many new dimensions to DayZ, although I can't agree with the way Origins runs behind the scenes. :( Anyone played ArmA 3 lately? So much fun now it's in beta, can't get over how smooth and good looking it is. Wasteland is Oh So Fun!
  12. In DayZ, the party never ends... But yeah, watching YouTube DayZ vids (Especially a certain YouTuber...) will give you the wrong impression or higher expectations than what is realistic for a new player. On the other hand, watching streamers is much better. Raw, live, and unedited. Watch guys like Sacriel, Oshi7, and their sqaud. You'll pick up a lot from them.

Dayz Origins - DayZ of the future?

I'm on the fence with Origins. I love it, more than the normal DayZ mod. So much more to do, the map is huge and provides plenty of challenges, I much prefer the skin/humanity system, the base building is nice but I have always been more of a nomad anyway on DayZ. But then there is the reasons stated about Origins which puts people off, the money making and such. I don't agree with it, but I came back to original DayZ after a month of not playing, and got bored after a week. I had played Origins previously and as soon as I went back to that I haven't stopped. It's a difficult one for me. I disagree with the way things are done with Origins but the experience of it is double what normal DayZ gives me.

    DayZ Standalone Discussion

I'll honestly wouldn't mind waiting 2-3 months longer for SA at this point. DayZ Origins is keeping me happy at the moment, and the Steam Summer Sale is right round the corner, hopefully next week as that is my week off work.. Goodbye wallet. DayZ SA and Next-gen all coming out around the same period will silence me for another three years. Don't get me wrong, I'm going to love the SA, I'm sure of it.. But the I think the alpha gameplay lowered the hype a little, I think too many people we're expecting the finished product. I'd be willing to wait until October if thats how long it took to add the new vehicles in as well. If anyone is bored of waiting, try ArmA 3, add some mods to ArmA 2 like the ACE mod, or JSRS and Blastcore, or maybe try some new DayZ maps. And as I said Steam sale is about to drop, I think there is plenty to keep us occupied.

I like the new version, but

Dat Logic. One flaw in your post. 'Run around'. Don't want to get hit? Don't run around zombies. It's like when your taught about crossing the road, don't just run out there expecting not to get hit.

The Release Date for Dayz Standalone

A few years? What? So develop then leave it sitting there for 3 years doing nothing then release it? Yeah, sounds logical. Either you have not seen any gameplay or your just incredibly bad at predicting dates. I'll take the latter. Player made radio stations will be more community based for obvious reasons, the dev's will give them the platform at then it will up to people like use it, hence the applications they are taking in right now. Also the mod is going in the 'right' direction, I wouldn't call it great. As much as a like it, the feedback from majority of users will again turn the mod into the opposite of what some of us actually wanted.
  17. Honestly you can give as many tips on FPS as you want, ultimately people have different hardware and different setups so even if you tweak something that gives you 5+ FPS, it may not do anything for that person, which is seemingly why threads like this are actually starting to become annoying and somewhat useless. Only solution is to buy a new PC, as harsh as that sounds.

    Top 10 DayZ mod maps?

    1) Origins (I know it's Taviana but it's better than the normal version of it) 2) Chernarus 3) Lingor 4) Namalsk 5) Panthera

    1.7.* Infection WIP Update

I'm not afraid to speak my mind and this is certainly not exception, but personally, I feel there is only a small minority that can actually handle and play DayZ now. Notice how half of these people are going "Oh, i run around town, get hit, now I'm infected and I can't cure it". You know what? I hope they make either the mod or SA even harder.. Pure hardcore. Why? Because I'm sick of everyone complaining that the mod is 'broken'. No appreciation for the mods, given how much time they spend trying to develop something that was given to them, not developed by them. You guys want to try and make a perfect mod? Well go ahead, because theres no such thing. Fact of the matter is there are those who accept the flaws, adapt to the way the mod changes, and get on with it. I can say that in my first two weeks back in DayZ I have caught the infection twice (Running around like an idiot too..) but found a nice healthy supply of antibiotics. I'll sum it up for you. Don't like it? Stop playing and wait for SA, even though it will be even harder than what DayZ is now. If your not willing to accept the limitations and flaws of the mod, or not even give credit to the dev's for how far this has come, then personally you shouldn't even deserve to play DayZ. Once again.. Just my two cents.

    1.7.* Infection WIP Update

Maybe we should get rid of the infection and zombies, throw everyone a hatchet and lock them in a cage... Seems like a solution to me.
  22. RJTurneR

Do you hide bodies you come across?

