Still no mention of performance. I haven't really done much in the way of dayz for quite a while now, is performance still an issue? For me, it was by far the biggest problem the game had. And zombies not working at all, but that's alpha i guess.

Will Shadow of Mordor run on my laptop?
elf cakes replied to elf cakes's topic in Technology/Programming
yep, it would. only this forum's been helpful to me before so i thought i'd give it a shot -
Hi there, i'm really wanting to get shadow of mordor on my pc, but i'm afraid my laptop might not be up to the challenge. i'm able to run most games at 60fps on normal settings, and i have looked at the minimum system reqs for SoM and i'm below that. i've read in lots of places that it's very well optimized (other than the 6gb Vram ultra graphics fiasco). i've looked on lots of forums but can't find anything relating to the lower end specs, people only seem to be discussing the high-end stuff. if anyone could shed any light on this for me i'd be very appreciative. my main specs are: Nvidia GT630m gfx card intel i3 2350 2.3GHZ 8gb ram if you need any others (dont see what else would be relevant) then let me know. i have no issue running the game on minimum settings. graphics really don't mean that much to me. thanks again.

The word "Friendly" - is it over used in DayZ?
elf cakes replied to therunningmanz's topic in Gallery
yes it is. it no longer has any meaning -
This. All my deaths in experimental branch as of now have been of starvation. You starve WAY too fast, and you can go through entire cities without finding any food at all. Even when you do magically find a can or a fruit, you eat it, and it barely effects your hunger at all. You can be dying of starvation, eat an entire can, and then die of starvation. It's the game-breaking flaw that needs adressing before this patch rolls out. Otherwise the game is literally 'what can i do in the 10 minutes of time i have before i starve to death?'. edit: Upon more thought on the matter, the difficulty is going in the right direction. i love the hugely increased difficulty, but it's just gone a bit too far. its certainly made player encounters much more varied, everyone is looking for food, either trying to ask others for food or fight it out for that can of beans. it's great. just tone it down a LITTLE (add a few more food cans, make it longer before you starve to death etc). I like the way zombies are going and hope to see more of that. it's certainly a positive step in the right direction.

Fabulous, thanks :)

when do you expect to be able to add more zombies? i'm waiting on that before i get back into dayz, players are all hostile because co-op is not necessary with the current amount of zombies

shame its still a mess

Personally, i am between worlds here. I put so much trust and hope into dayz before it was released and as of yet i still have nothing to show for it. The game barely works at all, and performance has not improved at all since release. Then they come in with the news that they're gonna make it for ps4 (and most likely xbone too). I don't really know what to think. I feel like a sap for buying it. I feel like we've paid for the console versions to be made. With current progress as painstakingly slow as it is, how on earth could the team currently working on dayZ possibly make another two iterations of the game? Are they gonna take on more staff? Would these new staff be funded with our money?

ah, i was under the impression that you took a couple of months off or something.
-
forgive me for asking but what amazing updates are you seeing here? it's still a total buggy mess.

again, its just awful optimization on BI's part. it's super duper cpu intensive which almost always ends up bottlenecking it, hence why pretty much everyone has shitty FPS in arma 2 even though it came out ages ago. the story mode barely functions at all. in my opinion it's a total joke of a game, and the only reason it has had the success is the idea behind dayZ.

Experimental Branch: 0.48 Discussion
elf cakes replied to Super_Duty's topic in PC Experimental Updates
considering that pretty much all previous updates have either made performance worse or not changed it at all, i'm being perfectly optimistic. if you read my previous posts you'd see that i did once have high hopes for this game, and i believed it was going to be great. now i can understand, the game is not even half finished yet. but god damn when i can't run it for more than 2 minutes before my cpu overheats and even when i'm playing i get 10 fps, there ain't much hope. i honestly think that performance was better after the first couple of updates. now they've added all this new crap that will only serve to make it worse. that's why i don't have any optimism any more. the game disappointed me so much. -

here's betting that performance will be even worse in the new patch -
that people playing dayZ are generally assholes. and that dayZ needs some serious goddamn optimization
