Better performance, but at what cost?
RJTurneR replied to Felixthefriendlycat's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
My line of thinking exactly. I am fortunate to have a good enough income that allowed me to build my own PC, and that will allow me to continue upgrading it hopefully. But I can understand a lot of people are quite restricted in terms of their budget or the ability to build a PC, etc.. Not all of those people complain though, my friend plays on a laptop, it does the job, not that well but at the same time he doesn't complain about it because he loves the DayZ for what it is. There seems to be a majority that want developers to take them into account, and start making crappy looking games leaving those who invested and such on an island wondering what to do with their i7's and 700 series. We are heading towards the next generation in games, meaning new hardware will be hitting the market, new engines will be made for shiny new games, meaning that these games will lean towards being made to look almost real. Some people suffer from this, those that don't have the hardware to deal with it, but at the end of the day.. Whats new? It's the same arguement for years now. -
Free DayZ StandAlone TeamSpeak @ 37.187.195.75 - ZombieWorld.eu -- SA Server is up !!!
RJTurneR replied to U.G.N - Jedi Panda's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Shall be jumping on today as it's my day off work! Feel like I've bought new life to ArmA over the last few days, so many mods! Been playing with JSRS, Blastcore, ACE mod, etc.. And it has become the single most realistic, most difficult game I've played. Would recommend downloading some of these mods to anyone! (Not for the weak hearted) -
http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=11339 Everything you need, right there. . Realistic in game radios. . Connects with TS3 in a push-to-talk type method. . Have different radio channels depending on how many channels you have in TS3 i.e 3-4 different channels would be set to different frequencies. Keeps the ability to talk across map while bringing more realism to comms, also stops teams from speaking over each other in firefights, something I have experienced one too many times.

Fair enough, just making suggestions! :) Your ears will never be the same after playing with JSRS and Blastcore! -

Hey Panda, I see you guys are looking into JSRS. If possible I'd also recommend Blastcore alongside that as well. Me and my friend were playing some normal ArmA last night with both mods installed, the fights were x2 more intense, and the guns and visuals almost put the game on par with ArmA 3! -

I feel a weekend of DayZ coming up, got my PC all back up & running, three SSD's has made it super sonic!! :D On a side note, anybody hyped up for next-gen? Gaming this year (Outside of the SA hype) has been dry as... Infact I won't say that. -
Look up SweetFX, gives the game much better colours and such. Although it didn't want to work for me, but the screenshots like brilliant. Also look up such mods like JSRS and Blastcore. JSRS makes the sounds much better, and blastcore pretty much makes explosions and such look a lot better. Combine SweetFX, JSRS, Blastcore, and the Acemod, you'd have a almost modern ArmA.

. Bullet drop, look for where the bullet lands, adjust, fire again. . Learn to use which fire modes to use in certain situations. . Go intro controls and on the left hand side turn smoothing off, allows you to aim much quicker and sharper horizontally and vertically. . If you are able to adjust your DPI on your mouse, do so. The quicker the response, the better. (Combine this with smoothing off) . If your on the run and need to return fire, find cover, and lay down. Your breath recovers much quicker this way. . Know the strengths and weakness' of your weapon e.g. M4A1's are only effective up to ranges of about 400m. . Patience, dont rush the shot, one bullet at a time. . If you can learn how to, moving side to side while aiming is a big plus. Some people think it's a cheap tatic, but whats the point in making yourself static? The more mobile you are, the less chance of being hit there is.

Some people really are just dicks.

Always use the 10 second rule. If they don't drop their gear and talk in that 10 seconds.. Start unloading hellfire at them. -
People who communicate through side chat, and I don't even mean VOIP. I mean typing.. Seriously, the amount of noob groups that start communciating to each other through side is somewhat entertaining. I can't count the amount of times a few guys have been going "Oh, lets go here" "A heli here guys". 10 minutes later I or someone else would turn up and slaughter them, and they are left wondering how they were found there. Also people who won't even take a breath after they have been killed and shout hacker almost as if it was natural.. In fact it is most likely natural. This is why I appreciate being able to record in high quality. Nothing better than some idiot shouting hacker, and turning around and saying "Want to see what happened? I recorded it!" All of a sudden they stop talking...

