Are KOS kiddies cowardly and stoopid?
RJTurneR replied to Rastamaus's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Me and my buddies are more the neutral type. Really the only times we KOS is when: A) A player is headed towards our general direction, or towards where we are going too. B) A player is in the area of something worth looting, e.g. Crash site, dead players, that kind of thing. C) They are in an area that is usually hostile e.g. NWAF, Cherno, Electro, Stary. Any other time, we let players move along if they have seen us but have not shown any intention of firing, or are just running towards wherever they are going (With the exception of running we we are going). -
There are currently 3 clans on this server. My own, ZFG, then BanG, and MES. We are currently paired with MES after they saved our butts in Stary, and we both have regular run in's with BanG. The great thing about it is that it's not organised fights. This is two sides hunting for each other, running into each other, with pretty large firefights. We had a 3-4 hour fight with BanG last week at NWAF. We had just killed a 4 man group near Vybor who had fired on us, and then we heard BanG were near/at NW. We headed over and it is all out from then. Great fun. Side chat gets a bit heated at the time, but it's just a bit of banter and theres some mutual respect between us. There are a lot of regular players on this server too. Admin does a great job of running the server, and the server runs both BE and Anti-hack, and there has been zilch hackers since. The password is doing a good job of keeping out those somewhat smarter hackers, and it seems to build a better community too. 10/10 for this server.

Why did the DayZ players changed so much?(From friendly kids to backstabbing twats)
RJTurneR replied to privatewolf's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
^ I thought it was watch the world burn? ;) -
I don't bother asking now. I just watch them, see if they may pose a threat to myself or my friends. We are more neutral than bandit or hero. We're not your friends, nor are we your enemy.

Couple of tips from myself that I've picked up over the last couple months... . Tap Left CTRL twice to put your gun (Not have it raised). Can sometimes save you when coming across player in Cherno, Electro, etc.. Players don't like people aiming at them. . Don't be afraid. Seriously.. Don't. I recently followed a new player for 15 minutes in the dark, as he crawled all the way to Balota. That can't be enjoyable. Once you've got a hatchet or gun, zombies are just whitenoise. . To add to that, don't get attached to your gear. There's no point in playing the game if your just going to avoid any built up area. Your going to die at some point, so just have fun. Take risks. . I find that you can usually get yourself geared up within an hour. Balota, Cherno, Electro, etc.. You spawn quite near to all of these places, and you can usually find a Lee Enfield, a Makarov, and some general supplies pretty easily. . If your playing on a server that has night time, then use it your advantage. A lot of players seem to prefer these 24/7 daylight servers.. I hate them. Night time is great. Places like Cherno and Electro almost go to cease fire, so it's a great time to find some good loot. Plus your less likely to aggro zombies at night. I could come up with god knows how many other bits of advice, but I can't think of any more right now.

It can be bad enough with BE, without.. Not even worth playing IMO. You said you have already banned a lot of hackers..? Does that kind of.. suggest it might be a good idea to have BE, more hackers will just keep coming.

If the bandit skins are still in the standalone I'm going to be pissed.
RJTurneR replied to electroban's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think the -/+ 10000 humanity is a good idea, what might be even better is you slowly but surley look more like a hero or a bandit as you do the things that contribute to becoming either. For example, you kill 10 people, you obtain something that a bandit wears, then when you reach -10000 humanity, you are very easily recognised as a bandit, because you have all the pieces of clothing. -
Broke a fellow bandits leg in Cherno (Shooting at an unarmed player....), I said I would heal him, learnt your lesson, etc, etc... He said ok and had his med supplies in his backpack. So I took all of them, and left him there. I might be a bandit, but I will deliver justice! And last night, not exactly bandit-ish, but I followed a guy from Kamenka, to Balota for about 15 minutes, trolling him down the mic in a creppy evil wisper like voice. Poor guy was new to the game, flashlight and all. He even crawled for a good 5 minutes just to sneak past zombies, at night. Was a good way to get some pratice sneaking in a ghille suit. Despite shining his tourch right at me, he never saw me once. I finally revealed myself to poor guy, and gave him my M1911, and sent him on his way.

