  1. I turn off Post-Process Effets full stop. Make the game look horrible and blurry. Pretty much everything else I have set to High though and run 60FPS average on DayZ. I keep V-Sync on, nothing worse than recording and having mass amounts of screen tearing, which V-sync stops. I personally hope some of the graphical settings are locked in place, nothing worse than yourself laying on long grass and on the other persons screen your just laying in an open field with low grass, ruins the whole thing. I don't want the settings to stop others from playing if their FPS is too low because of it, but I also don't want the experience and 'equalness' to be ruined, I expect myself to be on a level playing field if I'm hiding from someone.
  2. I'd like to see Taviana make a return on the SA. Something like Atlanta in The Walking Dead would be cool, location where the military attempted to hold out but failed. I like the idea of Chernobyl, zombies, mutant zombies, mutants, etc.. What about somewhere like Rio in Brazil? The infection ripped through the slums spreading into the city, and the map can could include some jungle here and there, would be fun.
  3. Not sure if serious.........? Console gaming is far from dead, I have had every Playstation, plus the 360, and now have my own built PC. I can still say that console gaming is still a lot more fun, quick to pick up, and there is arguably a bigger audience for consoles due to them being the cheaper, easier to use systems. I could write 50,000 reasons as to why anyone who writes such statements is so far from the truth but I do not have a spare 2 hours.

DayZ in a way, has ruined gaming for me!

Up until next year I was an exclusive console gamer. Now my PS3 just sits there... Lonely, with a sad face.. :( DayZ helped me explore into PC gaming. Just like a lot of other people, DayZ/ArmA was the first game I played on PC after watching so many videos on it. I started playing in September, and built my own PC in January, I now have an arsenal full of PC games. Holding a controller feels weird now. To be able to record my experiences with no hassle or messy setups is a huge bonus too! :D

What is your favorite troll on DayZ

Following people in a ghille suit while talking in direct in weird voices, quite entertaining. I used to play with a soundboard assigned to certain keys... Playing predator noises down direct, brilliant!

    DayZ (SweetFX v1.3)

I tried this but it made the game look.. Worse and weirder for me, nothing like what was in the screenshots. Not sure if I have to change anything (Did try brightness/gamma but no difference really..). Shame.. Makes the game look awesome from looking at the screenshots. Combine this with JSRS and Blastcore, ArmA/DayZ would like and sound 10x better!

    Night time gameplay

Majority of the post above I have to disagree with. You can not say real life circumstances, why? Because no one in the world has lived through or lives in a zombie apocalypse. You can't say what you would do if one would occur as well, no one knows what they would do in any situation like that until such an event occurs. But lets say if one did occur though. DayZ is based on surviving. This includes finding supplies, equipment, and other things in order to acheive this. It also includes the chance of finding other people, whom you do not know if they will kill you or let you live. So taking that into account, I'd say looking at it from a logical point of view, that looting and such during the night is much safer than day time, especially as you say that zombies can not tell you apart from human or zombie during the night, which we also wouldn't know becuse.. Guess what? We don't live in a world full of zombies. Watching The Walking Dead does not count... Moving and entering high risk areas during the day, leaves you open to being killed by other people, or zombies. So night time is pretty safe if you look at it that way. And is this a game, I would think it would be pretty difficult to put into the game a way of your eyes adapting to the night time. I'm no game designer.. But I just imagine it being something difficult to pull off. And adjusting your gamma and brightness is a poor excuse in that regard, it's an exploit of the game, because you have to look at the fact that there are players that play the game for the immersivness and the experience, and then the players that don't pay much mind to such things and do whatever they can to assit themselves, the gamma exploit being one of them. It ruins the experience of the mod for those who play it legit and properly. And don't say "Well why don't they just do it as well..", because that just ignores my point. Nightime is fine. ArmA is based on realism and DayZ is a mod of it, so if there was any fault you want to point the finger at the ArmA engine. But seeming as ArmA is based on realism, and DayZ is a mod and soon to be based on a updated engine, then night time will remain in the game no matter how many people complain and whine about it. One thing I will agree with is shorter day/night time, purely because the amount of people that play the game across the world. Something like 6 hour day/night would work well, then it gives everyone a chance to experience both day and night. Maybe the solution is for people to play DayZ with their light on in a room.. If their that scared.

    Hero-Bandit system gone in SA?

As far as I am aware you will be able to wear whatever you want, as you can pickup different bits of clothing. If this is the case, is the Hero/Bandit system already gone anyway? Or is it going to be specific bits of clothing you can wear depending on your humanity? I think getting rid of the whole thing will help, people have their own set way of dealing with certain playstyles i.e. If they see a bandit.. Lock N' Load, etc.. If people had their own unique clothing I think people would think about the way they dealt with players more, as they won't be recognisable as a hero or bandit, it will come down more to what gear has he got, is it worth me killing that person, what benefit do I get from killing him, is that players a threat, etc.. It's a better concept than "Oh look, a bandit.. Bang!" "Oh look a hero.. Bang Bang" "Oh look a fresh spawn.. Miss!"