I hide everything. Hero's, Bandit's, Zombies, Animals, etc.. The less people that know I have been in that area or nearby, the better. I like to remain incognito.
  23. So I've heard to no end complaints about the infection rate and there being no antibiotics, thing is.... I don't see the issue? I took a month hiatus from DayZ in anticipation the SA being close, but gaming has dried up this year with next-gen around the corner, so I came back to DayZ a week or so after the patch. SInce then, I've been infected twice. Yes.. TWICE. I play daily as well, infact I've played almost daily since September. And no antibiotics? I've found a healty supply all across the map. Is it a case of 'Should of gone Specsavers?' or 'Try looking?'. Honestly, in my opinion, there is nothing wrong at all with the latest patch. So, you may ask.. What in gods name is wrong with me? My answer. Nothing. My personal opinion is this. Far too many people still play the mod the same way they always have. Still seeing zombies as a mere annoyance in the game, not a threat. Now, the main way you catch an infection is by being hit by zombies, so surely the solution to the patch is.. Avoid the zombies! Now in fairness, DayZ is a mod, heavily scripted. Zombies are not perfect. There pathfinding is terrible and at times their senses are ridiculous. But still.. If people were actually willing to take their time looting, avoiding zombies, crawling, etc.. You'd find yourself becoming a lot less frustrated with catching an infection. Let me compare. The popular TV series The Walking Dead (here we go again...) in my opinion best reflects a true zombie apocalypse. Anyone noticed that as soon as anyone gets hit, scratced, bitten, etc, they get infected. Just like that. Sounds similar to DayZ. Sounds realistic. Can't imagine many people are going to walk that one off without proper treatment. The issue is the players. Like it or not, the truth hurts. People are not willing to change the way they loot, the way they play, they won't adapt. Know what? In a game like this, you have to adapt. It's the core of the game. The patch is fine. It's the players that need fixing. Just my two cents.
  24. The problem with the zombies is there ArmA AI. If you have ever played regular ArmA, you notice that the AI has zero ability nearly. They spend more time dodging bullets similar to that of the zombies rather than moving, flanking, shooting.. Which seems to why they all lay down after being shot at. It's a flaw with the zombies that can't ever be fixed, which is one of the big reasons why the SA was considered to begin with. I must admit I get annoyed sometimes at how hard it is to dodge these zombies or shoot them. I have always been of the more patient style of playing games. I'll wait it out for an hour if I've been shot at if need be. And I find this helps with zombies. I have a routine as well. Loot during the night (The server I use has part/full moon nights) and then scavenge from some small towns, barns, etc.. during the day just to keep you going. We play in a group as well which obviously benefits us greatly. If people thought rather than did, there wouldn't be 50 topics a day bashing the dev's or calling Rocket out. Play style is a huge factor in how you survive in DayZ. Everyone who was helped the mod has done the best job they can, it's not perfect, but it's good. They listened, now I feel it's time everyone else did their part, and thats play the game how it should played.

    1.7.* Infection WIP Update

I really don't get it. I've been infected twice since the update..? I've found a healthy supply of antibiotics too when looting. Zombies are a threat and so you should respect, which I do. I have not put myself in such a situation where I find myself being 'punished'. I am doing something wrong here..? Because I don't see the issue. And yes, I play daily, and I have played the mod since September. This is the best update yet IMO. Seems to be people hate change. Before there was no challenge which they called for, they change it and it's still not good enough, lets revert back to the PvP fest where zombies are nothing but white noise, an annoyance. Personally, this is my opinion and I expect people to disagree.. but personally I think it's a case of people not willing to adapt or change their loot run. You expect it to be easier in SA when zombies run in buildings, the tree/bush glitch doesn't work, and their pathfinding is much better? It's going to become harder on SA if anything. I personally see this as almost a taste of what to expect. I welcome change, and I welcome a challenge. To call the mod punishing is nothing new to be honest. In a way, the mod can be mentally exhausting at times depending on how long you play for and the way you play, as well as the challenges that come. It's what's so unique about DayZ. Thinking. Executing. To say punishing forces you to exploit the game is utter ****. Thats an excuse and anyone who comes out with that knows it. Anyone who 'thinks' they are being forced to exploit anything has a weird way of thinking. I know a lot of players including myself that get around just fine without cheating or exploiting, if people are going to start doing this because 'It's too hard' then I need to find a game with real players it seems. This ain't going to be laid out on a plate for you. Just my two cents.