Like really .. Who cares? Ok I use the same terms, but I don't get butt hurt over it to the point were I must tell everyone on a forum. Let people call it what they want. -
What is you favourite Dayz video youtube maker
RJTurneR replied to Candylol's topic in New Player Discussion
Got into DayZ watching Frankie (Who doesn't....) but now I much prefer JackFrags over anyone. He really mixes things up, and people say his videos are just another perspective of Frankies, which yes some of them are, but for anyone who has gone through his channel, he has more variety than Frankie. His Hive Bandit series might be one of the best DayZ series on YouTube. His a great laugh, and what I really like is he has started putting background music in his videos, and he it really sets the mood for whats going in the video. -
I've had various amounts of good gear. Here's some.. - M107 - M14 (As primary) - M9SD - NV's - Binocs - Ghille - M4A1 CCO - DMR - Camo Clothing - Coyote Backpack - FN FAL NV in Heli (Swap out my M4 for that during night time( - NV's - DMR - MP5SD6 - Ghille - M9SD - Camo Clothing - M4A1 CCO SD - M9SD - NV's All of these are pretty recent, I usually have 2-4 severs that I'm active on. Some by myself, some in a group.

Why did the DayZ players changed so much?(From friendly kids to backstabbing twats)
RJTurneR replied to privatewolf's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Didn't change at all... It's the nature of the game, or even the way of survival. The game is about staying alive, gathering resources, etc... People mold the way they play on how they would treat such a scenario in reality. Maybe not everyone, but a lot of people envision it in such a way. Survival changes the way people think, even in DayZ, because people don't want too die. So they will do whatever they can to stay alive. People complain when players kill fresh spawns. Now, it's annoying.. Yes. But, if you let that guy go and he ends up picking up an Enfield, and kills you 10 minutes later, your going to wish you just dealt with him there and then. There are outcomes in this game. It's all down to the way you play it. -
Thinking of getting DayZ, need help
RJTurneR replied to tals975's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
In your case, wait till the stand alone. It will have more cool features anyway. Hackers are not too much of a problem if you can find a private hive with more active admins. And if your going to get the most out of this game then you most likely be playing for hours at a time. I usually get home from work, have some food, and if I'm not doing anything else socially, I usally play till around 11:00-12:00 (With short breaks). So I'm usually averaging 4-5 hours. -
Me and my buddy sat on up the Cherno sniper tower for about 2 hours last night.. Just killing anyone that dared enter Cherno. Best tip? Don't feel bad when doing it. Just kill the guy, and move on. Between us, we killed about 8 guys. 2 of those kills were the same guy. After some time, I had my buddy keep me covered with his enfield while I went around Cherno, constantly grabbing loot, looting bodies, and killing anyone that my buddy couldn't see from up top. Funniest one had to be the guy who tried to get revenge with an M1911. Now I had an M4A1 CCO SD, and an M9SD, plus NV's. I was on top of town hall, and heard him climbing (A dumb mistake to begin with..) And as he couldn't see me, I just hid for about 5 minutes. He obviously went up there thinking I was still there, then started looking over the town for me from the roof. I felt 5 minutes was long enough.. So I rolled behind him (Baring in mind he couldn't see anything because he looked right at me at one point). Then I re-considered. I rolled back and threw a flare off the roof from behind me. Next up? The spooky sounds down direct channel. "Death from above......" Best thing I have ever said to creep somebody out. As soon as I said this, my buddy killed him. Waaaaay too much fun.

Poll: Which gun is best in which situation?
RJTurneR replied to Science Jelly's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So you use it in the following situations.... . You've entered a building, let's say an apartment building in Cherno or Berezino. You have aggroed a couple and they have now entered the building and have you trapped. Given how the AS50 is great in all situations, you don't even bother using your sidearm and just use your AS50. You now have every single zombie in the town, entering your building. Nicely done! . It's night time. A sniper has seen you and shot at you with a DMR. You try to get to a good position to kill him.. but OH WAIT! You can't use your AS50 with NV's, but he can with his DMR. The result? Your dead. I'd re-consider 'All situations' buddy. M14/FAL/M16 are some of the best non-sniper weapons that can be used in a variety of situations. Lee Enfield, considering it's so easy to find, actually might be one of the best in the game. I sometimes keep my Enfield, rather than take an AK I just found. I'm currently using an M4 CCO SD, and I think it's actually surprisingly good. I've managed to take players down with just 3 rounds (If you hit the right spots), and have taken players out from more than 200+ meters away. Sometimes.. It's not the gun, it's the guy holding it. -
. Meeting a guy in Electro, letting him tag along, killing him once we got into the forest. . Sitting on the tower with my buddy for almost 2 hours, killing everyone in Cherno during the night. . Killing a fresh spawn because he was annoying as hell...... . Walked up behind a guy, shot & broke his leg, took his morphine out of his backpack & left him there.

RJTurneR replied to mindspike's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Stevie, was you online last night? If so, what was up with the guy who was called "Radio" and kept talking in side chat, as if he was hosting a radio station. Innocent fun I guess, but it's a little bit distracting when a guy is in side chat every 30 seconds for about 2/3 hours. He'd be better off with a YouTube channel for that sort of thing. Kind of like that Cherno Journo. Anyway, this is actually THE best server I have played yet. Lots of vehicles which is nice. Plus there is always players on. Keep up the good work! Will you be hosting a server when the stand alone comes out? -

Really like this server, only had problem with a hacker but was dealt with it seems. Apart from that, really enjoying this. -
Yesterday was epic. Meet a new friend in a server with 100+ vehicles. After arriving in Electro via boat, we looted and then found a VW Golf sitting on the docks so we quickly fueled up and got out of there and headed north. That thing does like.. 105mph! After two close calls with a heli, we bombed it as quickly as possible, but then we had to stop. Why? Because we had 3 crash sites within a mile of each other. We hid the car, flanked round the first, when as a I turned around.. crap. I thought I was seeing things, but I told my friend to dive in this bush, and got a quick glimpse at a sniper on the road. The blew up our car and surrounded us. There were only two in sight but I knew there was at least 3-4 of these guys. Stupidly, they had aggroed the zombies from the first crash sight and the one not too far away. So that gave us an opening and we legged it. We reached the second heli and managed to grab a M249. But as we reached the third.. bang. Both sniped. So we left that one to join a less hostile one with another friend making 3 of us. I had already started a character on this one so I had a lee enfield and a ghille. Two of us headed to Cherno to loot it and then made our way to our friend on a rescue mission. After that, we decided to head north, loot everything we came across, and hopefully reach the NW airfield. On the way we found another crash sight. Rather than get greedy, we spent 5 minutes checking the area, and another 5 moving into position. My friend crawled his way to the heli while I hid in a bush (Ghille) covering him, and my friend took the high ground. 10 minutes later we were done and continued to the barracks. Raided that, then flanked round the right to the hangers. Found 2 dead bodys, and a I grabbed and a MP5SD and put it in my bag. I sat up top on the control tower picking off aggroing zombies, then we legged it out of there, hid, and called it a night. Came across a lot of new spawns/new players yesterday too. On my way to Cherno from Balota, I found 3 spawns within 5 minutes of each other all dead, one running away from a horde of zombies who in no way would of survived, and came across another waiting for a friend who was very friendly. Came across another two players in Cherno who didn't try anything as I had an enfield. The most intense part was in Electro. Came down the hill towards the fire station on the western side, when all hell broke loose. At least 4-5 players in a firefight. I hid for about 10 minutes and headed north slightly towards a barn to grab some stuff, then headed back. I reached the super market were I came across a bandit who luckily enough need blood, so I pretty much blackmailed him for my own life. Found a dead body out back, and 3 dead bodies in the street. After a heart pounding few minutes, I had managed to loot them all. Looted the hospital too, and came under fire from an AK as I headed away, which I survived.