DMR+Crosshair ON IS cheating, no matter how you look at it
RJTurneR replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't see the point in this thread really.. Some servers have crosshairs, some don't. Some people use crosshairs, some don't. Some people use DMR's at close range, some don't. No cheating to be had here, if it was cheating, it would be taking advantage/exploiting/hacking the game, which this is none of those. -
DMR+Crosshair ON IS cheating, no matter how you look at it
RJTurneR replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Agree with p4triot, years of experience will always count for something. Playing countless games with and without crosshairs will almost allow you to picture your own crosshair on the screen, and so its gets to the point were you know where you need to be aiming when not aiming in. As for the point about DMR being a sniper, and hence should only be used as a sniper, that is completely not true. The DMR is very similar to that of the M14/M21. Add a longer barrel and a scope, that's all. It is an extremely versatile weapon on ArmA that can be used at pretty much every range. I would have no concern walking into a building on DayZ with a DMR. No weapon is limited to a certain use, if someone wants to go CQC with a AS.50.. Be my guest, are they at a disadvantage? Generally speaking yeah, but power to that person. -
If age restrictions actually worked, we wouldn't be having this conversation. But they have done and most likely never will do. I know the exact reason why but I will not branch off into another topic. It's a minority of majority type type thing. Majority of gamers under 18 or 16 just are not mature enough to interact with other players, can they play? Sure, but being a team player or a member of a community is different. There is a small minority of people in that age group that are fine though, but as I said.. It's the majority. I recently read an article from one of the dev's of Rising Storm, who came out and said that CoD had ruined a generation of FPS gamers (Credit to him as well). From my experience and I'm sure many others, there is a much younger pool of players than there is mature that play CoD, and because of the way CoD is played, they end up on other games with the same mentality, because the ability to adapt and learn new games may have not yet kicked in. For the record, I'm going on 19 next month. I've played with people a few years younger. Are they good? Yeah.. With some flaws. One big flaw being communication. I get on much better with people around my age or older than myself.

Nothing like a lovely sunny Saturday morning....... Wait. <_< I hope to be on tomorrow. I ordered two new SSD drives which should be here so I plan on doing a clean install and such! :D -
Thank you R4Z0R49 and rest of the dev team

Hold up here a minute... A thread actually giving credit to the Dev's and not bashing the patch..? What is going on here? -

Ok, so the 1.7.7 patch has sparked my interest in DayZ again, I may be about tonight. I'm trying to not get my hopes up too much for SA while keeping it to a point that when it comes out my head will explode.. I also edge ever closer to starting my own channel. I seem to have got the quality nailed down now, recording @ 720p at ease across pretty much all my games. I see no need for 1080p, majority of people don't have the speed to watch full HD on YouTube/Twitch, and 720p is just as good. I may start throwing together some test videos on DayZ maybe, anyone want to become famous? ;) -
Anyone else hate the new zombie spawning ?
RJTurneR replied to gibonez's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Anyone noticed all these people complaining about 1.7.7 complain about the same things.. "Zombies give away my position" "Zombies are too hard" "The zombie tackle is unfair.." Go figure.... -
Again, please read back through my post. The part that specifies this is a public forum open for any discussion, and that if you wish to inludge in such 'conversations' then you can PM anyone and that will remain private. Or you can continue to sidestep everything I have said thus far? So now who is being ignorant?
-
You have an incredible lack of respect for people don't you mate? I do not associate myself with either good or bad work, if it is not my work, or I have not contributed to it, I have no need to be a part of it. I can tell you now nearly everyone on these forums has helped contributed to DayZ in many positive ways. They have also reported bugs, or contributed with their ideas and suggestions in a reasonable manner, and also in the correct sections (i.e Suggestions). I'm not going to sit here and act like I know stuff about coding, because I don't, I am willing to be honest. I am also willing to discuss these issues, or even your 'issues' in a much more non-insulting, non-ignorant manner. You come back with the same thing every time. You blame the Dev's for not caring, and you have labelled everyone here ignorant and fanboys. I am not interrupting any conversation by the way, this a forum for the public. If you want a conversation, feel free to PM me or anyone else here with your concerns, were you can not be interrupted. I will continue to express my opinions with good intent.
-
I see this thread going nowhere but having the same thing repeated over and over again. As I have said myself, If you think you can make it better, then go about your professionalism and help. If not, then continuing post here, is not going to help you, but more point you in the wrong direction.
-
I will repeat myself for both you and anyone else. If you have an issue with the patch or think you have a solution, then please, post it in the suggestions in a more contributing manner without simply raging about it. Thats not helpful.
-
Again, I'd appreciate you discussing this in a reasonable and orderly manner, but so far you continue to throw out false accusations that the Dev's don't give a ****, and that the community is ignorant. Any of this not making sense to you Mike? Please, read through my post again instead of repeating yourself. The Dev's clearly did not know this wouldn't work, otherwise they wouldn't of included it .. Seems logical right? Know one has told you to GTFO or STFU, more that people reply to yourself in a reasonable manner, then you continue to insult them because you're unwilling to accept anything for what it is. Theres a valid reason for this code being included, is that it needs to be tested. You and many of us are here to help contribute to the SA, right now your feedback (If you can even call it that...) is clearly not helping. If YOU have the solution, or even the 'correct' coding, please go ahead, post it right here.. Oh wait? We're not worthy right? I can also see that every post you have made on this forum has been negative and non-contributing. Go figure...