    Night time gameplay

Flares provide realistic amount of light. 85-90% of other games, you play a mission or a multiplayer map at night.. But its not really night time, its just spruced up with other effects (See BF3 for example). Night time on DayZ is as good as it gets, those who don't like it should stop playing. The servers that make it 24/7 daytime are horrible IMHO. Whats the point in removing a main element of a game.. Infact, no, removing something that actually happens IRL every night! I love playing night time, even if I can't see anything, its immersive and realistic. If your in the country side at night time in real life, with no moon light or artificial light, you won't be able to see much. Thats how it is in DayZ, and that is how it should be, and should stay. Not to mention when the server starts to get dark, a whole new challenge opens up. People start to take more risks, looting high risk areas for the hope of a big reward, weighing that against the fact that they shouldnt be seen. The reason DayZ turned into a cluster of KoS players, is because majority of servers removed night time. I can see people struggling to play the standalone, because its challenges are too much and unlike the mod, they most likely can't change anything.

    Where is our community headed?

The great thing about DayZ is it feels like everyone is equal. Majority of developers really pay no mind to the people, they call the shots, and the community continues to go through negative experiences. With Rocket and the team, it feels like they are just like one of us. They love games and they love DayZ, they have a vision and want the game to be great, not just do whatever makes them money. They are willing to listen, and I think everyone feels like they have had some input on the mod at some point. The mod, for me, is essentially done. Add whatever you want to add to it, it's difficult to overcome the limits of it being a mod of a game. People will still treat it as large deathmatch. But thats where the servers and the admins of those servers come in. They have added so many different, unique, and fun things to their servers, and have built a community within a community. The community will remain strong and generally positive IMO. It won't be too long before we are all back here, talking like it was our first day playing the mod again! :D

    '' Core community '' ?

Because Wasteland is more difficult, large groups rolling about with heavy armour and large amounts of weapons.. DayZ is easy for these KoS players, single targets with no resistance. Go figure.. <_<
  12. Yeah, i might give it a go, I wanted to try that DayZRP but the whitelist is stupid long, like waiting to be a season ticket holder, with it being so near to the 'hopeful' release date its not worth waiting to be whitelisted. But there is something about travelling several hours across different parts of Europe in your own truck that is somewhat satisfying... B)
  13. It will be out on PC.. Rockstar couldn't throw away the sales! ;) Me and DayZ are like one of those awkward relationships right now, even when things are going well, theres still some friction there. I play on this and another and we managed to loot a whole clans gear the other week on this 2nd server, but I still feel like not playing DayZ sometimes. I must admit, Euro Truck Simulator 2 is doing just fine for me right now. Seriously, try that thing. Addicting as hell!

Want free stuff? PAY 5 DOLLARS.

Although I do agree with Orlok on people can pay for what they even if they are fools for doing it, it's the servers that do ask for donations in such a way that concerns me. I play on a server who accept donations and puts that towards making the server better, be it hardware, a better website or whatever, and they back that up with proof, winning people's trust. They recently put together a brand new dedicated server because of it, that gets rid of a lot of connection issues and makes the experience better. Lets be honest, half of these servers that accept donations and give gear in return have no evidence they are putting that money to good use. Infact, it's the mainly the ones that do give out gear for donations. It ruins the reputation of a once difficult, exciting, and unique game, and labels it as a game were all you have to do is Pay2Win. I've never had issues with how things are run on private hives. It's all about looking, picking, and trying. But I almost think there should be a regulation behind it. Some 'official' system. I'm not going to accuse anyone of anything, but some servers just have this 'reputation' and who knows were the donations are going..

    '' Core community '' ?

The point about Sacriel is completely stupid. There are 2 main reasons why we and the squad play on a PvP basis. 1) Zombies are a non-factor, the mod has dried out, everything has be done. The only thing left to do is PvP 2) He streams. He needs to ensure his streams are entertaining. Theres no point in recording a game if nobody is interested, theres no point in streaming if your not going to do anything. If you want the standalone to be purely PvP and zombies be an 'extra', may I please refer you to BF4.

Want free stuff? PAY 5 DOLLARS.

Don't worry about it, some people here try and focus the issue on the user, rather than the actual issue at hand. Look on the bright side. These admins that ask for donations, the people that pay for them.. They are most likely going to be the guys who suck or who are constantly struggling on standalone. Why? Because there is no easy way out, no easy endgame. Ever noticed these people who donate or hack always have AS50's? It's because its the easy way. AS50 is OP and the easiest gun to use in the whole game. When they start playing standalone and realise the best weapon they will find for several hours is an axe, they will start crying. And they won't have anyone to help them, because as far as I am aware, there won't be the ability for admins to script in weapons, etc, etc.. Anymore. I don't mind donating. But I don't anything back in return. What i would like is for the admins to continue building there server up, maybe buying better hardware, making more events, adding more things to the map. Thats what brings people back, is the experience. And honestly, to be an admin, I think people should need to pass some form of IQ test. Maybe even provide some ID. Would stop the idiots from running servers all the time.. (Not actually serious about the ID thing....)