How do you control your DayZ Rage?
RJTurneR replied to Derpy_Hooves (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I find it hard to imagine that anyone can get rage when it comes to DayZ. Some games your bound to get a little angry, some games your not. I only find I get angry with fast paced games like your Battlefield's, Call of Duty's, or even as someone else mentioned, games like FIFA or Madden, because it's just constant action and you get caught up in everything. Games like DayZ, I find are very.. relaxed. There is never much going on at one time, it's usually pretty quiet, and when something does happen, you need to stay on top of things anyway, unless your already dead, but even then you just got to accept that your going to die in this game. I swear a bit but I just do that naturally, even when just generally talking. -
WARNING: Don't update Arma2 via Steam, possible hackers
RJTurneR replied to Sula's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I did this update, then while playing DayZ the game must of crashed at least 5-6 times. Before it was fine. Now having to re-install Arma2: OA. -
Well, just called it a night. My third day is in the books. Very interesting day as well. Logged back in where we were still in Staroye and decided to head north west through Guglovo to Stary. Got some really good loot. Both of us had the best backpack's (Forget the name), so we stocked up on bandages, food, drink. Then looted the barracks near the NW airfield where I managed to pick up an M16 which I put in my backpack as I already had a AKM. Before that though I spotted a heli crash site by the first hanger. Now it took us a good 10 minutes to decide on whether to go for it, and checking it was clear. So we flanked right, got in the hanger when some aggro zombie set all his buddies off. After a 5 minute massacre, we headed out to heli, found an M14, but before we could grab it.... I spot a heli. We hid behind the crashed heli for a little before dashing back into the hanger. Too late. The heli started firing at the hanger, we said friendly, but nothing. They finally surround us and killed us. We had a hell of a lot of gear too. So then we spawned and met in Electro, raided the fire station, grabbed a lee enfield from a barn and head west-north west again. I got messed up by some glitch, ended up with low blood, and a broken leg. Luckily we were near cherno. So I crawled to the top of a hill and kept watch while wounded, and my friend grabbed supplies from Cherno. After that we called it a night. Tomorrow I hope I see those bandits again, they will get what's coming to them...

So my first two days of playing DayZ have gone a lot better than I imagined. Decided I was going to join a private hive server, and I ended up spawning just outside the small medical camp outside Balota Airfield. (Had to resort to an online map) I guessed there would be some pretty dam good loot in there, so I managed to sneak in past the zombies, and climbed up a small lookout tower to find an AKS Kobra. Then I found some mag's for it in the other tower, and a bunch of other supplies. Unfortunately I had disturbed the zombies and ended up with a broken leg. Luckily some guy in a ghille happened to be near by and helped out, and then left. I then headed over to the airfield, which turned out to be very active at the same. Right of the bat I saw one guy in the distance, then heard a load of AK shots. Then I saw the outline of a guy running towards me who turned his flashlight on. Unfortunately he saw before I could hide, but he turned out to be the guy in the ghille from before. So we teamed up and headed over to the hangers to find a guy dead, who had an AK, so we guessed someone had killed him or he was overrun by zombies. I managed to get a few supplies, NV's, and a GPS off him. From there we had a clean run to Cherno, although we knew there were guys heading to Cherno from the North, plus there were a lot of gun shots coming from Cherno. We managed to sneak in, only to be fired upon by a guy from the supermarket. We managed to deal with him, and in the market we discovered a hackers loot. A box full of almost every single item or gun in the whole game. I grabbed a ghille, and we both grabbed DMR's, and M9SD's, and plenty of food, drink, and other supplies. Cherno started heating up so we destroyed the hackers box, and headed out to Electro to find a car. Before we got to Electro though, we were killed. So a pretty busy first day for me, and a lot learnt. Second day was just as good. Started of at Otmel, and legged it all the way to Cherno, taking a wide berth round Electro, in order to meet up with my buddy I met on the first day. Instead of heading in to Cherno we went back to see if we could fix up a car had seen on the way there. It was busted though. We looted a small town, and headed into Electro we I had my first hostile player experience. As soon as we entered Electro, shots were fired near us and so we legged it to the other side of Electro, with the player attempting to chase us from behind. We hid in a small bus shelter outside the fire station on the east side of Electro. We saw the player but he headed back. We then met up with another player, looted the fire station, got some good gear, and then we headed off to a long journey to Staroye. On the way there we came across another player who we just avoided and let go. We looted a couple of places, looted Staroye, and then at that point it was about 2:20am so we all disconnected. Loving the game so far. In two days I've learnt how to use a K&M (Console player 95% of my life), and I've got the know how as well know. :D