You're new around here I see..? Don't like it, get out. The mod is incredibly limited in its ability. ArmA 2 was released in 2009, the engine is old and has never been one of the greatest either. What they have achieved with the mod is huge considering the limitations the Dev's face. Which, if you hadn't actually realised, is why the SA is being developed, because it allows Rocket to mold the game/engine is his eyes. I stopped playing DayZ about 2/3 weeks ago just because it grew old for me, so I haven't seen this tackle feature. But if you're unwilling, which you clearly are, to accept the limitations the Dev's have to put up with and the fact that games will always have features included in them that will be broken/buggy, then I don't see much point in you even being here. 90% of this community is on the same page and accepts that nothing is perfect, and has done brilliantly in helping the progress of both the mod and SA. The fact of the matter is these features must be implemented to help further progress both the mod and the SA, otherwise we wouldn't be going anywhere would we? Not to mention your inability to be reasonable. You seem to have it all figured out but will not help contribute to both this topic or even the testing of the Alpha, because somehow you KNOW that the Dev's don't give a ****. So you can now read peoples minds...? If that was the case, DayZ would be no where right now. People like you have no place here if you're unwilling to listen, be reasonable, or even contribute. Personally, I hope you get whats coming to you. But thats not in my hands. Just my two cents..

Dayz SA only 150 People allowed in Open alpha? is it true?
RJTurneR replied to NozRee's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't feel sorry for anyone who got the mod watching Frankie, then realised the SA is 2-3 weeks away. I do feel sorry for those who caught wind of it, got ArmA/DayZ, and didn't realise SA is 2-3 weeks away. On the brightside ArmA2 is a lot of fun. The core game, DayZ, & Wasteland are all brilliant so their not losing out. As much as I credit these guys like Frankie for helping expose DayZ, they have unintentionally mislead a lot of people. Which is a shame.. Too many people (Looking at a certain age group....) thought DayZ would be a cake walk. Truth is, if you ain't very good at this game.. People will struggle massively. It took me 2-3 weeks to finally go about on my own with confidence. I've played this since September and feel I have mastered the game, and also reached my endgame. I stopped playing 2 weeks ago after realising DayZ (The mod) had just run out of steam for me. SA will bring a breath of fresh air and another 50 heart attacks. I welcome it. -
PvP Will always be in this game. Deal with it.
RJTurneR replied to Quaby's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The post above pretty much sums it all up. I have no problem at all with PvP, it gets my heart racing like nothing else. But there is a difference between PvP and then plain, stupid shoot on sight. PvP is two groups encountering each other, going tooth and nail, flanking each other left, right, front, and center. Then you get the idiots who will shoot a fresh spawn for nothing more than some painkillers.. Which they don't even take. This thread is very mis-leading as it misses the point as to why people actually do get so annoyed about this subject. It's not the PvP that annoys people and causes them to whine. It's the idiots that treat this game like a deathmatch, and will shoot anything no matter what, no 'logical' thinking to it. The title should be "PvP Will Always Be in the Game, And So Will KoS Players". Theres a difference. As I said, I actually fail to see a legit reason as to why the mod should continue to be developed alongside the SA. What more does it have to offer? It's a Mod, theres limit to what you can do. They have patched zombies multiple times, but they are still a non-factor, Chernarus can not really be developed much more, to me it feels like the mod has reached its ceiling. Continue developing a 225km2 Free-for-All against what will ultimatly me the much more popular and much more challenging SA. Just seems pointless to me..