Want free stuff? PAY 5 DOLLARS.

I hate as much as anyone else does. But it's not the admins that ruin it, its the people that actually donate for the gear. Why? I remember hearing a story about some admin who did the exact same thing, asked for donations, gave gear, etc.. A few months later, he closed the server down and rumours emerged he had mad 1000's of these people. The world is full of manipulating people, and if your dumb enough to donate to these people, then they deserve to be ripped off. Honestly, who donates for virtual gear? Idiots.. Apparently it's easy to convince your parents to give you permission to use their credit card now.

    Anyone else agree?

It's all about Quality, not Quantity. Release some screenshots of the architecture...? Because thats the main goal at the moment, the map/game is just having small tweaks.
  19. Seems the 'Stand Alone' aspect of this thread has been covered... In regards to console. No.. Just no. Games like this don't belong it that market, full stop. DayZ will in essence be an MMO, a massive online world in which players can interact with each other. Ever noticed the majority of games like that are on PC? I'd rather Rocket ignore the amount of people calling for it to be on PC and just stick to his guns, don't ruin what he and the community has going.
  20. I play both here and on another whitelisted server, I rarely is there ever an incident of any sort on either. Sometimes it's full, other times there will be like.. 5 players. It's just the way it is right now. People still want to play DayZ but not like they used, which was almost 24/7. I must admit, If I play several hours one day, the next I find myself just not being bothered to play it. On another topic, I received my Blue Yeti Microphone yesterday and daaaaam its good. For £95.00 it's brilliant. Better than some £300 odd one, the quality is great, so clear. Now I just need to setup a way of recording/streaming my console, and ol' RJ here is going to be famous! :P
  21. Let's be honest.. The infection in DayZ is no different to the one in The Walking Dead. The way it happens might be different (No one knows how it truely occured as far as I know..) but have you actually noticed that the Zed's are as decayed already as the ones in The Walking Dead? Just look at their faces.. They are just shells. Not people. Not dead. You can pull both their legs off, they will still come at you. Remember one bullet to the head. Another to be sure. Double tap. ;)
  22. Screw the .50's and Lapua's! Give me a CheyTac Intervention! I want one of those for my birthday.. <_<

    Best DayZ YouTubers

JackFrags, his content is similar to Frankies but with more real gameplay and his a lot funnier, plus the some of his other content (BF3, CS, etc..) is also very good. More of a competitive gamer. 'The Squad' as its known, they are all pretty good.
  24. I will try and keep it short & sweet, but .. well that never happens! Essentially, I am hoping to get a few good guys (And girls!) together, at least 6 of us. There is already 2 of us, myself and my friend, who have been playing this since September, so we are well 'seasoned' so to speak. The reason I am looking to build a small squad is simple. DayZ can be a numbers game sometimes. I used to roll around with in a medium sized group, a good 10 of us or so. We got into our fair share of clan fights, but at the same communication was difficult sometimes, and we didn't always see eye to eye. This is why I am asking for mature players, preferably 18+. No offense to those younger, it's just my experience of things. I want to keep it to about 6 of us, as generally speaking, it still keeps communication easy and clear. What I am looking for.. - Experience. I don't mind showing new players the ropes, but I am not here for that. - Good Communication. When we get shot at, everyone needs to know where from, maybe how far, and if you have a compass or you are generally good with directions, the compass reading. Things like using reference points as to where someone is, is always useful i.e. Right of those two tall trees, next to the orange bush, just past that blue house. - Reliable. Similar to comms, during a fight, if we need to rely on a individual, then that person needs to be reliable. Even if you get killed in the process, it's about doing the best you can. - Instincts. Sometimes you need to cut it alone, think you can? - Make the Right Choice. Is it better to shoot that guy on sight? Leave him be? Help that guy along his way? - No Language Barrier. Being from the UK/EU is preferable, but as long as you speak English, good. - Mature. Kind of explained this. I have had experiences when people drift from the game, into off-topic, or just don't work with you. I'm all for casual banter.. Infact, I'd rather keep it that way. But theres a time and place for everything. That may seem a lot, but I'd rather leave more on the plate than what there really is. It's just so anyone who reads this knows what to expect at times. We're (The two of us) are very friendly, and have a lot of good banter. So don't feel scared. We regularly record (Although my friend plays on a laptop so his 'limited'). But I plan on starting up a new YouTube channel when the standalone gets here, as that would be my main form of content to record, I also would stream on Twitch too. If all goes to plan, there may be some exposure there. It won't be just DayZ we play. I play a lot of my PS3 as well (Soon to be PS4), and there are some other games here and there we play. So.. if you ain't already tired of reading this, then see what you think, PM me if you want, and I'll give you my Skype. We currently use that as there is only two of us, but I have rented a TS3 server in the past with plenty of space, so more than willing to do that. Hey.. have some beans! :beans: :beans:
